How do you decide the battle of "spend more time on it and try to make it look as good as you can" vs "just move on and finish it so you can start another one"?
>>
>>7987479
Usually for me it depends on what I'm in the mood for and how much time I want to spend. Working on new stuff is fun and exciting, but always abandoning a piece before you polish it to the best of your ability can become a bad habit. Some anons out there have been drawing for years and have never finished anything. You can always come back to it in a few days or weeks. With fresh eyes you'll see it a lot differently.
If you had a goal with the piece, ask yourself if it achieved that goal yet. How much longer would it take to reach that goal? Are you will to spend that time/effort on it? What would you do differently? What would the goal of your next piece be?
>>
Are you doomed if you got crap taste? I noticed I still struggle with symboldrawing but in new ways. I have gotten deep enough into the fundies to at least boarder on int but I struggle with the actual concepts. I see so many people online making OCs and storytelling and conveying emotion but I still default to just tropes like the thought process is femboy + maid dress end of thought and obviously then everything I do is bland af. My friend has actually tried giving me exercises to fix that habit but I still don't really feel any impulse towards making a real OC with a defined personality and story nstead of just a manifestation of a trope I like. nevermind actual social interaction between characters beyond fucking
>>
Should I color a drawing even tho I am not toally convinced by its quality? My coloring would take some time...
>>
>>7987653
If your goal is to just practice coloring specifically then sure, why not. But in general if you’re not happy with a piece you should be comfortable with scrapping it and moving on. Don’t feel chained to it. When you’re in the learning phase you want a tight, fast feedback loop where you iterate as quickly as possible. Moving onto the next drawing will give you an opportunity to apply what you learned from this one and not make the same mistakes again.

Should I use brush stabilizers as a beginner?
>>
>>7990945
For the most part I think you can just use whatever setting comes with the brush. If you are worried about it still, draw with a real pencil first and try to match the stabilization to that feeling.

People generally seem to like my drawings from photo references more but I find copying from references cheap. Drawing from imagination is definitely more fun to me but it's just so hard to create a quality with it which can compete with photo copies.

What should I do? It's what I hate about art. I don't just want to become a photo copy machine but at the same time I also don't want to draw mediocre shit nobody cares about.
>>
File: Emitting Light Test.png (990 KB, 1564x1619)

>>7987435
Why do lights look much better if the emitting part and the airbrushed part around it are two different hues?
In the first reference pic I noticed the actual emitting part is a cyan color while the airbrushed glow in a deeper blue, and then I threw in some more examples from YYH and tried to do a study; if I try to imitate the glow effect but with the emitting part being the same tone of blue it looks way more ugly and less "real" (and as you can see I tried the same with various other colors), but is that actually how it works? It has to have SOME basis in reality because underlighting/bipack glow used actual physical lights that they would shine through the cels, but I'm more confused about the mechanics.
I know that actual temperature/heat-based light works similar to that (the core of a typical fire is kind of yellowish because it's the hottest, and as the flickering embers separate and lose heat they become somewhere between orange and red), but I can't think of an IRL example of artificial lights working the same, so I'm confused and I don't know if there's a proper physics term for this phenomenon, especially because this kind of color grading is exponentially more common in cel-era animation (again emphasizing the color grading here, not how they physically achieved the glowing look overall using underlighting).
>>
>>7992860
>I can't think of an IRL example of artificial lights working the same, so I'm confused and I don't know if there's a proper physics term for this phenomenon
I don't know enough to answer your question, but look up the corona effect. I assume those effects are based on that or something similar, so it might give you a lead.

Any advice on how to draw moose antlers?
>>

Heh, that's a great question. They'd be really tricky to construct using bounding boxes or simple forms.

This page has a 3D model you can reorient easily:
https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/moose-antlers-743c1869b2084830922ad0637191ac70

Maybe just position them as you need and then draw what you see?
>>
I just deleted a piece I’d wasted 11 hours because I was angry at myself for making so little progress in all that time is that healthy also I hit the table really hard and my hand still hurts
>>
>>7994729
Deleting things is fine. It may be better to put them aside and then delete them when you're calmer, but it's still okay. You may even be able to recover it. (If you want it back, try to recover it sooner rather than later.)

