I think if you're only going to do one shadow layer you're better off sticking with simpler shapes, for example the serratus definion there is total overkill and just distracts from the great lines and shape you've got going on, and the logic set by the head/hand shadows dictates most of that area would be in the same kind of shadow anyway, from the shirt. Same goes for the left rib, and left hand would be casting a shadow on the boob too.I'm just a /beg/ talking though, someone else could definitely outline it better. Right already looks fantastic to me.

I have not drawn for years now. I hate the lonely nature of drawing, the cruelity of the pencil and the vast effort required to create a nice image and the enormous possibility of decisions during the process, which tortures my obsessive compulsive mind. I wish there would be a healthy balance, but even the fun factor is just not there with that humiliation ritual time sink. Better pour your hours to something with more payoff.

Unless the gas mask is mandatory to her design, I'd suggest removing it so you can add more emphasize the expressions on her face to emphasize what she's saying.The monster design is cool but could use more definition in it's form. The rest of the monster's body behind the girl kinda look like a random mess of scribbles. I really liked the way you drew the teeth inside the monster, it looks great! I've been going through drawing on the right side of the brain and now feel like an octopus. Octopi have enough neurons in their tentacles that they can act independently. The brain tells them what it wants them to do, then the tentacle itself just figures out how to do it. That's the mindset I can now get myself into when drawing. My right hand just draws the lines on its own without needing any input. It still needs some refinement because it's horrible at keeping the lines proportional to whatever I'm trying to draw, and it's not great at sharp turns (it tends to do a little curve instead) but other than that it's fairly accurate. Is this what drawing on the right side of the brain is supposed to feel like or am I way off?

"ghosting" the line before you put it down can help too. use a basic brush and turn off stabilization so you can't cheat. don't spam undo, this forces you to think before every line. after you put a line down, ask yourself what went wrong. focus on that part, whether it was the start, in the middle or the end. try going slow, going fast, medium speed. pivot from the fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulder depending on the length of the line and whatever works for you.any more than 15 minutes and it's too boring. don't get stuck in the trap of doing these exercises over and over like some anons do.

did some sketches of the villainous footballer harry kane. Happy with how both of them turned out individually but a bit bothered by how they don't quite look like the same person. Think it's all about the facial features. Any advice? I am literally crying right now, my hand motor functions are so bad, even after 4 years of drawing I can't make a single line that I want without redrawing it for 10+ times. I literally waste hours upon hours of extra time on a single piece, because I have to redraw and redraw lines again and again and again, because they never look good AND confident. If I am fast they never have the exact curvature, thickness that I need and never stop where I need. If I am slow and deliberate they are wobbly and shitty and also don't have the shape I need somehow. My hand coordination has always been shit, I couldn't play a single song on guitar after weeks of training, I can't even do a sequence of simple hand gestures without training for couple hours. Coordination comes with muscle memory and repetition.I say that because I have the same issue, and I wish I could solve it in drawing the same way we can solve it in music.After I went back to drawing this year, I went full traditional for studies. I especially like pure black/white and heavy usage of hatching (such as Moebius and much of manga art), and I want to do it on paper. I practice tons of line warm-ups every day, but historically I still fuck it up a lot and struggle to see progress towards this desired "line confidence". However, because of how punishing it is to do things in ink only, many of the great artists say you are REQUIRED to give up on perfect lines, and to be honest, learning to go with the wrong lines seems a great skill for me to develop as well.I even imagine the ctrl-z age having worsened the issue by great margins. I mean, if you zoom in on works of artists such as Kim Jung Gi, there are messy lines and wobbly lines where you expect straight lines.All that said, for crisp line art, I have yet to see any hope of doing it half-descent.
