>semi retired>on NEETbux and housing paid for>no job, lots of free time>still don't draw>realize my problem wasn't lack of time or money, it was just me all alongAm I unsalvageable, bros? How do I get over my art block?
>>7909869I dunno, think up a project then make it real? Find something to be passionate about and draw
>>7909869stop playing video games for a week
>>7909869To be honest if you can't even post your beg shit here consistently, then you really are unsalvageable.
>>7909873i already have a bunch of screenwriting notes and projects i have in mind but i only write about them, not drawthis is my sketch from years ago
>>7909877Hmm. If you draw a few more boxes maybe you'll be something one day.
>>7909882>just imagine boxes everywhere lol - kim jung gi
>>7909869yep
>>7909869Try drawing something for someone you know?Almost all of my completed works were gifts.
>>7909869Try exercising and going out for a walk, and when you come back home, keep the momentum going by drawing. Also sleep at regular times etc etc. It's amazing how much your attitude and motivation can be affected by some shitty habits. If lifestyle changes aren't working, you need accountability. Call up a good friend or family member and tell them you're going to complete something by a certain date, and ask them to essentially be your teacher/boss and chase after you about it.IF you still won't just do the work, even when being held account by those close to you, and to the point where you're further inconveniencing them - just give up, you're not cut out for this, your level of self discipline is just too low.
>>7909905It may also help to have a dedicated place for drawing. A drawing desk, a drawing computer, a drawing room... might not work for the poor fags, but our brain tends to work in this silly way where it associates different places with activities. So if you sit down at the same place where you do all your gaming and fapping and scrolling your brain will think about those things, making concentrating harder.
What do you do with your time? Be honest.
>>7909877>acts as if he trash>he is goodEvery damn time. I feel like they only actual garbage on the planet.
>>7909877Fuck off faggot
>>7910064Good question. Medical appointments, ChatGPT, reading reading reading, working out, taking walks outside, trading stocks
>>7910106you expect fags here to actually draw?
>>7909877>>7909869Nigga I'll be your fucki g drill sarge if I have to , tf is your discord? You WILL not waste your skill
>>7909869oh boo hoowhy don't you just go and enjoy life
when I make time to draw I end up just lying down enjoying the peace and quiet because I value that more than drawing.
>>7910064if you were expecting mangoes and vidyagames and fapping, that's not it either. My diabetic medication pretty much murdered my libido that I can go a whole month without fapping now, and the last cartoon I watched was like a month ago (common side effects) and before that I haven't seriously watched anything or marathoned in like 3 years. I usually watch anime or TV in general only when I am sick. I never played vidyagames
>>7910092thanks>>7910261Because life isn't about just stability and stuff. Yes I do enjoy my money and time, like not being on the clock or waking up to an alarm (unless I need to go to the doctor), and I travel when I feel like it. Money and time is definitely not my problem, fortunately I got to a stage in life where I don't have to worry about that. After dropping out of college and not drawing regularly for like 14 years, I spent the early years in community college or being homeless, then spent that time getting other jobs, saving up money, getting social skills and real life experience outside of just sitting behind a screen animating some vidyagame's big tittied elves or generic space marines, bla bla bla. What's funny is that my time focusing on other stuff was just me running from myself and distracting myself from art. Well, now I have a high six figures saved up, post tax income regularly coming in without a job, now have my own studio unit, healthcare for life... what the fuck am I gonna do with all my free time? I can't even get a job if I wanted to due to health issues and I don't pass interviews. I lost all my friends and family members, I am literally fucking alone.>>7910259i dont have a discord but give me your burner email and I an email you>>7910271yeah me too, late at night I start feeling the need to draw something, but so tired I need to go bed
>>7910106"pyw" is basically meaningless at this point because of AIat this point, you have to ask them to post themselves actually drawing traditionally with a timer next to it just to be sure
>>7910106I used an app to change the contrast and color setting. It was made with Procreate too. Whatever.
i think my problem is loneliness. i dont do well when i am alone. i have no audience
Start small. Take a sheet of paper and draw some shapes. Post results. You will feel better and ready for the next step.
>>7909869Get a part time job. When I had the most free time in life is when I did the least stuff... now that I'm exhausted, working and studying like crazy... it's when I play video games and draw the most, things I've always liked, but just didn't do for some reason. Someone who's stuck tends to stay that way, while someone in movement will likely keep moving, even if tired, it's just how humans work...
>>7909869god made you that way. if he wanted you to change, you would.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Af-k9sTAYEQ&ra=m
>>7909869That's literally me . Except I draw. What's the difference here?
>>7911729me. The difference is me.
>>7911950even napoleon dynamite drew. what's your excuse?