Bashing your hand is stupid. You draw. You can't afford to damage your hand. Both actions seem rash. You can probably recognize when you're getting upset, and train yourself to go for a brief walk or something. When you return, if you're still determined to wreck yourself, you can do it with a clear head and in a focused manner.

The good thing here is that you're concerned about the quality of things you make. That puts you ahead of most.

"Society is pure cancer" seems like a viable theme to me. You wouldn't be the first artist to feel so. Searching for misanthropic artists will find you some, but many of the lists are by historians or casuals passing judgment. You'll probably have to dig a bit to find the best of them.

Props for posting James Ensor, Anon. He's a great painter and I almost never hear him talked about.

I have a question: In general, are shadows typically more or less saturated than the lights?

I understand that the color temperature of your shadows varies based on reflected light and the environment but the saturation level is something that eludes me so far.

It saturation level also a variable that just depends on the lighting situation or is there a rule of thumb that more knowledgeable artists know to make their lighting look appealing?

Any Krita pros here? Wondering if certain Photoshop features can be replicated in it, be it with addons or natively with some setting:

1. Keyboard shortcuts for flipping a selection (not the entire image) horizontally/vertically. This already exists as a function in the software but for some godforsaken reason only as buttons you need to manually press in the tool settings docker, with no way of assigning hotkeys to it as far as I can tell.

2. Using shift to draw perfectly straight lines. Holding shift in PS while using the brush locks it to horizontal or vertical lines, and you can draw perfect lines using whatever brush you have. Also shift clicking lets you draw straight lines between arbitrary points using any brush, and it chains, so you can draw perfectly straight-edged polygons like with the polygonal lasso tool. Krita as far as I can tell wants me to mess around with a separate line tool which is clunky as hell.
>>
>>7995732
in krita the v key lets you draw lines. holding shift with v lets you lock it to 15 degree increments.

You need to know how to draw realistic human heads before you draw furry heads, anon. Furry heads (and bodies) are ultimately rooted in human anatomy!

Is bargue plates the best way to grind edge control/rendering? I have a feeling this is a fundamental i’d much rather have under control early than later
>>
>>7992860
if something is glowing then it's overexposed, which means your eyes havent adjust to the brightness and the imperfections in the lens are scattering some of the light more noticeably, lets say you had a colour in rgb 0.1 0.4 0.8 which is like a darker blue, if you tried to double the brightness of this what you get is 0.2 0.8 1.0 which is a bright cyan, you cannot see beyond 1.0 here so the colour changes,
so if you had an orange colour, which is basically red and green but red is more dominant, if you increased the brightness to the point it's overexposed then you get a more yellow colour because the red cant be any redder past a certain point so the red and green are closer together and appear yellow, the glow around an overexposed colour is a lower brightness of the colour so it appears as the original colour in terms of proportion in rgb values.
atleast thats my theory and what makes sense to me
tl:dr the individual rgb values of a colour caps out if it's too bright so the glow resembles the original colour more than the bright colour

Just wondering if Proko is worth it? I am an attorney looking to draw in my free time and create some sketches for some fantasy series I got published (well a few short stories published)
I'd like to get better, and would be willing to shell out the $150 for the drawing basics course, but I was just wondering what the consensus was...
I've pirated a few Vilppu things, and don't really know where to go and if any anons had any advice, thanks
>>
>>7998610
Since it sounds like you can afford it, it can save you time getting started just by providing the structure. It won't teach you how to draw by itself but it might help you to build initial momentum if you need it, especially by giving you the projects and community feedback.
>>
>>7998604
>be faster and stop overthinking.
If you are very slow and it's not because you haven't done much drawing there is a problem with your workflow.
Overthinking means you don't understand what you are doing well enough to make a confident decision. Instead of turning your brain off, break the problem down and figure out which fundamental you get hung up on, then do a small study of it.
>>7998610
>Proko is worth it?
Before that, is a course worth it? The main advantages to buying a course is access to feedback from a teacher, having homework/projects decided for you, and having a commitment to keep up with the course.
The advantages are worth it if you need them, but if you don't then books are a far superior investment.
As for Proko specifically, he does get recommended here from time to time, but personally I don't like him.
A number of the videos included in his course are free on his youtube channel, I recommend you watch those first before making a decision.
Also consider checking the board sticky, as well as the OP posts on the various generals on this board. Those links are full of information and resources, you may find you don't need anything else.
>>
>>7998479
I'm working on this too at the moment and in my experience so far there's a huge gap between edge control alone and general rendering. For just grinding edge control and form shading it's probably as good as anything, but seems to be a good idea to throw in a few studies of other materials in color with that.

