Taking a break? Drink some water, do some stretches, share some thoughts.Just keep them art related.Previous: >>7940534
>>7963461Thank you for reminding me to drink some water Miku. It’s hot as shit out here
I woke up about an hour ago and my dick is still hard, I think it's like that because I have to poop.... Should I draw it for you guys then you can critique it?
haven’t drawn in a week. very scared i won’t know what the fuck to do once i get to my computer again but also hoping ill be better after a brief break. you know like maybe the knowledge will have baked
sweaty miku sports bra
I want to fuck Mikuf so badly.
CSP is so fucking dogshit for binary man, im switching back to SAI
I never post my work on /ic/, maybe someday, but I do find it motivational to see people enjoying themselves on the rare occasions it happens and I feel better about myself when I see idiots fighting over something stupid.
>>7963660post it today. right here. I'll be nice and constructive.
>>7963660I think one of the nicest threads at the moment is that one /beg/ with their cave girl oc Lots of feedback, people having funThis board is good when people post their work more
i'm being held back by my fucking tablecannot get into a comfortable position with the lackluster amount of room I have at the moment holy shit
I wanted to draw tonight but I was too sleepy and I've just been laying on the couch in a daze...
>>7963725I agree. I enjoy watching people be productive and contribute without any of the pretense of there being a rat race people need to get ahead of each other in. The creation and sharing of art is supposed fun and edifying.
Pretty happy now that I'm capable of drawing again without it hurting after a while, I had three pea-sized ganglion cyst around wrist that was quite annoyance after 2 hours of drawing but now that they've been removed feels great
i’m so glad drawing exists. if i couldn’t draw what i love, i feel like i wouldn’t exist.
>draw something>it takes 2 hours>take a break>maybe draw something else>takes another 2 hoursthats already 5 hours, basically a full working day. (in a real job you only seriously use your brain for 3-4 hours)And this is assuming you're drawing 1girl in void slop that takes a quick 2 hours, not actual masterpieces that take 3+ hours. If one of these drawings flops or you realize it wont work halfway through drawing it, that's half your day wasted.
>Work really hard on something>10 VIEWS on twatterWell I have a bigger following on Pixiv so maybe the->10 views there too...*sigh*yk I used to think it was enough just to be good to get popular. I'm making the best looking stuff I've ever done but I'm getting less views than ever.
>>7964288I have 270 followers on twitter but despite most of them being active mutuals my latest art post only has 3 views after 4 hours, musk is fucking with the algo again
>>7964290>all his followers are moots instead of genuine fansYou're playing the wrong game.
>>7964294most of them are not even artists, it's largely vtubers I've interacted with in the past and then a small handful of fans whom I mostly interact with through discord anywayeither way it was just more to say that by this point I'd usually have 30-50 views on a post like that, it does however have 2 likes which if you compare against the 3 views, thats a 66% followthrough so I've basically made it when you really think about it
Are popular artists carefully picking only the best ideas to draw and post, or are they sharing everything they draw and it's all top tier?
>>7964260Yeah, it’s brutal. You can only compress the amount of time it takes so much. This is why mangakas go insane from working 12+ hour days for months on end.
when you take your wacom pen with you into the bath without you realizing it that's how you know you're thinking about drawing
in the time spent trying to figure out how to simplify my style further i could have drawn at least 2 pieces anyway
>>7964417average popular artist draw is just a fucking cropped drawing of a cute girl. I doubt they're curating ideas all that offen
Can you realistically ever catch up to more skilled art mutuals (high /int/ onward) than you with 5+ years of drawing over you as a /beg/ artists taking their craft seriously only now, or is thinking you actually can just to boost your self esteem delusional? Do I really have to wait a shitload of time before walking alongside them?
>>7964767Yes definitely, that’s how it’s supposed to work. No one can just linearly increase their skill level for the rest of their life, it’s not possible. People learn a lot in the beginning and then they plateau eventually. So you can catch up to people who even have 10 or 20 years on you.>Do I really have to wait a shitload of timeYes, but, that’s just how it works. It will take a while but you can catch up eventually.
Im not busy enough to have an aesthetic messy artist desk and it's fucking up my larp. Even drawing 12 hours a day doesn't warrant several desk trays... maybe I should put random books here.
>IT'S time to draw>brain: HEADACHE DISTRACTION BRAINFOG SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP DO ANYTHING BUT DRAW
>>7964995sounds like someones a pussy
>>7965008you're right, I'm a genetic pussy, I was born this way and its not my fault. I win.
