ever since college started I have no time to fucking draw and get goodwhat do I do
>>7903914you are fuckedgetting a job is the death of being a creatort. neet
>>7903914Obsession keeps its own time. If you're not obsessed and treat art as a job or curriculum, what do you expect will happen?
don't come to 4chan for major life altering advice
I went back to college at 26, not a fun experience. Before that I was beg tier artist trying to make it, but couldn't finish pictures because my skill level was too low and I couldn't be bothered to read the art books properly. In the Summers, I'd get drawing, and for some reason, I started improving more rapidly. Maybe its because I was hungry for it again, or maybe because college meant I was fully primed for reading that I could finally study properly for the first time. All I'll say is do what you have to do, but don't let art distract you from a better outcome. Prioritise, anon.
I'm in the army and just spent fucking weeks in a tent with no power because they ran out of barracks for us on my NCO course with 0500 to 2300hr timings. I still found time to drawYou can find time. It won't be QUALITY time but it'll keep your spirits up. Happy artist is a good artist.
>>7903914Wait till you get married, have kidz, a full time job and all the shit attached to that living hell, and you will know what it really means to "make time" to do shit.
>>7903914>be me>get engineering degree>along the way take technical graphics classes, drafting, CAD, color theory, airbrushing>graduate full BSE>apply to engineering jobs>you want the new media department kidI'm 52 and I've never gotten to do engineering professionally because I can draw and nobody appreciates an engineer who can draw.Give up, finish college, take a still life or something if you can work it in but otherwise leave art out of your professional life and once you have the fat salary rolling in you can buy the most expensive supplies to then not do art with.
>>7903914Oh don't worry. Wait till you have a job or get married with kids
>>7904793>>7904828I just got married and already feel like I have no time for anything I like... she wants kids.Is it over for me? What do I do? I want to make her happy, but I want a life for me aswell.
Make time for it. Schedule it like an appointment. An hour a day is fine.Progress will be slow but you'll still be moving
>>7903914Hint: There is a reason there is a term "starving artist" -- it's for a reason. I'll allow you to figure out why.
>>7905000Anon, just think about all those who gave their lives for your country in wars, and they never had the chance to have a life, a love, a family. Think about them. You're about to make the same sacrifice, you will create life in this earth, new life of the highest quality possible, you will teach them well, and you will be on par with those boys who died fighting for something far away from home. Now, no one, not even god, can guarantee that your mission will be accomplished, and that some random tragedy will destroy your hard work, just as those boys had to face when they stepped on a random mine or suffered a weapon malfunction or got crushed between some trucks... Think about them too when tragedy struck you, for the ones that didn't made it, others did. You did your best for something that was worth it. You will do your best for something that is worth it. Now go with your wife hand and hand, and make your country proud.>Checked trips of doom.
>>7903914Brother the fuck are you doing? Most of my time was just wasting away at all the art courses they had at my community college.Like I get that you might wanna pursue another career but surely can minor in fine arts right?
All I got from this thread is that marrying is a TERRIBLE idea.
>>7903914>oohh woe is mee! I can't find time to draw during college>longest college class schedule being 12 hours>ooooooh woe is mee>I can't sneak in sketches when the prof is blabbing retarded shit that is already on the textbooksboohoo
>>7905026This was genuinely inspiring, anon... thank you.
>>7903914so what? you're going to college to improve your life anyways. you dont need drawing. you should be having sex with femoids.
>>7903914/ic/eet, my son, it is time to choosecareer in artor designated debt degree
>>7906504>Left the Army with an honorable dischargeHow about both? Without the debt in the degree
>>7904793Which book can i grind to get married?
best advice I can offer is to schedule out your day based on what you have time for>write down the have-to-do stuff first: classes, time for homework/studying, job, appointments, etc>put down the things that are very important, but can be done at anytime: cooking, cleaning, shopping, exercise, etc>add in sleep schedule and scheduled time for getting ready. factor in drive-timesthis should show you what your overall schedule looks like, how often you can spend a lot of time drawing, and when best to drawsomething you could do is to take a small tablet/sketchbook with you on the go, arrive at things early, and find time to do doodles
>>7903914that's normalart is for rich kids who's parents can fund their stupid go nowhere hobby
>>7905000>I want to make her happyimagine falling for the vagina flytrap
>>7905000You just stop caring about making art and instead raising kids
>>7903914> requiring specific locations or timeslots to drawsketchads stay winning
>>7909250The bible.Or the quran if you want easy mode.
if you have a girlfriend or you're fucking married, you are not gonna make it. Only suffering souls can make good art.
>>7909336> relationship> not sufferingSpoken like a true virgin
>>7909336>>7909363Actually, many "artists" out there "make it" because they got a supportive girl, and by "supportive" I mean actually $UPORTIVE. They got a working girl/wife wich also have parents with money. A girl in love will support her "artist" love crush, until that magical honeymoon phase suddenly passes its due time. Then hell starts knocking at the door.Or maybe she's like a 4, and she knows that useless starving artists is all she will have, and she's okay with him being what he is. And HE is okay being an starving artist/mascot to her doomer supportive wife. You won't support a family and a decent life for them drawing shit for a few bucks now and then or "selling digital courses, brushes and pins" to a tiny cricle of occasional "fans".If you want artistic freedom, get a real normie job, live frugally and support your own artistic time. That's the only way to "making it" to be absolutely honest.
>>7909373from my personal observations it is also common for "artsy" people to get together followed by both constantly being worried about making rentGot 2 friends like that, they both keep trying to make a living off drawing. They also keep trying other art related methods to make some money like taking commissions for building cosplay elements (mostly wigs). They got lucky because they can basically live rent-free since the house is owned by relatives. And even with that support they struggle and are constantly miserable.
>>7905026Screencapped, maybe the most meaningful and elevating thing that I've ever read in this godforsaken site.
>>7909336
>>7909386I am guessing that people who make drawing their living are ready to accept struggling even if they could make more money giving art up. Personally If I get to a point where I can no longer draw, I'm just going to kill myself. I don't care about money enough to want to live without art.
>>7909790>Art..Could it be that your "art" thing is just a mental construct to excuse yourself from what all the rest of the people must do out there to survive? It's like if someone would say " If I have to give up gaming online 24/7 I'm gonna kill myself, I'M A GREAT GAMER AND IT IS MY PASSION! LISTEN WORLD, FIX YOUR SHIT AROUND MY PASSION! OR I'LL KILL MYSELF"No, the world out there won't give you a cozy little tower with secured food, energy and internet so you can draw all day whatever you want. You know it doesn't work like that. You already know that, and you insist on fooling yourself.
>>7909800> the world out there won't give you a cozy little tower with secured food, energy and internet so you can draw all day whatever you wantit will, actually.
>>7909802Maybe in china.
