When i try to, say, copy even a part of his work, it all seems nonsensical or like the finished product of a 100 step long process, like i'm trying to practice being an athlete, by looping around the finish line, instead of running the track. My question is, where is the track? How do i get some good practice in? I see a lot of my favorite artists themselves have leyendecker influences, but I cant get him to stick to me.my tries: imgur.com/a/vvdrSkR
>>7943136>leyendeckerthis niggas art is the gayest thing imaginable. this shit more gay then getting fucked up the ass
>>7943136Proko did a couple of videos on how to study other artists and apply those lessons to your own work, and they actually used Layendecker as their example artist - I haven't watched them in years, so they might suck more than I remember, but give them a whirlPart one:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMWzv87nCIkPart two:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLGjlV-ZmP0
>>7943136to be blunt, it's too far above your skill level. practice your accuracy and observational skills and try again in a couple weeks.when you do study his stuff, focus on one element and copy it multiple times. just focusing on his drapery until start to get his style. even leyendecker himself had to do it multiple times.he wrote a bit about his own process, james gurney's blog covered it well.https://gurneyjourney.blogspot.com/2010/09/leyendeckers-method.html
>>7943136>my tries: imgur.com/a/vvdrSkRI think it'd be better if you studied layendecker with a hard brush, with than a soft edged brush - that would a good start, in my opinon.
>>7943138Well, he was gay...
>>7943317Based on the posts I'm reading by an inane russian in another thread, he might not have been gay, if he was the one doing all the fucking, and none of the taking. There's still hope yet!
>>7943339He was literally painting with a cock in his mouth. It's why he was good.
>>7943344>He was literally painting with a cock in his mouth.Wow, he was just like the average /ic/ artist today!
>>7943136Embrace your inner gay.
