The general thread for Manga / manga-styled comic-making, manga-style illustration and related comic work. That said, everyone is welcome here.

Support each other and talk about your work or the work of others that excites you. Inking, character design, paneling / layout, writing, planning, and other discussions are all welcome.
Post resources, questions, in-progress pages, breakdowns of other works, etc. If a work is not yours, credit the maker (unless it's fucking obvious like a full page of One Piece or something).
Thanks to everyone for making /mmg/ a level-headed and helpful place. Remember, drawing and making comics and manga are difficult endeavors, and we're all in this struggle together.

Some western / indie publishers of Manga:

Saturday AM ( https://www.saturday-am.com/ )
> Digital indie magazine, seems to be on the up-and-up
> Open submissions for long-form series; also distributes series currently being published elsewhere.
> Regularly publishes one-shots, making it a good potential outlet for already-finished work.

Oni Press ( https://onipress.com/ )
> Technically indie, but at this point large enough by comic standards to be mentioned in the same breath as other publishers.

Antarctic Press ( https://antarctic-press.myshopify.com/ )
> Longtime large-indie publisher of OEL / manga-esque books.
> Seemingly taking submissions at present if https://antarctic-press.myshopify.com/pages/submissions is anything to go on.

Yen Press ( https://yenpress.com/ )
> Started out as a small indie publisher of original / Korean material, and has grown reasonably popular since.
> As of 2016, it is also one of the western arms of the Kadokawa Corporation, with Kadokawa owning a 51% stake.
> Editorial inquiries can apparently be sent to yenpress@yenpress.com, however, they apparently are not open to new submissions at this time.

Viz Media / Viz Originals ( https://www.viz.com/originals )
> *The* western manga publisher.
> Currently in the exploratory stages of setting up an English label.
> Submissions are open and several books have been announced. However, progress on the label seems to be moving very slowly.
> Still might be worth a shot anyway.

Shrine Comics ( https://shrinecomics.com/ )
> Small indie manga publisher
> Seemingly attempting to make the transition to physical volumes
> Allows crossposting to other sites

Iconic Comics (https://www.iconiccomics.com/)

I've been feeling like some scenes on my story were too boring, and I was going to keep them as they are hoping it was just my author's desensitization talking. But after making some changes I realized they really were too boring and it was a good idea to change them. So if you ever feel the same way about your story, it's best to listen to your gut and make some changes.

Dude that shit was posted fucking months ago no? Like even the best pitches might be seen by a more shitty editor and you gotta wait until another opportunity comes up.

There is a process
>part of the brain that "just knows" has a small hunch that scene/art is slightly off or potentially just meh in general
>spend hours coping and trying to fix it
>double down after spending longer than it would have taken to do something else from scratch
>find out after fucking around
>scrap the work and do something else from scratch

Do you usually incorporate elements of your own culture into your stories?
I don't know how it is in your country, but here, depictions of regional culture in a story are highly valued. I’m from Brazil, where a "Brazilian Manga" movement has been growing; these cultural representations are highly appreciated, regardless of the story's genre.
What I notice in this thread is that the stories tend to be quite universal, yet I still see many elements typical of Japanese culture. Are you overlooking your own culture?
>>
>>7985569
I personally think it's really lame when a non-Japanese author incorporates obvious Japanese elements into their story. You can get away with it if your story is literally set in Japan, but I've seen even in fantasy stories they'll give their characters Japanese names and have them do Japanese things like bowing or whatever that joke is where they poke someone in the ass.

The Japanisms in Japanese works aren't really intentional, they're just what they know or find funny. You should find similiar things in your own country that are interesting to outsiders, hell you might even create some weaboo equivelants of your own country from Japanese people.

But don't call it cultural representation, that makes your culture out to be some sort of political stance and not a normal part of life in your country.

>>
>>7985582
As for using Japanese names in stories, I see no problem with it, a story can feature a diverse cast of characters from different backgrounds.
Japanese manga artists, for instance, often struggle to depict Western culture, frequently resulting in inaccurate or caricatured portrayals.
>>
>>7985590
That explains why almost all of your comics you post here are set in Germany and why you draw yourself as Goku.

