How do you usually deal with tapering in Paint Tool SAI 2's linework layer? By default there's two options for anchor points, pointed or rounded. Pointed's supposed to be closer to a taper, but it doesn't look sharp enough to my standards. What I usually do is the third method, where I draw a transparent line until the the black (or colored) outline "sharpens."

I simply do not use the linework layer, and just freehand everything: linework layers feel too much like tinkering with a machine instead of creating.
Create a new layer, get the line you want with an expansive sweep of the arm, then erase the remainder and merge it down.

Alternatively, if I understand your problem correctly, you can just rasterise the linework layer and erase the tip until it's sharp enough for you.

That worked, thank you! I've known how to rasterize linework layers for a while, but didn't think that approach would be simpler. Who knew my perfectionist tendencies would slow my down instead?

Happens all the time lel
