Shout out to the sticky thread that helped me get into learning art some years ago.Now, let's paint some leaves n stuff.
Could improve the texture and the overall shapes are a bit messy, last one for today as it 4 in the morning for me.

Thanks all for sharing, any medium you use is perfectly fine. I'll be messing around with some linework/digital ink style drawings at some point too. I'll be back to post some more later today. I'm getting flagged as spam for trying to reply to your posts, if anyone knows a way around it?

great work lads, this ones an oldie, but kinda proud of the bark effect, not so much about the folliage, any tips or ideas for leafy impressions greatly appreciated
There's a lot I'd want to change by simplifying things more but I think it's time to move on and keep that in mind for the next thing. I'll take on something a bit more simple too.
>>7936635The bark texture is awesome, especially at the bottom of the trunk. You've got a good start on the leafy impression you're after, I have no idea when it comes to traditional art, check out some other artists, practice and try out some things and you'll get there, keep it up!
I pretty much exclusively draw characters but have been trying to expand my skillset. It's kinda boring - originally my intent was just to try to better understand clouds and their lighting, but I then tried to make it a complete picture. One thing that I find hard is that I'm used to having clear, distinctive outlines for characters, which isn't the case for natural elements. It's also difficult know what colors to use.

>>7937495Nice n vibrant with some fluffy clouds, I suppose it depends on what style you want for your backgrounds, you could have linework for them too but your choice. It definitely feels a lot different painting something without linework being there in the finished piece.
>>7937674Thank you. I can't help but I say I felt kinda proud of the clouds. Even though I know they're nothing special to most people.I want to continue with backgrounds. I think they''ll be important for my future ideas, but I also just find them cozy :) Nature is so beautiful.
WIP, took on a big task again. I was messing around with making my own brushes for the moss and leaves but man, moss is so tricky of a texture. I'll try n finish this tomorrow.
Finally finished, got very distracted the past few days.
Man this cloud texture is tough where its kind of breaking apart since its a mix of hard and soft edges, fun to paint and learn some more about clouds though.