Please respect that I am on hiatus and stop trying to squeeze info regarding my series out of me when I'm on break. Especially stop coming to places like this to get that info. This is not a devils moon general, and this is not a fanclub. I don't feel its necessary to take up space in the thread when I am not currently working. I shouldn't have to keep breaking my silence here for your sake.

Wow. You're really autistic.

>>7985950
what dude? what? what is it? what is the fucking problem? what did I say that was so fucking wrong? seriously, everything I say gets a reaction like this. Just an endless spiral of contrarianism all the way down. context never matters.

this dude was asking last thread for wip material, and I handed him whole storyboards. now he wants to ask basic ass questions that he can just ask on my socials. ignoring that I'm on hiatus when any "fan" should know that's the case. I'm not going to prioritize devils moon for the sake of one obsessed guy who wants to take a mile when I give an inch. I'm always blamed when some jackass decides to follow me around online. and for some reason you all bitch and moan when I try to shoo them off. For fucks sake.

You can claim it's a stylistic choice but I'd recommend finishing the drawings, as in drawing connective lines in those spaces where one part seemingly leads to another like the window for example which just drifts off into negative space.

People have told him repeatedly to let petty shit like this go since one of the main reasons he keeps getting trolled is he keeps letting himself get baited, so telling him again probably won't amount to much. If I didn't respect his dedication to the art grind I'd be joining the shitposters' side.
>>
>>7986090
I am happy to receive fan interest. but for months now I have received endless comments from the same reader in multiple places. going so far as to ask about stuff I was doing pre-2020 on clearly dead platforms. lately I feel like I am doing devils moon in service of one obsessive person. If this is not that person, I get why I sound like a fucking maniac. but right now I'm concerned about being followed around and bothered about a project that's on break. Especially since I've been followed around before and then had that brought up when people argue with me. Other readers have noticed this fan in the comments, and have even asked me about him.

Dip pens give you more direct control over line width within each stroke, but are a lot harder to control as a result. You don't need to use 'em, but once you're practiced and capable with them they're a faster way to get clean strokes of variable width. Kinda like a brush but with a narrower range of widths. It's up to you whether or not that sounds like it's worth the effort.

I fucking hate how much they shove Lampião ''myth" in every brazilian media and it get shilled and praised just because is cangaçocore. Professionally published mangaka don't do the final typesetting themselves. They do temp text, which their editor goes off of when doing the final text. Couldn't tell you what program they use, though in the past they literally pasted each individual character onto the page (dunno when they stopped doing that).

I really have no idea if there are any authors actively publishing manga down here, there was one guy that did mercenary bloodlines, I should probably finish reading it and show some solidarity towards a fellow author. I am working on something myself and one of the aspects of our corruption ridden banana republic system I want to portray is the useless figure of the 'judges of peace' which essentially are officials that oversee like minor local court and civil matters, Im not sure how it works in other countries but down here they are infamously corrupt (some of them have even turned out to be relatives of the criminals themselves) and their rulings as well the law are made in such a way that the criminal barely ever receives punishment and the victims largely receive the overkill heft of the law.

There are also a bunch of hyper progressive human rights groups who double as state psychologists who'd do the same thing , theyll get involved and justify all matter of thirdworld-ism, defend it under the premise of how the criminals are the actual victims who cannot tell right from wrong, I hate both of these elements so much that I plan to throw them into a story full of extreme corporate cyberdystopia where corporations participate in biological matter harvest 'auctions' that rival or trump the extent of the law, so even if the criminals declared innocent they can still be harvested by the mercs hired by corpos who pay huge amounts of money, effectively rendering their human rights gaslighting meaningless.

Oh heres the series I mentioned above in case you want to check it out. Im not a big fan of the aesthetic but I give him props for actually publishing it, personally id rather make it free and go the route of patronage/crowd funding but w/e

*edit*
I couldnt share the link on here cause of 4chans gay spam detection system but if you search mercenary bloodline on google, its easy to find.