What type of perspective is this? I had a schizo theory about cropping areas of 5 point perspective grids to make sense of it but I'm kind of lost here, I'm thinking heavily distorted 3 point with a curved horizon line but I'd glad to read a perspective autist thoughts on this kind of distorted perspectives and how to make sense of them, especially for doing grids freehand and not feel like you're completely lost.
Also a 2nd question, when it comes to rule of thirds and railman composition, how much does the canvas size affect these rules until they become useless? Is there such a thing?

Hi anons. Is there a good resource out there for understanding how greyscale value 'maps' to colours? I'm trying to figure out how so using this as a reference (it's blown out in saturation, I know, I figured a bit more contrast would help make it easier to define values). I can see a lot of dark-mids and outright darks in the skin when I set it to grayscale, but then the actual colour version leans more towards light mids when I colour pick to figure out a rough guide for where I should be looking for a given tone. What gives?

i discovered a hack where you can isolate the base color of the image by duplicating the layer, making it greyscale, placing it on top of the original image and using the divide blend mode.

you can see shadows more clearly if you convert to grayscale then posterize.

if you were to paint the colors from from the top onto the bottom using multiply mode, it would look close to the original image.
>>
>>7999704
https://pixls.us/articles/digital-b-w-conversion-gimp/

There's more than one way to get to a greyscale image. Sure, you can just average the RGB values as you might expect, but there are other algorithms that weight the channels differently-- one of the methods, for example, accounts for the different sensitivity of the eye to different colors.

The above article tackles some of this, plus it's got a few photos with algorithm options you can click to see the difference in results.

For those familiar with Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, and Krita, is it possible to replicate Krita's erase blend mode so that it works in all three programs?

>>
>>8002056
I hate Krita's way of renaming/describing things that other programs standardize.
If I understood the link right, you can do that in PS and CSP with layer masks, but instead of using opaque pixels, the mask is opaque and the areas you erase from the mask also non-destructively erase from the main layer.

PS and CSP don't really have an erase blend mode, but Krita does seem to have transparency layer masks, so if you use layer masks it MIGHT transfer between programs.

How do you balance drawing what you see vs construction? I feel like drawing what you see is an entirely different mode than construction, and I’m not sure how you’re supposed to integrate the two
>>
>>8007196
>i take them from my sketchbook
er...why?

I keep mine in my sketchbook. Loose stuff goes in a bin that fits up to 9"x12" sheets. Large stuff goes in cardboard folios I cut from scrap. If you do this, be careful about crushing the edges of your work in the hinge. Finally, anything with alcohol marker gets stored between scrap sheets of paper. Some of my markers bleed long after usage...

I photograph or scan anything reasonably nice as a backup.

Note that cardboard folds a little unpredictably, even when clamped between a piece of wood and the edge of a table. If you want the edges of your folio to line up perfectly, fold the cardboard and then cut the folded piece to the dimensions you want. If you're cutting it with a knife, run a butterknife along the cut edges afterwards. This will save you quite a few papercuts over time.

I understand. I prefer to draw on folded loose paper, too, resting on whatever large flat book is handy on my lap. But, the loose paper was overwhelming, and so I started buying boxes of spiral-bound sketchbooks. They can lie open and flat for light tables, or we have a very slim light table that you can insert almost to the spine in any book.