>>7964995Yeah I'm quite familiar with the pre-drawing headache. I don't really have a solution for it other than to just power through it
Why do western professionals use their real names while the japanese use pen names? I'm SEA and in professional spaces using a monicker is seen as unprofessional.
how do you guys feel about colorpicking some other image or palette you find instead of just eyeballing shit
>>7965116If someone's goal is to make sure a piece doesn't have major color problems or you're looking to save time, you should 100% do that.of course not doing that will improve their own sense of color and let more of their own "style" come through, but at the end of the day sometimes you just need a piece to not fail for the sake of a commission or something.
>>7965116I never understood the autism about color picking. The idea that it’s “cheating” is really bizarre to me.The ONLY way it might be bad is that you miss out on the chance to develop your own color observation skills. But other than that go for it
>>7965223i feel like now more than ever there are people who are worried about being perceived as cheating by taking legitimate shortcuts that used to be just fine a decade or five agolike we got someone in the catalog who was worried about using fucking rulers
>>7965226Yeah it’s obviously a more important question than ever because of AI. (People being against color picking predates AI though.)Of course the notion of “cheating at art” was not invented with AI (despite what some non-artists seem to believe). People have always looked down on tracing, photobashing, etc.Obviously these things exist on a spectrum. Rearranging some refs you found on google requires a lot less effort than drawing a whole piece from imagination, and if you’re just pure photobashing then I think you’re basically in the “not really doing art” category at that point, although it still takes a little more effort than just typing in a proompt and going with the output.Basically just be honest with yourself and do your own work and you’ll be fine.
>>7964995the real problem is when you eat like shit because you're stupid and poor and get tummy aches all the time and feel like doing nothing but laying down until it passes
>>7963557yup never use CSP for binary. SAI, photoshop, even mspaint is a better option
>>7963557What makes it shit? I have both but sai lacks so many features
I'm a developmentally arrested child stuck in an adult body. If I post a fanart online and it happens to get a lot of nice comments it affects me so much I have go for a run or pace around the room and giggle and talk to myself like a retard and it's impossible to focus on anything for the next few hours. I'm almost 30 and it's just as bad as it was when I was 10. if you comment on artworks by autists online BE AWARE you are causing this to happen. Thanks
I appreciate active mutuals who comment regularly but it annoys me when they try to give me advice when they're worse than me. Just stand back and let me cook and simmer.
>>7965354I never comment or give advice for this exact reason
I don't know what I'm doing and I know that's the problem. I don't mean something more complicated like having a specific issue and being frustrated at the results, I mean nothing inspires me anymore and I'm just spinning my wheels and every drawing is half-hearted at best and done in a whim. Just kind of doing timed figure drawings and aimless copies and reproductions that are entirely meaningless that I can't really apply my brain towards or learn from. I don't have any projects or passion strong enough to will me to invest the creative side. I don't know what happened it's not going away but I don't know how long a break to try and recover would even be. It's to the point where I might just grind a technical skill like inking just to keep up the habit
Hopefully the government shutting off access to Fable 5 will somehow end up slowing progress towards better animation AI models too.AI animation is getting better but as of right now it seems like you absolutely still need humans for anything nontrivial.
>>7965558Unfortunately doubtful. Right now US govt is really only hounding Anthropic because they're butt buddies with their competitor OpenAI, it's got nothing to do with the model's actual capabilities (which are not so extraordinary as to elevate them above GPT-5.5, per Anthropic's own evaluation that they put out in their defense kek). And anyway LLMs and image & video gen models are very different beasts, China is constantly pushing out cutting edge video gen models that can run on consumer grade GPUs, so we're regrettably stuck with them forever even if the AI bubble were to burst tomorrow.
>>7965596Don’t remember the source but a Trump admin official said that the same scrutiny will be applied to all Mythos class models so we’ll see
>>7965599That's just doublespeak for "models we don't like the creators of". The govt has openly hated Anthropic ever since Dario refused to bend the knee and sign a contract that'd allow them to use Claude for unsupervised military killbots. OpenAI had no such scrupules, so now Sama's their best friend instead. You bet your ass they're not going to deploy any of that "scrutiny" against OpenAI.
>>7965607>That's just doublespeak for "models we don't like the creators of"And rightfully so. If you sabotage the military progress, then you are the enemy
>didnt draw yesterday>know i need to today>thinking this way causes me to make art feel more risky and a bigger task than it actually is>feel like drawing even less now, but the internal knowledge that i need to draw grows even more>causes me to end up crying and beating myself up over not doing anything>go through this cycle practically every single dayhow do i escape this?
>>7965706You need to start a positive feedback loop so that drawing becomes so integrated into your life that NOT drawing starts to feel like the weirder and more painful option.Replace mindless scrolling/videos with art videos. Think about drawing in your idle time. Work towards little art goals and accomplish them and feel proud of that. Make those little goals something you look forward to each day. And so forth.Unironically establishing a rhythm where you post work here for feedback every few days or so is also helpful.