I definitely think its easier to get your art work to look "good" with digital art, but if you want it to look legendary like some of the best mangaka, trads the way to go. I have found a new appreciation for writer/artist combo authors in the west: being both the artist and the writer of an american style comic book is harder than in manga because you don't get assistants, you have only one month and you have to sketch the entire thing, ink it , add lettering, possibly even color it. Imagine drawing a whole page in one day, they have to do that daily

think about what took you the longest to do, I like this but maybe you think it doesnt evoke enough emotion or wonder. Drawing more detail and spending more time on it won't achieve that. You gotta learn where to cut corners and how to master panel usage, which is just practice.

But when I see this I read it left to right don't really have any problems with it. Since its a white scene I guess panel borders can be removed like on the top panel and have the art extend to the left and right.

I am not a pro, and I think your page already looks cool. Here's my attempt, however, at making it read a bit better.. a subjective one.

I made the panel borders thinner because they caught my eye a bit too much. Then I reshaped and resized the panels to better reflect what is happening inside them and the importance of these happenings. Then I tried to slow the pacing down, since I felt like two scenes were competing for attention: The guy wandering through the snowy forest, and the seemingly important discovery. I also tried to use more varied angles and avoid drawing panels that do the same job: your first panel already show the guy wandering through the snow in sufficient detail, so I merged the 2nd and the 3rd panels to focus on a new piece of information. Then I shifted the focus away from the guy to the crows and used their POV to keep things fresh.. Then I gave everything some time to react to each other: the crows react to the guy, the guy reacts to the crows, and then his attention returns to the stone.

Anyways, I'm not really sure if my version reads better in the end, I think my perception might be skewed and I might be a schizophrenic. I hope at least some of it will be helpful to you still.

Not saying it's perfect, it could flow a bit better but I don't really see what wrong with it. You say you can't do expressive well enough but I think you could lean into that since this could work for a more melancholy sort of story. One thing that might help is having a solid idea of your characters, you won't be able to put as much of yourself into it if you don't know what you're putting yourself into.

Depends on what you mean, but the most appealing "big guy who likes violence" archetypes to me always come when they have a philosophy of violence. Violence is a way of life for them, it's not just an option they choose because it's the easiest thing to do - it IS their life.

Think The Judge from Blood Meridian, or (for a much less deep character) Sundowner from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, who I'm pretty sure was inspired by the former. Bane from Batman to a lesser extent, also has an appealing philosophy.

I'm trying out a bunch of different things when making this one-shot, and I'm figuring out that doing long curvy lines traditionally is really difficult. I'm not really happy with the slicing effect in the first page, so I might change that up in CSP down the line. Not entirely sure what to think of the sky in the second page either. There are a few things that could be worked out such as composition or line quality, but I think the story deserves some priority over what will eventually be solved with time and practice. What it really needs is a focus very strong and clear action and reaction and about half of these panels should be told in gestures and outward emotions. Why is the knight attacking what appears to be a small, defenseless girl? Do they think she's a monster? Is the knight crazed or evil in some way? I think these are questions you yourself can answer, but then it is also your job to make it make sense to a dimwit such as myself.
>>
>>7989858
If you don't write the story, you don't design the characters, you are basically doing nothing. You are just sitting there and thinking about, how cool it will be when you start to draw your manga. One day, in the far future.

Thanks for the in-depth feedback! I have to note that my comic is read from right to left, which indeed causes a strange sequence of actions if you read it left to right. The girl picking up the stick to defend herself and the knight cutting it happens first (as a follow-up from the knight charging the girl in the previous page), and the girl then begs for her life as a last ditch effort.

The slash you mention on panel four is supposed to be the girl's hair falling in front of her face, as she's throwing herself to the ground, but I'm realizing it reads poorly after cropping the page at the cutting border. The slash I was thinking of is the curved lines behind the "chopped" panel on the first page.

it's the same as any other character. if you want them to be likeable, make them likeable. maybe he has convictions he sticks to, maybe he's just a friendly dude, maybe he's a silent killing machine who just gets the job done clean and efficient putting the rest of the cast to shame, and so on. having an action pivotal role is important too. if he shows up and achieves nothing and dies then there's no reason to remember him, but if he shows up and represents a major turning point in the story then there's more reason to like him.
hxh's uvogin kinda just exists to show off how strong the new villain cast are and job to kurapika, but while he's around he's the star of the show and his death is critically important element for the villains of that arc moving forward.
another example is kuroki gensai from kengan asura; he doesn't have a particularly compelling personality or backstory or even much screentime, but his role in the story as the "fuck your rival setups, the strongest wins" is a big part of what makes kengan asura compelling.

