How much has your art improved over the years?
>>
>>7954040
How the fuck did he get worse?
>>
>>7954041
fully rendered and finished drawing/stiff standing pose that likely took him hours if not days vs a sketch that was likely far easier to do and actually has movement to it
>>
>>7954041
he still doesn't understand color, shadow and light, but at least he understands line of action now
definitely an improvement
>>
>>7954047
>doesnt understand x and y
you are braindead
>>
if you think he got worse you're certified NGMI
>>
>>7954112
I could also say that he sucks at those
but it might just be he needs to study some resource that explains them to do better
I do suck ass at color though, because I've studied and I'm still bad at it

Good work but the biggest thing that needs work in both imo is the lack of form in the hair. I think it would benefit from it a lot, though some anime styles dont favor it so idk

>>7954807
Very solid progress, I can see you stepped your anatomy game up. Arms are a wee bit too short though and I think the hair looks too uniform near the bottom especially

Okay so since apparently nothing that I'm doing is working can someone give me a tutorial I can actually understand and apply?

I've looked at the tutorials and I genuinely cannot understand them or figure them out. I don't know how to break things down into basic shapes nor apply them to what I want to draw. Unless someone explains the exact process to me I'm going to keep banging my head against the wall doing nothing. I tried Loomis, didn't work. I tried IC sticky and gave up immediately. Nothing has worked for me.
>>
>>7955121
is that toad legless or is that finger just hiding the knee-section really well, either way cleared up the confusion i had with the first drawing. Still, great improvements all around keep it up
>>
>>7954807
Reminder that you can improve but it's limited to your taste and who you study.
>>
>>7955150
>>7955150
you know, and this is something that people who can make things look good doesnt tell you, you need to actually put effort into stuff to make it look good

she looks boring, if you take the parts that people pay attention to such as the head, hat and torso, would you say that you warped the proportions of the torso to the head as much as you u did the head to the hat? i would advise you to play around with selecting her eyes and torso and messing around stretching them, also delete the head outline that you kept looping around the bangs, thats just not good

Okay, I can tell you that you havnt improved at drawing feet in 6 FUCKING YEARS. Your hands have marginally improved too. Also look at those fucking knee's on the bottom left. Why are you defining her knee cap that hard with those lines? Your noses is terrible on the girl on the right tool.
Buy if you can see these mistakes, just kys lol. You're not serious about drawing or improving. You got to a comfortable level of low /int/ and decided that this is good enough. Pathetic.

I asked WHY. Learn to read you fucking nigger. Because it looks fucking ugly. Also thanks for proving my point. Your KNEECAP does not look defined when its bent like that. Only when the leg is straight and flexed does it look like how you drew it. Fucking /beg/

Go head, bend you knee and tell me the muscles above it are still defined. It doesnt because your kneecap BENDS AROUND DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! You can even see it in your own fucking "gotcha image" the muscles on the right leg become LESS DEFINED as the knee BENDS.
/beg/ ALERT!
>>
>>7954040
I have never meaningfully improved. My hand-eye coordination is much better, but my actual drawing skill is still more or less where it was when I was three years old. I'm still stuck at the "grasping the basic concept of drawing" phase.

I lost something when iScribble finally shut down. I didn't really start picking up drawing again until 2023, and the majority of my work was in charcoal. I feel like I'm slowly recapturing my groove in digital art and will return to looser and more creative work over time.

>>
>>7960992

if you don't feel the improvement, you should try different styles. maybe you just have process blindness
>>
>>7961873
I've tried multiple styles and techniques, even switching mediums. It's helped for speed, removed a lot of barriers to regular practice, and a lot of things besides actual improvement. I've been consistently awful the entire time. I'm not ready to give up yet, but it's really demotivating to look at my older works and not see any real difference in quality.

it's honestly pretty hard to say how much i've improved because i have a tendency to go back into older artworks and revamp them to match my current artistic standards.

but here's a ship i made a year or so ago versus what i'm doing now. since then, i've learned to be more comfortable making my own floor plans without copying existing layouts from other artists. i do this by tracing boxes on top of vertical and side profile images of ships, but i prefer to have front views as well for width.

i also learned how to add gradient shading, but i limit it to stairways and slanted walls because it can't be fixed later. i've also been more comfortable playing around with transparent holographic displays, rounded segments, diagonal items, more detailed floor plates, and overall much larger vessels (albeit at a smaller scale).

this isn't even that, cuz if u notice the midtones and darkest shadows are just the base color but darker, the purple is an attempt at depicting ambient/bounce light but because it was copied from a tutorial devoid of context its not rooted as a choice with any logic behind it, so it looks off, because there's no background elements (or implied background elements) that would give off that slight purplish hue to the planes facing opposite to the light

I recommend blind contours, grinding shapes and forms for two weeks, and constant Memory/Cognitive Drawing (active recall) for you, anon.

What causes begs to stagnate is by not focusing on certain key fundies (gesture/flow, line quality, simple anatomy, values) that allow for the jump from symbol drawing to thinking in 3D and doing the required work:

>blind/pure contours
>continuous line drawing
>grinding shapes and forms
>breaking down references into shapes and forms
>negative space drawing
>drawing upside-down

The trick is to do these exercises but with something you want to draw: either something from life or something fictional. Take your time.
