How do you guys draw for hours at a time? Whenever I sit down to draw I tend to get distracted with other stuff, but I searched online and saw that some people just draw shit for like 5+ hours straight, and they enjoy it so much to the point that they get aggravated when they have to stop. How can I make drawing exciting enough to have this mindset?
kill yourself
>>7908920Op here, additionally I think I might possibly have ADHD which could be why I get so distracted
How?I picked up a hobby doing something I enjoy.
>>7908920When I’m stoned an hour can go by drawing and I won’t even notice. Maybe try that idk.
>>7908920Start small and be consistent. Work on a chosen subject for a few minutes at a time, then gradually increase your time spent working. Eventually you'll get used to drawing for thirty minutes at a time, then an hour, then several hours. It helps if you choose to draw something you NEED to improve at or a subject you're fixated on. If you suck at perspective, start off with drawing cars or feet or interiors. If you want to draw boobs or asses, then do that.Your goal is to get lost in "the zone" and reach a flow state.>>7908924You need to switch your diet to one with more protein and fat in it. Start eating sardines/chicken/eggs, milk and cheese, oatmeal, walnuts/almonds/pine nuts, leafy greens (don't skip out on seaweed), and berries. Drink plenty of water. Start eating Greek yogurt. It kinda sounds bizarre, but it's been found that people with ADHD and autism have reduced symptoms when they eat healthy.
>>7908920its something that happens naturally. i don't always draw for long periods of time, only sometimes i do.
You get into a flow state by slowly making tasks more challenging. Start with some random shapes. Silly doodles. A quick sketch. Keep increasing the difficulty until you feel ready for the challenging work. What many artists do wrong is jumping straight back into yesterday’s work without warming up first. Flow state resets. You need to repeat this process everyday.
It's like meditation.
>>7909039i think this is bad advice, because you said to draw random shapes, silly doodles, and quick sketches. People can be very picky and particular, what is fun for one is mindlessly boring for another, so random shapes would be terrible for such a person (like me), but if you liked doing that sort of thing, it might work for you. its not a universal fundamental.im not saying you are wrong about flow states per say, i don't really know, im just critiquing your advice. i don't think you are thinking in real terms about how this stuff works in practice, nor are you considering how it could be misunderstood. before posting advice, you should check over every word and make sure its something you actually in practice use yourself, and not just some neat sounding idea, or just repeating something someone else said. just repeat what you do that gave a good result with your own hands, and delete the rest; if everyone did this, meme advice would all die.personally i think flow states basically just happen naturally from focusing on doing cool stuff, and its not really something you have much control over; it is a natural force. i haven't tested what you said to know that you are wrong, but you'd probably have a bigger chance of getting a flow state by making sure you're well rested, have fresh air, and are not too hot or cold, and by focusing on doing something cool, and having enough stuff to get caught up exploring in. I think you're wrong about it being about difficulty, its much more about having interest, which difficulty might help with, but some people don't like to do that (like me). Random shapes, silly doodles, and quick sketches are boring to draw for me, so this would have been destructive advice if i were a beg and listened to you.
>>7909062more like mediation
>>7909063Buddy, are you high? A simple warm up activity is a common way to get yourself into the right mindset for something more challenging. You can use whatever you want if you don't like Anon's suggestion. Your not going to ever get advice that's perfectly catered to you. If you can't adjust and discard above to your liking you're not going to make it.
I listen to long podcasts while drawing. As long as the podcast is on, I draw.If your keep putting off listening to the podcast, and therefore drawing, put it in a playlist with the music you're listening too and start drawing as soon as the podcast starts - I do this when I'm feeling unmotivated and cart just immediately start drawing.
>>7909034The diet part explains a lot.. my mental health has rebounded since I switched it.. Haven't had a meltdown in over a year..T. Aut-adhd
I draw a maid dog pipe comic as a warm up
idk but whenever I draw it just feels like time melts away.
drawing is unnatural and uncomfortable. You have to pretty much be in a psychosis to do it.
>>7908920i let my lovely wife stay under my desk gently sucking on my weiner just enough to keep me hard but not enough to bust this constant edging keeps me sharply focused
