What's the difference between fancy colored pencils and these?
The fancy pencils give you an urge to suck penis
>>7907461I never understood how to use crayons and how they make their drawings look soft.
>>7907461Texture and layerability. Not that these are bad, in fact it's good to have a variety of brands so you can use them for different things.
>>7907461The difference between this and something like Prismacolors really is just being able to layer on top. Like in a hypothetical scenario if you do a whole drawing in colored pencil you can only do like one or two once overs before that shit just stops working effectively. However you can avoid the layering issue if your first initial layer is markers/watercolor. You can get an even spread of a very light color and then use these on top. You still wont be able to get that many layers in but if you do the watercolor/marker shit first you can at least avoid having any empty white spots that these pencils inevitably cant cover so you wont need that many layers in the first placeCrayola isnt that bad of a brand if your in a pinch honestly
The literal differences are pretty simple. Colored pencils consist of pigment and a binder. The pigment is the expensive part, the binder determines handling properties. Cheap colored pencils use cheap binder and low quality pigment, meaning it is not archival and has worse handling properties. Crayola in particular is worse than even cheap "artist" colored pencils because they also use all non-toxic ingredients, which results in pigments that are worse and binders with even worse handling than the cheapest student grade pencils, usually a parafin wax.
Thank you for your answersMy other question is how do I draw if I don't have a table? Do you just use a clipboard or something?
>>7908305You have no table whatsoever?Well; a clipboard is one option; another is an easel; another is just a flat board of some sort, and angle it on your lap and against the wall (it'd be better against another table, but you apparently don't have one), some even have a strap on these boards that loops around their neck/back so it doesn't need any separate support (like the wall or table).
>>7908305simplest option is with a hardcover book (or sketchbook) on your lap, paper on top