>>7990555
I haven't drawn it myself so I'm only guessing, but if I were to tackle this I think I would first draw some blobs of the outline of the city, like a cluster of buildings here, some taller buildings here, just blobs. Then I would draw the flat plane of the land and draw flat lines over it outlining the main roads, just random squiggles really. Then I would bring up the buildings as rectangles starting from the back and coming forward, getting more specific about their details as they get closer to the foreground. Then I would add dimension to them to indicate lighting, just more rectangles but carefully placed to be the sides of buildings. Then I would a bunch of lines and dots in the buildings to indicate windows, and some various random brush strokes to indicate rooftops.
Add in some trees, mixup the colours of the buildings a bit, and just render it until it looks like a cityscape

The trick is to draw most of it as a solid block of color. Don't focus on details, just focus on making something that looks like a city when you squint.
Remember: your audience will not be looking at this panel for more than a minute at best, probably more like a few seconds.

What you do is draw or just picture some of those roads turning at an odd angle, then draw buildings along that trajectory. Like, just add a curving street right through the middle of that cluster of buildings, then rotate the buildings that line it to face the new street. It will make the city look much more natural.
>>
>>7990692
Thats an plein air approach, for sure. But i have to design the city, its post-apocalyptic, its not modern Japan. And it's about people with superhuman strength, so the can jump up high, and interact with the architecture, i don't think color shapes will do it.

I could do it by using some crotches. But i would like to have something, that just works.
I asked before about Lazy Nezumi i cant make it run with csp.
In Lazy Nezumi it wouldn't be that hard, you can change the angles by typing a number, not by sliding lines with no indication, like in csp.

I mean in theory, its not rocket since.
You have horizon line and you have 2 vanishing poionts. Lets say 45 and 45, 90 together. You can have more vanishing point on the same horizon line, as long as it has the same sum of 90, it will work.
I tried to do it in csp and at just don't work.

My advice would be to be mindful of fat placement, hips, and shoulders. Spend enough time in /a/, /co/, or /v/ threads about female characters and you'll notice it doesn't take much to set off the need to breed. Sometimes just a simple face with dot eyes and eyelashes. Draw a stick figure type design like Adventure Time or whatever, make the thighs slightly pronounced, do a bit of hourglass on the torso, put a lash on each eye, give it long-ish hair, there's your basic template.
>>
>>7991093
Why do you make the torsos so short
>>
>>7991093
I'm going to level with you: there is nothing even remotely attractive about this. Just judging on all the things you've posted in the past, your designs, your style, your proportions do not really evoke any sense of traditional attractiveness. I agree with the other guy; If you're going for a weird horror or monster design, I think they work somewhat. Your characters look spindly and almost insect-like with thin, lanky limbs and even kind of off-putting facial designs and features.

I think you have plenty of technical skill, I think you can individually make some decent parts, but putting them together doesn't really do much. I think it is strange to want "the male gaze" but then don't want to put much of an actual traditional "sexiness" into their designs.

If your aim is Monster High, I think you're missing the mark. Coincidentally, you're probably lander closer to the later direct-to-video schlocky Night of the Living Dead movies. MH barely added many monstrous elements to the characters, they more leaned into the cutesy factor.

I don't think they should change their style either but there's nothing wrong with trying out a type of appeal you may not be familiar with. I tweaked one of my characters to try and make him potentially look more attractive to females and it turned out looking cooler than he originally looked.

It's just Mehitabel. I thought men liked longer legs. So I made a six foot tall (counting heels) woman who had long legs. Most of my other characters aren't drawn this way.

It's sort of a perception thing. Yes guys like legs but going overboard makes it a fetish and doing it without actually understanding the appeal can potentially lead to something unique from the intended effect. Look at those korean gacha girls, they appeal to legsfags but their proportions, while unrealistic, are still within a perceived realm of believability. Instead, to pander to this and that, certain angles are used in the cutscene CGs to accentuate the features that the artist wants to show off. Another reason you don't really have to change a character to fit a preference is because the viewer will already do it for whatever body part they're fixated on. They will just look at that part regardless of whether or not you emphasized it, it will be prominently featured in their own mind as though it was zoomed in on. Speaking from experience as a thighfag.