I once was in a class where we produced large drawings (2'x3') of architectural elements like Corinthian columns. The instructor lacked table space, and so he kept them stacked on the floor under one of the tables where they wouldn't be stepped on, etc. Anyway, his office was flooded, and all the drawings were soaked with dirty water (not sewage, though, fire suppression system leaked). I got lucky, because once my drawing dried out, it had an aged map appearance, like it had been soaked in tea. But the point of my extensive bullshit is that accidents happen, and if you have a pile of work you want to preserve, keep it in a sealed plastic bin at the minimum.

can someone tell be about this renaissance perspective tool. a video of it being used would be nice. it was how they seemed to have traced what they were seeing onto a picture plane.
>>
>>8009740
It appears to me the devices allow the artist to set both a particular point of view and picture plane. The point of view is where the cord is anchored to the wall, and the picture plane is the sheet (that swings like a door).

In the upper image, left man touches some point on the subject mandolin with the end of a wand attached to a taught string. Right man holds his pencil at the intersection of picture plane and cord. The string is then pulled aside enough to swing the paper into place, and the mark corresponding to that point on the mandolin is made. (Note the weighted end of the string on the wall. This keeps the line taught, but also allows it to be deflected to permit the paper to swing into place.) Why the table has that great big drawer beneath I cannot fathom.

In the lower case, the picture plane is presumably transparent. The artist sights down an edge held taught and continuous with the cord. He holds the pen at the intersection of the sighted line and the transparent surface, and "traces" the urn.

That's what it looks like to me, anyway.

there's no simple fix for burnout, my man. you have to find a way to get away from the things that give you too much stress and then after you've been able to get your mind out of the stressful things, you can slowly start to get back and you need to be mindful about the amount of work you do. it's a long process

what DPI to choose when drawing? Does it makes a big difference if I choose 300 or 350 dpi?
>>
>>8013125
DPI doesn't matter unless you are planning to print your work, choosing a physical template e.g. (A4 @ 300 DPI) or using screentones effects/brushes that need a specific DPI to work correctly.
Just choose a pixel dimension for your canvas. 3k-4k on the long side is plenty as long as your device can handle it.

hello frens I am not an artist and hopefully this question is not too stupid but this picture that is being shitposted on /v/ made me wonder about anatomy. I see this "thicc" phenotype drawn a lot but I don't understand the widest part of the body being so far below the pussy level. when I look at other illustrations or when I creep on women in real life I have observed that the widest part is usually at the butt level slightly higher than the pussy. I have seen the other example a few times in real life but it was all on fat black women. can someone who understands anatomy explain what is going on here?
>>
>>8013355
Yeah the widest point would be the padding around the greater trochanter and usually that's not visibly below the pubic bone. Pretty sure whatever BBL or hip surgery a lot of OF girls have gotten lately brings this lower and rounds out the hips to avoid "hip dips" but maybe there are reasons why it would be naturally lower too.

Can someone who knows perspective explain what is going on here? Is this accurate or close to correct? He's using horizontal lines on a drawing so he can use them as reference on a new angle, I think I've heard of this before but something about this makes me question if this method he is using is anything but nonsense. Can someone verify if it's actually useful? over 360k people watched it and seem to find it useful, but that part in particular doesn't make sense to me.
>>
>>8016867
Youtube cattle will watch any slop put in front of them. He is going by experience (feeling le form) but it's basically just free-hand orthographic projection what he is doing and you will learn it if you read a perspective book
>>
>>8016785
>>8016852
You're not ready for it, it'll be the same with a lot of books. Just skim it, try to pick up (ideally write down) what you can and keep it in mind whenever you draw, come back to it periodically and see if anything makes sense that didn't before. Also for Hampton in particular you can watch his video demos as a supplement to see how the process works. If you're copying the figures remember that the goal isn't to end up with a good drawing, it's to understand what the text is saying and how the figure relates to that. Copying it quickly and crudely can be better as long as you capture the main idea.

