Inking, character design, paneling / layout, writing, planning, and other discussions are all welcome.Post resources, questions, in-progress pages, breakdowns of other works, etc. If a work is not yours, credit the maker (unless it's fucking obvious like a full page of One Piece or something). Thanks to everyone for making /mmg/ a level-headed and helpful place. One day I'll finish my story. And I'm sure people will remember it! And I want them to remember it as more than some amateur's first manga!
lets hope this post is partly ironic and anon wont crash out and give up after he fails at his first comic
Hey laundrymom if your still here I’m a huge fan of devils moon, what are the anime or other pieces of media that influenced you to make this manga?
>>7985431You only fail if you give up
WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO STRETCH MY HANDS AND FINGERS CONSTANTLY AND SOMETIMES GET UP AND WALK AROUND DURING LONG DRAWING SESSIONS
I've been feeling like some scenes on my story were too boring, and I was going to keep them as they are hoping it was just my author's desensitization talking. But after making some changes I realized they really were too boring and it was a good idea to change them. So if you ever feel the same way about your story, it's best to listen to your gut and make some changes.
Have you been published yet, Alice anon?
>>7985530Dude that shit was posted fucking months ago no? Like unless you start seeing press releases right now hyping up a new release odds are that shit is still being worked on(assuming the anon wasnt just a poser). Like even the best pitches might be seen by a more shitty editor and you gotta wait until another opportunity comes up.
>>7985470There is a process>part of the brain that "just knows" has a small hunch that scene/art is slightly off or potentially just meh in general>spend hours coping and trying to fix it>double down after spending longer than it would have taken to do something else from scratch>find out after fucking around>scrap the work and do something else from scratch
Do you usually incorporate elements of your own culture into your stories?I don't know how it is in your country, but here, depictions of regional culture in a story are highly valued. I’m from Brazil, where a "Brazilian Manga" movement has been growing; these cultural representations are highly appreciated, regardless of the story's genre. What I notice in this thread is that the stories tend to be quite universal, yet I still see many elements typical of Japanese culture. Are you overlooking your own culture?
>>7985569I personally think it's really lame when a non-Japanese author incorporates obvious Japanese elements into their story. You can get away with it if your story is literally set in Japan, but I've seen even in fantasy stories they'll give their characters Japanese names and have them do Japanese things like bowing or whatever that joke is where they poke someone in the ass.The Japanisms in Japanese works aren't really intentional, they're just what they know or find funny. You should find similiar things in your own country that are interesting to outsiders, hell you might even create some weaboo equivelants of your own country from Japanese people. But don't call it cultural representation, that makes your culture out to be some sort of political stance and not a normal part of life in your country.
>>7985569I hate Germany.>>7985582I like Japan.
>>7985590>I hate Germany.Based.>I like Japan.Cringe.
>>7985582As for using Japanese names in stories, I see no problem with it, a story can feature a diverse cast of characters from different backgrounds.Japanese manga artists, for instance, often struggle to depict Western culture, frequently resulting in inaccurate or caricatured portrayals.
>>7985590That explains why almost all of your comics you post here are set in Germany and why you draw yourself as Goku.
>>7985673>>7985590Sounds like a muzzie import
>>7985530He didn't make it and likely won't.
>>7985730It would also explain why he made that one comic about some prince from a middle eastern country.>>7985761The teapot's lid coming off feels more like a BOMF or a POOF, but I am guessing you're going for that high shrill whistling from all the steam?
>>7985761Very sexy.
>>7985652It's charming when nips do it
>>7985766>but I am guessing you're going for that high shrill whistling from all the steam?yeah, I'm not too good with sfx it's something I've never practiced>>7985767*blushes*
First time drawing a manga, lads, wish me luck.
>>7985433Please respect that I am on hiatus and stop trying to squeeze info regarding my series out of me when I'm on break. Especially stop coming to places like this to get that info. This is not a devils moon general, and this is not a fanclub. I don't feel its necessary to take up space in the thread when I am not currently working. I shouldn't have to keep breaking my silence here for your sake.
>>7985856Wow. You're really autistic.