That's more frustrating, in a way. If you don't have the skill to draw something, you eventually will, but this isn't something you can "just keep trying" at - you need to learn somehow. I guess I'll have to try really hard to understand

>>7991176
People have been telling me to do that, but just as many people have wanted me to keep it short. I'm leaning short, mostly because I can't come up with a good design for it.

Also I'm going to give her a real midsection. Is that what people meant by her torso being too short? I misunderstood that...

I think my main problem is that his head is just too big, and the features are too defined. A 4 year old would still have a fair amount of babyfat on their face, and more rounded, less-defined features. Its also kind of weirdly shaped, and I think the hair style is kind of working against it too.

I would honestly look at maybe something like the Promised Neverland for how it depicted some of the smaller children. Even if you don't like it or its style, you could probably use it as a starting point.
>>
>>7992282
If I make his head smaller, then we're pushing the 3-4 head tall proportions

forget shading for no and focus on using lines to create shadows. Look at the moat you drew, youdidnt draw a lone between the grass and water. This is good, that kind of variety makes it look like the other side of the moat is a sharper cliff because you drew a line. You need
>A) To know what MAKES a good composition
and
>B) To have an internal rolodex of good compositions you can draw from

The rules of good composition are easy to learn and intuitive - "important stuff should be big and close to the middle," "rough and scary stuff uses sharp, angular hsapes, while soft and welcoming stuff tends to use naturalistic shapes," "conservation of detail", "rule of thirds," so on and so on. From there you need inspiration on how to make a cool interesting image, and you learn that by looking at a lot of cool interesting images and leafing through them when you make something, and then going "Ah! that's a good idea, I could use that, cos in this page I wanna do X Y Z, and here we see this page doing something similar. However, Z isn't totally solved, so I'll modify it a bit by adding W."

>>
>>7994573

Assuming you mean just online, ideally, as often as possible. For long-running stories with kind of more in-depth narratives you want to keep people hooked. For a long time, many comics just updated 1-3 times a week, but it isn't the early 2000s anymore, where you were maybe competing with a couple dozen other comics. Now there are thousands upon thousands of comics out there, never mind all the other countless distractions that will quickly draw people away. A couple pages a week might be the only rate your workload allows, but again, if it is a more involved narrative, you might risk losing people by drip-feeding them little drops here and there. On the other hand, if you want to wait and batch-dump like a whole chapter, it might take months to get that much done, and people might drift away waiting around for the next dump.

Might be best to just batch-dump something like 5-10 pages every few weeks or something like that. Like, enough to be compelling to draw people back, but spaced out enough so they don't feel like they have to wait until the seasons change to get another update.

One of my biggest problems with comics is the scale. If a have a 2 panels of the same character on the same page, i never know how to draw and to render them in different zoom levels. Should i use the same line thikness, or vary them, should i ad more details if its a close up? But if i do change the line thickness and the amount of details, my style gets inconsistent.
>>
File: deathnote face scale 0720.jpg (644 KB, 1697x1177)

>>7994894
I've thought about this also.
From a technical approach, most manga is drawn traditionally using a nib, this limits the size of the lines to a certain range.
But beyond that there is the need for legibility. I've made this collage of deathnote, Light Yagami often has the same expression so it's easy to find similiar examples at different scales. None of these drawings have been made bigger or smaller, these are all to scale of the page on the left here.
It's a bit blurry unfortunately, but you should be able to see somewhat how the faces have been drawn at each scale.
>>
File: small figures manga 0802.jpg (993 KB, 1416x1090)

>>7994898
This is a slightly different collage I made a while back but shows alot of the same things.
This one was focussed on how to draw characters when they are small on the page, either in the background or stuff like that. Again all the drawings are to the scale of the page on the right here. They have not been resized.
>>
File: comic scale 0720.jpg (1.26 MB, 4061x1254)

>>7994900
Also consider the scale it's going to be read at, and ask yourself the simple question of "is this big enough?"
Whether it's in a book or whatever size, or on a computer screen, or on a phone, put your comic at that scale and judge it by its legibility.
You should be able to immediately understand what's going on in any panel no matter how small. If you have to squint to figure it out, it's too small.