>>7911282I had a part time job, didnt make a difference. I had a full time job, no difference. Did school, no difference. Did full time school and full time job, no difference. Unemployed, no difference
>>7909869Holy shit are you me????Im in a very similar boat, and trying to fix this now. This whole time I kept fantacizing about all the drawing I would be doing if I were not a wage slave and now I have so much free time now- and I just waste it basically playing video games and watching movies.OP, I think what you need is a goal or a project to work towards. Right now, my personal short time goal is to have atleast one complete drawing per week. Also kind of want to learn how to make video games but thats kind of ongoing thing.
>>7909869Yes. Now stop shitting up the board and rope.
My drawings make me angry. I want to become the brown Moebius.
>>7909869>no mention of diet, exercise, sleep, etcCould not possibly imagine why you’re feeling like shit and unmotivated.
>drawing for an hour takes more than an hour>because I have to warm up and then squeeze out a bit more effort to finish the drawing after the hour is updrawing is so inefficient, you basically can't draw anything unless you have more than 2 hours of free time.
>>7914284You have depression. Unironically take your meds.
>>7914598nigga i am not writing my whole autobiography herenobody gets an art block just because they didnt jog a little
>>7915492>nobody gets an art block just because they didnt jog a littleI absolutely do. Stop pretending your brain and thoughts are independent of your bodies overall health
>>7915495taking health into account is a good consideration but I already work out 4x a week and have a good diet, so that's not the problem here either
>>7915510You're getting plenty of sun too? Some people can feel down all day simply because they didn't get some rays.
>>7910912as a man you need a muse, it's ingrained within us, for women idk
>>7910106Do people here actually use "AI detectors" unironically? From what I've seen they're more prone to bullshit than asking GPT to review your amateur mix tracks.
>>7914781the wizard put me on meds yesterday. i just took my first jewpill today
>>7915510You gotta get some fresh air. Go somewhere to draw in your sketchbook, it's really fun. A park or something doesn't have to be a coffee shop. Just have some fun with drawing.
>>7909877fuck you and your larping as an artist with slop
>>7909869humans are pleasure seeking and pain avoidant. if you don't enjoy it or it's not fun you won't do it. simple as. if you want to draw more, find fun shit to draw.
>>7909869>>7914336NEETfag here. I’ve been in the same boat on and off at various points. I don’t think merely setting a goal will fundamentally change anything. What’s happening is we see art as a tool that produces an end (finished work, satisfying a quota, skill progression, etc), whereas for the artists who actually “live art” those things aren’t really motivations at all.. I think what differentiates them most of all is how they prioritize the actual subject matter. They don’t neglect the fundamentals but improve them in the context of what they specifically want to draw, and their peculiar style emerges as a result. Meanwhile us retards try to work backwards, dwelling on the fundamentals in the abstract or studying an artist’s style, not seeing that those things can’t preempt the particulars without becoming sterile. Skill and style aren’t prerequisites then, but responses to our attention and engagement.
>>7916526idk what you're going on about, setting goals has worked out for me while before I was just kind of floundering around
>>7916015What meds are you taking, anon?
>>7916609i got prozac. I asked for ADHD meds but they want to treat me for anxiety and depression first
>>7917071prozac is awful. zoloft is a better ssri but ideally try bupropion first.
>>7917090i actually tried zoloft and boop before. zoloft didnt do shit except give me tremors and make my dick limp (despite still having a libido), while boop felt more like meth or stimulants and i hyperfocused and can get work done but also struggled to sleep at night and every single noise at night would bother me, like i can hear someone playing music 10pm like a mile away and would get irritated and angry, and i got paranoid. It also gave me an ulcer.what i really like is trazodone, which i was also prescribed to take at night for insomnia in case the prozac keeps me up at night (though i take it in the morning). It gives me a body high and feels like I am floating in my bed.
I had chronic fatigue and trouble focusing until I was 31 years old, when I did a DNA test and discovered I have a mutated motherfucker gene (MTHFR). Been taking B-Complex along some other supplements and I feel like a new man. With my newfound laser focus I can even get through my day without taking naps. If my capacity for drawing was 20% before it’s now 100%. I wonder how many of you anons are motherfuckers and don’t even know it
>>7909869might be an undiagnosed medical issue? ADHD? OCD? might be worth looking into
sam altman should really be dealt with
>>7915886i'm inclined to agree. someone fed the first chapter of frankenstein to one of those detectors and it said it was ai written>>7910171>chatgptmight as well gibber at a wall
>>7909869you have this art block BECAUSE you have given yourself nothing to do but art, so you feel like if you don't do enough art then you're a failure. it's the expectation issue. you need to actually do something productive with your days, take the pressure off>>7917458lmao. this nigga has self-inflicted depression at worst. self diagnosing yourself with the attention span disease in the smartphone age is a joke
>>7917458I got diagnosed with anxiety which can look like ADHD>>7917325lol i might have the motherfucker gene and wondered if I process folates correctly. B complex hasn't really helped me
