Can a White baka gaijin foreigner from an anglophone country get a job in Japan as a manga if he knows Japanese and draws good enough art and storyboards or is it just an empty dream?
It has already been done so the question is can you do it too?
>>7923716Why the fuck would you want to work for someone else? And if you wanted to why the fuck do you have to work for a nipponjin?
Yes. I've done it.
Only brazilians can do it, crakkkers are too weak
>>7923716The only ones who can do that are les français.
>>7923764But this guy was just making comics in france for a french magazine.
>>7923768I mean sure but his manfra got people like Murata impressed interested, landed him a publishing deal in Japan and sold very well there. So the only part missing is the moving to japan part. And the anime adaptation is made and directed in japan.Doesn't get much more "making it in Japan" than that, regardless of where he lives. But you are correct, moving to japan first would obviously add a layer of difficulty, but I don't know if OP literally meant "starting in Japan from 0".
>>7923716depends on YOUr art. Because inevitably you will be partnered with an English speaking Japanese writer.
>>7923777>Doesn't get much more "making it in Japan" than that, regardless of where he lives. He didn't "make it in japan". He made it in france, then later published work in japan. Deltora Quest didn't "make it in japan" either, at least not in the way that OP is asking about. Neither did Marvel Comics.
>>7923780Well that's a "no" then to OPs question.
>>7923783>>7923751
>>7923784Can we trust that anon?
>>7923716Japs like TADC, PPG and RWBY. If they like it, they'll translate it. Anything else is just cope.
>>7923787https://shop.mujin-ti.net/ec/digital_comics/1330
>>7923784>>7923792Well that's a "maybe" then to OPs question
>>7923792zero sales
>>7923794https://shop.mujin-ti.net/ec/doujinshi-entry-formseems like anyone could just publish their work, too.
>>7923795Anyone can submit an application to be published, yes. It's a print magazine with some level of standards.
>>7923796Well then I suppose you got your foot in the door one way or another.
>>7923716another timewasting thread from autistic 45 year old american.
Kamen AmericaThey did it all by themselves and with a little bit of connections from a rich Chinese dancer from the 1990s
>>7923792porn will never be making it, cumbrain
>Comic Mujin is based in Japan>anon was paid, and still being paid>somehow it's not making it, because /ic/ said soayy
>>7923838>drawing cartoons to make losers cumnot based
>>7923838If he made it in Japan, why wasn't his westoid slop published in Manga Mujin?
>>7923716Actually making a manga good enough to be published in Japan is the biggest hurdle. Pic related is the level of quality an A-list comic artist works at. This quality of art would not even get an honourable mention in a young authors contest, any editor would tell them to go back home and learn how to draw. But even if you do make a good comic, a manga publisher isn't just an exchange, it's an employement contract. Can you work for a Japanese company? You made your oneshot, great, but how long did that take you? Can you keep that up and meet the deadlines? Can you work with assistants and editors? Can you fit in with the Japanese work ethic?I would bet that many of the western artists who do manage to create something on par with manga fall at this hurdle. What they've made is great... but they're just not professional.
>>7923716i guess the biggest thing is what do you offer over a native japanese person that would be easier to hire and manage
>>7923899Working in manga doesn't necessarily mean working on deadlines. I don't have any real deadlines. There are plenty of magazines that don't require authors to appear in every single issue, and there are magazines that release quarterly, where you have months to finish a single chapter. The biggest magazines have harsh deadlines, but working in manga does not automatically mean working in the biggest magazines. That's something you choose to apply for, if you want to.Also that level of artwork absolutely would get praised by editors. Standards aren't THAT high, come on.
>>7923838>anon was paid, and still being paidProof? Just because you publish doesn't mean you print. Tons of people release courses and games and get zero to little sales.
>>7924163...are you asking to see a payslip? My man the page rates are listed on the application form here >>7923795 and so far I've been paid royalties for the print run totalling a little over $6000 AUD (you get paid for books printed, not books sold).
>>7924167I kneel.
>>7924167What's that, like $700?
>>7923716>knows Japaneseunnecessary. just use AI
>>7924597never change /ic/ It's a crabs in a bucket for a reason. it's 4300 usd, coping shitstain.
>>7924633not bad, that's a good two tanks of gas and a burger at carl's
>>7924633Not to be a crab but 4300 is just 2 months rent in the land of the free. Meanwhile, all those AI artists, Kyle, etc are making 10 to 30 grand a month. MONTH.
>>7924638>all those AI artists are making 10 to 30 gand a monthWho are you even trying to fool with this constant, neverending barrage of free shilling, pajeet?
>>7924638>4300 is just 2 months rentyeah if you live in some shithole like new york or cali
>>7923899JRJR's great though.
>>7924642I don't know why you /ic/faggots think it's some joke or impossible and unheard of. Here, I just clicked on a random creator that makes AI art. Already he's making more than your $3800 after taxes tip jar.
>>7924649> all those bedroom guitarists on youtube are making 10k a month and get millions of subscribers> it's true, I searched for guitar covers on youtube and immediately found some dude with a million subscribers
>>7924649money laundering
>>7924656I know because I used to work at Patreon. I could upload a video of a company meeting as proof but I don't see what the point of proving myself there. You could logically see someone making money with AI right there. Even wine aunts on facebook are making $1k a month, I've seen it.