(Please pay no attention to the specific choice of comics depicted in pic related. I know that western comics on the left are not this small, that they are normally printed in a larger format, it simply served as an easy example of what drawing too small for a tankobon size would look like)

Thx, anon, thats helpful.
All this feels a lot more natural when drawing on paper. For me its mostly a problem when working digital.
In the example of Death Note the style changes. Close ups are much more detailed. Compared to the middle-sized frames. There would be enough space for more detail in the eyes, but they are simplified.
I think i need to lock 3 styles of rendering in my head, small, middle and close up. I think the sizes in-between that are hard for me. I think i try to invent new styles for any zoom level instead of forcing it, to one of the 3.

Is there a hack that Koreans do for getting webtoon illustrations out so quickly? A chapter is like the length of 4-5 manga chapters and they release like almost the same schedule.
>>
>>7995566
I only care to work on my ongoing series, something that they obviously would not be interested in. So no submission for me unfortunately but it's ok.
>>7995618
>hack that Koreans do for getting webtoon illustrations out so quickly
It's called 16 hour days working in groups of 4-6 worst koreans while you shit out everything as fast as you can from a 3d model. All of that stress, all of that work, just so that a salaryman or woman can read it when bored while they take a work day poo. It's fucking hell.
>>
>>7995711
Dude you CAN just submit a chapters worth of pages that can stand on its own as its own submission. Like the limit is 55 -60 pages bro thats enough to thats like 2 chapters worth thaeres bound a more standalone arc in your story
>>
>>7995883
>We primarily seek complete, stand-alone stories. >That said, submissions of the first chapter of a series are also accepted
>my first chapter is also my shittiest art and shittiest plot
Like I said, I'm good lol, but thanks for trying with me nevertheless. My hope is that somebody else from /mmg/ at least is able to make it to the editorial review round.
>>
>>7995905
Okay Im not gonna convince you here, but for the sake of someone else in the thread reading this, YOU CAN JUST SUBMIT SOMETHING FROM AN EXISTING STORY
I aint pulling that from my ass, I got that from while researching and hearing from people who submitted and talked to editors
https://youtu.be/OLuD9o15rcA?si=2RBk_ospGtBRKH4s
Her and others talked about submission for already existing stories and the girl in my vid specifically mentioned how she was working on a chapter about how on of their main characters is a doctor and might have poisoned someone and how they deal with that and one of the editors said "Hey when you finish try submitting that to the contest" So if this fucker is gonna submit a chapter in her story then by all fucking means why not (You) reading this post right now. Like you left out a key part in your quote there anon
>as long as the chapter can be read and enjoyed independently.
They arent gonna know that your chapter 1 is Chapter 500 where shit starts getting cool bro. Its like how in the original Star Wars how they originally had this whole section of introducing who Luke Skywalker was only to cut ahead to the robot slave ship and getting the new bots.(You) can do that for this contest

Nta and you're right that consistent output is key, but rather than entire pages something that also works is just updates in general, like a partial WIP of a panel or some asinine opinion you feel like posting or a life update or a gaming stream. Not defending it, it's just the meta.
>>
>>7995566
I was actually going to submit something but it's asking for B5 when all of my pages are B4
>>

All of your pages are before what, anon? :^)

Jesus you guys you gotta stop being so anal with these rules man. The site lists an APPROXIMATE size to work with its not a harsh guideline. Like in the same page it also says that you can have a maximum size of 30,000 pixels on any single side.
Like in a hypothetical scenario where an editor finds your work interesting out of the whole lot but sees that your page size is slightly off Im sure they would just make it a comment for you to consider not a complete disqualification

>Make sure to include the page number on each page.
Does that mean they want us to actually write the page number on each page?

Yeah probably. I personally ignored that step and just gave em a PDF of my story for reading reference so they dont get confused about page order. Adding those numbers is a pain in the ass plus I know my shit getting a grand prize is a long shot anyway. Im just aiming for editor feedback anyway so losing a point and not getting my pwecious wescious CSP EX(Pro works just fine) still makes it worth submitting in my opinion.

Yeah that would be the reason for https://fantasyjank.cfw.me/ which is now completed for what it meant to be. Japanese translation any year now.

oops
the filenames are numbered

of course MY manga about big fat titty bitches getting raped can only be appreciated while drinking a nice cup of tea with leaves brewed for 16 hours, you also need to be in a mountain house during fall (THIS IS IMPORTANT YOU CAN ONLY DO IT DURING FALL) and you cannot jerk it while reading it, I don't want your jizz to ruin the sacred manuscript as I don't make copies, did I mention I started drawing three days ago?

Guys, im developing the world for my manga. Its set in medieval Germany. Its fantasy, i don't want it be too historical, but i don't want influences from another fantasy work.
Where can i find visual representation of historical wardrobe? Pinterest is very limited and overused.
>>
>>7996813
Google "german [stories/movies/shows/comics/books] set in [ye olden days]" and check out whatever shows up or "what was [german thing] like [in dinosaur times]"

Meant to respond then, but thanks, I've been doing some studies to actually understand the jojo style more, so its good its rubbing off a bit, cause I think the part 7 style is amazing. I'm probably gonna have my characters have more "jojo" style clothing later as well.

>>7996813
I dont think most people care about accuracy, but more as long as it feels accurate so it doesnt have to be 100%. Probably, shows and movies set during then, and also medieval germany reenactors. You could use them somebodies cosplay at a reenactment as a base, and then add some flair too it

Worse quality overall, 3D slop everywhere, and basic paneling in vertical comics make it easier and faster to storyboard. Just like professional manga authors have assistants, popular webtoons have studios/assistants as well. Also, they accumulate many chapters ahead of time during release, and hiatuses/long pauses/between seasons are oftentimes used for getting ahead again. They render slop line art with lots of color/rendering effects. And of course, probably what the other anon said, working like hell.

>A chapter is like the length of 4-5 manga chapters and they release like almost the same schedule.

Doubt that. Most of them have awful pacing, so it might feel like it, but they aren't that different from weekly manga chapters. And the "prepare a bunch of chapters ahead of time" helps here. You can see that once they are required to actually deliver a chapter from start to finish in the week, the size decreases. Many popular webtoons had issues with that, even leading to weirdly short chapters or forcing hiatuses midway.

Like anon said, their panels are basic and it's one of the main reasons I immediately dropped vertical comics. It's like reading a visual novel where it's just a portrait and text and the occasional CG, only between each line of dialogue is a mile of white space for, and I can't stress this enough, LITERALLY no reason.

Alright, done.
These are far from finished designs, though.
>>
>>7996967
Pro tip: Make things easy for yourself. If you know something is going to be a pain in the ballsack to draw, change it.
If you want to stick with the design knowing you'll hate drawing it, you have nobody to blame but yourself when it eats up your time and is the source of a whole lot of pain. It doesn't have to be that way.
>>
>>7996967
Can tell you are really into upper bodies

>between each line of dialogue is a mile of white space for, and I can't stress this enough, LITERALLY no reason
They probably do it so that it crudely simulates the delay in reading when switching between panels in a normal comic. That, or it's solely to pad out the read time of each chapter so that the reader feels like they spent more time on each chapter and that they don't realize each chapter is actually insanely short - kind of like empty/worthless calories from a junk food snack but in comic form.

Im obssessed in making extra pages between pages because I think the pacing was too rushed but I guess it cant be helped

Sometimes things need to slow down to catch their breath. Don't sweat it, anon.
>>
>>7996902
>>7997033
They do it so they can fit more ads into each chapter, guys. Ads wedged between pages is part of Webtoons' business model.
>>
>>7997008
Oh, don't worry. Most of these designs will be sanded down; I always try to go with something bold on the first revision, then draw it a few times more, and inevitably bits get simplified or removed because By God I Am Not Drawing Ratt's Hair Spikes Multiple Times a Page. It's better to start really striking and work down to something practical but still striking, than to start with something that's guaranteed to be practical, but likely to be boring, right?

>>7997021
They just fit together so perfectly, and they're so pretty!
I've studied them from the inside out - literally - and I can say that God did an excellent job. I'd like to have a word with Him regarding feet though.