>>7985950what dude? what? what is it? what is the fucking problem? what did I say that was so fucking wrong? seriously, everything I say gets a reaction like this. Just an endless spiral of contrarianism all the way down. context never matters.this dude was asking last thread for wip material, and I handed him whole storyboards. now he wants to ask basic ass questions that he can just ask on my socials. ignoring that I'm on hiatus when any "fan" should know that's the case. I'm not going to prioritize devils moon for the sake of one obsessed guy who wants to take a mile when I give an inch. I'm always blamed when some jackass decides to follow me around online. and for some reason you all bitch and moan when I try to shoo them off. For fucks sake.
>>7985950Spoken like a third party shitposter with no stake in the conversation
>>7985782For that steaming sound I'd probably go with "fwee" instead, the current one is fine and fwee looks sillier but might get the idea across faster.
>>7985972
>>7985814You can claim it's a stylistic choice but I'd recommend finishing the drawings, as in drawing connective lines in those spaces where one part seemingly leads to another like the window for example which just drifts off into negative space.
>>7985972Why do you even entertain this shit? You could have just ignored it. If this were HYW you would already be made a lolcow I remember when one of the rules of the internet was "don't feed the trolls"
thank you to the anon who suggested the bubble pen tool. Setting it to "rough" pen style looks freaking fantastic and the bubbles somehow are extremely smooth and better than if I used my normal drawing pen. I wasted so many years drawing endless circles and ovals like a retard
Am I missing anything important by only using sakura pigma? Should I learn to use a dip pen?
>>7985856I think you're embarrassed that you're known on an anonymous board but you gotta just swallow that shame and be happy about it. Devil's moon is good and nobody here is bothered by some anon wanting to ask about it, everyone here is on your side man. what happens in /mmg/ stays in /mmg/
>>7986087People have told him repeatedly to let petty shit like this go since one of the main reasons he keeps getting trolled is he keeps letting himself get baited, so telling him again probably won't amount to much. If I didn't respect his dedication to the art grind I'd be joining the shitposters' side.
>>7986090I am happy to receive fan interest. but for months now I have received endless comments from the same reader in multiple places. going so far as to ask about stuff I was doing pre-2020 on clearly dead platforms. lately I feel like I am doing devils moon in service of one obsessive person. If this is not that person, I get why I sound like a fucking maniac. but right now I'm concerned about being followed around and bothered about a project that's on break. Especially since I've been followed around before and then had that brought up when people argue with me. Other readers have noticed this fan in the comments, and have even asked me about him.
>>7986111autistic fans is just part of the internet, cherish these people but dont depend on them for motivation. You could be changing someones life with your drawings, isn't that a good feeling?
roleplaying general
>>7986111Can't you just ignore him?>>7986113Spoken like someone who has not dealt with annoying fans who treat you with an undue degree of familiarity to conjure an emotional bond into existence so they can feel important by attaching their name to someone who is actually doing/making something.
>>7986119Maybe I just have a higher degree of tolerance? Ever think of that?
>>7986117I like the idea of playing an artist character but actually drawing is beyond the scope of my acting ability
>>7986122No, I think you're an annoying person enabler. Proof: I'm annoying and you replied to me, giving me attention which positively reinforced my behavior and made me believe it was a good idea to reply to you again.
>>7986125You're not annoying, you're beautiful and you deserve to be heard.
Like see, I would have to be pretty stupid to get baited by >>7986126 which is why I just won't reply to the post. Have fun getting ignored kek, enter a world of loneliness devoid of my attention and feel true despair.
>>7986126>>7986135The sexual tension is palpable
New chapter is up, but I just realized that I uploaded the title page with the typo to most sites... this is chp 35, not 36
>>7986172>not providing a linkOswald anon, people are lazy. I have your comic bookmarked, but for everyone else you gotta give them the link lol.
>>7986186I'm so bad at promotion. Also, I have no idea which site is best to link... but you're right. Herehttps://oswaldtheoverman.thecomicseries.com/comics/722/#content-start
>>7986089Dip pens give you more direct control over line width within each stroke, but are a lot harder to control as a result. You don't need to use 'em, but once you're practiced and capable with them they're a faster way to get clean strokes of variable width. Kinda like a brush but with a narrower range of widths. It's up to you whether or not that sounds like it's worth the effort.
>>7985569I fucking hate how much they shove Lampião ''myth" in every brazilian media and it get shilled and praised just because is cangaçocore. But despite all that, none of them became a national phenomenon. Like how much you will see an american comic being praised and shilled because it has a latina lesbian heroine but you never see anyone caring for it.
