I don't get it. I thought the "equator" was supposed to be the brow line... Why is it now in the middle of the sockets?

There isn't a universal rule for how people do construction as long as the final result respects proportions

Yep, I've had this exact question a year ago. I've just excepted that construction is a vibes based thing with no clear cut formula. As long as it works for (You) and everything gets placed proportionally, then that's all that matters.

you can structure your art however you want. different people do different things. which you like better, is the one you do!

Like >>7938508 said it’s just vibes and general guidelines, it’s not a mathematical formula.
Get a bunch of refs of the types of heads you want to draw (e.g. if you want to draw anime you need to study anime heads specifically) and experiment with breaking them down in different ways and develop your own personal method that works for you.

You'll notice that his features migrate lower then his plan, as he adds them on. He even erases the guideline and replaces it with the one that fits his scheme, and not the geometry. It's obvious he autocorrected as he went along, later thinking "hmm, this doesn't fit, I must've done the line wrong", replacing his flawed schema with the one that fits.
You either don't worry about it, since human faces contain a lot of variation anyway, or switch to learning from someone who cares about proportions

construction lines are based off initial form, and the nose on the skull is off centre bottom left so its not a good guide regardless. you do this first as a learning exercise then as refinement, finally it can be used as character specific or general guidelines depending on how complicated/varied your characters forms are, if you use your own construction as a template, etc, etc.

adding to this, I just noticed you wouldnt see the right side of the jaw at that angle, this guys drawing sucks idk why begs are making guides now, also op kill yourself.

on second thought i just realized who made these skulls, must have been a quick sketch and on off day, my bad.

They're not the same line. Also that skull is just a reference for starters, his method for drawing the head and all its features still apply.