idk if there's a more "legit" way of doing this but this seems to work well enough. Use the bisect tool to generate a new loop around the surface of the object, then save the selected vertices to a new vertex group. Create as many loops as you want and then reselect all of the vertex groups to highlight all of them at once. Might be a way of making it look prettier than this but this should be good enough to trace over. Useful if you're doing perspective exercises and want to make sure you have your wrapping lines correct

Gaslight yourself into fixing one more thing, one more thing being a myriad of nitpicks to keep you busy. The condition is you'll only spray your DNA if they are properly addressed, so basically you'll finish the painting before it happens.
Another carrot and stick trick, make many sketch iterations, paintings and drawings, only the best one is worth giving your seed. There's the potential of a better drawing in the form of a different character and scene, you just haven't made it yet, so there's still a drive to keep improving and being critical of your process.
For not feeling like putting the effort, using a psychology trick such as "what's the best next thing I could do" because the bar of resistance for nutting is low and doing full drawings can be exhausting, pick something that's is doable, something like various thumbnails seeking for an ideal composition or appealing look can get you in a critical mindset, even if it's a rather simple exercise.
The idea here is not to give you a specific solution, but rather get you out of the coomer mindset and to keep you focused, and have a bunch of solutions you can default to so your brain resorts to being critical and then it becomes a habit.
>>
>>8018561

Can symmetry be practiced or it's natural for things to be a little skewed when freehanding? I really don't like the idea of having to set up models of rulers to draw a front facing face
>>
>>8019646
I remember it being very difficult as a complete beginner. Just pay attention to it, keeping it in mind when drawing and trying to fix it when it goes wrong was enough to fix it mostly. Often it can be an observational problem, not being able to think/draw in 3d or a hand-eye coordination problem, all are trainable skills. Keeping it in mind while sketching and drawing guidelines to keep things symmetrical helped. If they sketch is unsymmetrical, the drawing will come out unsymmetrical too. It's easier to fix mistakes in the sketching phase. Mirroring/flipping the canvas makes symmetrical errors obvious. Cover half the face, imagine what the other side should look like. Uncover it and you might notice some features are in the the wrong place. Repeat for the other side. Rhythm lines like Reilly Rhythms helped me too. Took a while but now it comes naturally. Every once in a while it still goes wonky, especially with faces at weird angles or if I get lazy and don't double check. Perfect symmetry looks unnatural so you can be 2-5% off or so for faces no problem. ~10% off for everything else.
>>
>>8018538
>Got any /beg/ book recommendations?
Not really. If you're studying by yourself it's on you to decide on your goals and find the right resources for that, then figure out where your'e falling short and the requisites you're lacking. If you can't do that by yourself you probably need a teacher. Having said that, the basics you need for Hampton are more explicit in Vilppu's Drawing Manual, but as a complete book that's still going to be a challenge. Just avoid burning yourself out trying to brute force a single book. Learn whatever you can from them now and if you continue drawing from observation and master studies you should find things start to click and the books gradually make more sense.
>>
>>8019646
Just keep flipping the canvas back and forth until it looks equally good no matter how you flip it. Don’t use a ruler, you want to have tiny micro imperfections so it looks natural

Good /beg/ books are Jason Brubaker's Cognitive Drawing, and Nathan Goldstein's The Art of Responsive Drawing. You should definitely get DRSB (Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain) and Color by Betty Edwards.

Don't touch most of the books /ic/ pushes until you've gone through these first and have done a lot of copying/studying and life drawing first. You also don't "need" Drawabox (at least not immediately) if you take the time to draw simple forms from various angles (cars, buildings, hands and heads and feet, weapons, glassware and bottles, etc).

/begs/ often struggle because they're often to "just draw" or "just study the fundamentals" or "study one of the books from the charts" but experienced artists forget that /begs/ need to specifically work on Gesture, Observation, Value, Form (which includes Line and Shape) and drawing from memory before they make the jump to constructive drawing books.

