Every time I try to draw a figure they come out stiff, or I end up reverting to the same few poses. How did you break yourself out of this habit? I want to draw cool actions with dynamic perspective

My honest opinion? It’s probably just in your head.

In my head? Am I thinking about it too hard?

I think anon was under the mistaken impression that the picture was yours

I sometimes spend a good while posing 3D models and then using them as reference. Maybe that could be useful for you as well? Also someone once told me that one way to see if a pose is good is by judging its silhouette. I think there's some truth to it. Anyway, if you figure it out then let me know.

>silhouette
I think they may actually be onto something here. I probably need to try enveloping more to get the feel of action. Thanks, anon

To what end will you use the energetic pose? A character on a white bg like your image? What is your purpose? What final destination is it just for the sake of dynamism? How far are you willing to go down the rabbit hole? Will you dedicate your whole life to the pursuit of finding out how and why so much that you just become attached in that one subject? Or are you content with a basic answer you can google image search yourself or look on Pinterest for tips?

You didn’t even attach your work. How can anyone help you? Threads like this are worthless.

i think it's all about weight, lines, and gesture. depicting a clear action is also important. remember there's a floor, you know

samefag but this picture and the one i'm posting now are very different but they also share a lot of similarities. weight bearing parts of the figure are obvious, there's a floor, lines are clean and suit what's happening, you can tell the artist was thinking of a specific scene while drawing, so on so forth

Exaggerate the gesture phase of your sketch as much as possible. Even to the extent of making it look wrong in terms of anatomy and proportions.
Whenvere you clean up your sketches, you are bound to making it more stiff. This prevents you from going TOO stiff and static.

how can I retain the soul of the sketch in the clean lineart?

Looks like a still from a breakdance video. In terms of jap illustration Naruto and especially boruto are pretty low tier, see what araki does he’s much better