Yeah, in the sense that you do anything better when you’re relaxed. But drawing imo has more in common with mental skills like math than physical skills like sports. Being “locked in”, having good days and bad days, etc, those things don’t matter quite as much; drawing is more about relying on your accumulated store of knowledge than it is about physical performance. Once you have the knowledge and experience, you’ll draw well. And if you don’t have the knowledge, you can’t really fake it.

Then think deep about what you like and the movies, games, animes... And so on that do what you like in a way you want to emulate.

For me, the desire to create OCS came from wanting to create certain nsfw stuff but finding fan art limiting because nsfws without a bit of storytelling is mid at best and gets boring pretty fast. Storytelling is the thing that makes anything hit harder, many erogames and eroges I played would be mid at best if I only saw the CGS or animation outside of the context of the story. My favorite scenes were drawn by high /begs/

How do you learn to copy what you see? The more I do it, the more feels impossible, especially when I am doing figure drawing, I constantly mess up where pelvis, torso, neck, and shoulder are actually placed in spece.
>>
>>8028644
>How do you learn to copy what you see?
Go to the /beg/ thread OP and follow the links to an accuracy guide. I like the Dorian Iten one. It really helps to learn to shift your focus for different details to check against and keep yourself on track.
>I constantly mess up
Everyone does, get used to it. Keep correcting until you get there.
The other thing to keep in mind is that you only need perfect accuracy when you are training accuracy. When drawing figures, you don't have to copy. You can analyze, interpret, and recreate it. And you will often need to, because what we see doesn't always translate well into a drawing, or it's not precisely the way we want it to look.
If you're interested in more on that, Vilppu talks about it a lot. The links in the /beg/ OP or the board sticky have links to some of his lectures, I think.

1. PYW for a better answer.

2. The real and true answer to what you're asking is measurement, like grids and sight-size.

3. The next part is a bit useless if you don't understand the anatomy, especially for the neck and shoulders because there are multiple bones and muscles involved that if you don't know how they're binded together, they just magically float around - hence they'll look wrong when you draw them. I remember having trouble with all these areas, even though I knew the anatomy, but the thing I was missing was...

4. ...an understanding of landmarks, relative proportions, general alignments & range of movement of joints. Ask AI for lists of these, learn them and try be conscious of them while drawing.
For example, I know that a realistic looking body is about 7.5 heads tall.
The gap between the pubic bone and the solar plexus (centre of the chest , bottom of the breast bone) is about 2 heads tall.
The neck is often about half a head tall.
The insertion of the deltoid on the upper arm horizontally aligns with the male nipple
The wrist falls in line with the greater trochanter (where thigh joins pelvis) which also sits on the pubic bone.

You might have learned this already, but this kind of knowledge is what you need when you draw in perspective or with complex poses.

Here is how you copy what you see. On your canvas, draw three parallel horizontal lines. The top line represents the top of your reference. The bottom line represents the botom of your reference image. The third line is the midline, which as you might guess represents the midpoint of your reference image. You now have three points of reference when drawing. Check your drawing frequently against these points, and take your time while drawing. Speed will come with practice, but you need to draw with patience and intention in the beginning.

So what's the ultimate path for learning perspective, assuming you have infinite free time?

Currently looking at whether i should do Erik Olsen's Linear Perspective or Scott Robertson (also got video accompanying the chapters).

I feel to dumb to learn from books alone; I need video and exercises to hold my hand...

By the way, how much is perspective even used when dealing with foreshortening single figures. Is your average artist thinking of "this arm goes to the viewer in an 30 degree angle, so it needs to be shortened by so-and-so-much"? Or does everyone just do foreshortening just by what feels right

I see some gook artists are starting their figure drawing by putting down a perspective grid and designing their figures like cars, that seems a bit much - but shouldn't you be able to do some perspective calculations on your figures and have them line up, in the same way you can check for proper proportions of your figures??
>>
>>8028846
Learning perspective is something people make out to be WAY more complicated than it actually is.

All you need to do is draw from life and draw your immediate surroundings from various angles. As long as you put down your horizon line, place your vanishing points correctly, and keep everything scaled, you'll do just fine. If you do the DSRB exercise of a marker on a glass/plastic viewfinder, it makes this much easier if you're just starting out, especially if you're studying simple forms and 3D objects from around the house.

You should also be drawing simple shapes and grinding lines to make things easier for yourself later on.

>Learning perspective is something people make out to be WAY more complicated than it actually is.
I do agree with this, it’s intrinsically not that complicated and your goal is just to learn to guesstimate anyway, rather than learning the math. But at the same time, a lot of people THINK they’re good at perspective when they’re actually not. They assume they’ve mastered it because they know “closer = bigger”, but then they’re still shit at drawing freehand boxes. So when you’re learning perspective, you need to check yourself with exercises like that to make sure you really understand it and can apply it
>>
>>8028848
Maybe because it is actually hard to learn?
The theory is easy, just a bunch of lines coming from the vanishing points. But in practice who can do it?

I think maybe I enjoy the process of making it but I am seemingly not able to get off to the finished result. I would think it has to do with the fact I'm not particularly good at drawing NSFW as I'm still learning, but I can easily get off to someone else's shitty drawings as long as they have my fetish, so clearly that's not it.

two parts:
1. your hand needs to do what you want it to, this is why you do drawing exercises drawing the circle 100 times or whatever. it's like learning writing when you were a kid.
2. you need to see what you see and not what your brain thinks it is. don't draw an eye as an eye draw it as a series of shapes. turning the reference upside down can help but divorcing what you really see from what you know it is helps. this is basically "drawing on the right side of the brain"

>>8028397

What does that have to do with advice for copying what you see? Those are different skills.
Although in the case of my answer >>8028664 to analyze, interpret, and recreate instead of copying, that does help. If you understand the structure of your subject you can develop it any way you like.
>there was an angle/twist/contrapposto, which now disappeared
You need more practice with forms. The first few chapters of the Vilppu drawing manual are dedicated to that. Drawing spherical and box forms, manipulating them, using overlap to display twists and depth. Then in the next chapters it takes those same forms and develops them into figures.

>I put the pelvis, neck and shoulders in the wrong place
> WHERE DID THE DYNAMISMISMISM GO?! THE CONTRAPASTA!
I don't even know what contrapposto is, but If you cant copy what you see, meaning draw something directly from reference, how would you ever expect to be able to draw it from imagination? How do you think drawing works exactly? How do you think learning works?

Like, I was about to give you a serious answer by reading between the lines of what you're saying, but it's painfully obvious that you're a beg trying to get fast results.

The only answer you need is to pick up any art book on figure drawing, try Morpho's Simplified Forms, and just trace the illustrations for now. Believe it or not, you will likely learn a lot from that. I won't outline what exactly you'll learn because it seems you'll let it fly over your head.
Sorry to be harsh, but If you're not interested in learning (memorising) constructive frameworks and simple forms mannequinizations - AS A MEANS TO LEARN AND RECALL how to draw figures - then you will simply continue to draw spaghetti people.

PYW if you're serious about wanting help. I will try to give you genuine advice.

In theory, what he is doing may help you to reorient a drawing. That triangle at left is the intended point of view for the second drawing. The vertical ochre line at left is the intended picture plane for the second drawing, seen edge-on. By tracing lines of sight from the point of view through key parts of the first figure and onto the picture plane, he can locate the vertical positions of those elements in the second sketch.

For example, a line drawn from the POV through the elbow will reveal where on the picture plane that elbow appears (vertically). He can then draw a horizontal line to the new sketch and the elbow should appear at that height. Note that as drawn, he gets no horizontal information using this process.

He is making such a complete fucking mess of it as to render the lesson more harmful than useless. He's scaling the new figure up. He's not bothering to sight the heights of elements onto the picture plane properly. He's trying to demonstrate a process and at the same time ignoring that process.

In short, there is nothing for you here. Don't waste your time with it.

Many manga drawing books simplify the subject nicely:
-treat hair as tresses, groups of hairs that flow together in same direction
-consider how they are anchored to the head, and how they flow from there
-work the head in sections, back, middle, and front; you can sometimes treat them as layers

Here is a whole pile of such books:
