Not looking for a redraw but advice on how to improve my figure drawings.
I've been drawing from photos and doing gestures/silhouettes everyday this year and I'm still no better than I was last year.
>>
>>8027825
i think they're good but try spending less time per figure some guy said it looks doll like maybe going faster will help with making the pose flow better
>>
>>8027825
I've seen your inspiration map, you draw nothing like those artists and don't even attempt to. If you want to draw in your own style, you've accomplished it and it sucks balls
>>
/3RT/ sounds like a dumb name.

they way you draw lines (thick lines, lots of straights) looks ugly. especially since it looks like your goal is curvy coomer figures.

You also failed to read the fucking post next to the map about the artists I WANT to emulate, you illiterate retard. I literally said things like mechs and furries aren't things I necessarily want to draw, but those just happened to be SOME of the artists that inspired me.

Jesus I literally typed a list of artists I specifically wanted my art to look like but you keep bringing up that influence map and ignoring the posts that explained it.

I gave you this same advice like a year ago, but I'll say again.
You have so many bad habits it would take me a while to point out everything, so I'll tell you what to do instead. Stop trying to stylize the figure and try to copy more accurately when doing it from photos. Make sure to get the proportions right because yours are extremely inconsistent. Only then you can begin thinking about the forms.
Use a different pen, one that you struggle with, to force your brain to switch its mindset. Oh, and if you've ever head about line economy and you're trying to follow it, just completely forget about it until you've improved because it's not doing you good.

Gesture will help you. You draw nice mannequins but they are very very stiff.
>>
>>8028272
Redlines help your understand and solve problems that are specific/grounded, which is good if you're not a beg. Begs have problems with basic, broader concepts, and redlines are not going to help them very much in that case.
>>
>>8028281
I completely agree, which is the biggest issue with /asg/ because 95% of the posters there are beginners who cannot utilize a proper redline.
>>
>>8028281
It is probably equally helpful/unhelpful, as long as you can comprehend the change. For example, a person who draws like this [ ] will look at something like this [ ] as just a better drawing. But if you just move the eyes a bit lower, that is a change they can comprehend. Similarly, the person who painted the girl can see the different colors and change what they pick if they agree it looks better. But if you go full Sargent on them, they will just get sad.
>>
>>8028281
redlines do not help, its like math the answer sheet doesn't help you understand the problem.

>>
>>8028385
This guy did redlines on /ic/ not sure when.
https://exhentai.org/g/2788523/a46c011e85/
>>
Here's the thing about redlines: it's almost impossible to know how helpful they are, because the person asking rarely follows up with applying the advice given to them. They either realize how much work is ahead of them and abandon the piece in favor of a new one; or if the redline is particularly detailed and well drawn, they just use that as a basis instead of doing the work themselves. It's probably better to keep redlines as basic as possible to illustrate concepts.
>>
>>8028705
It's possible to know they weren't helpful when the begtard that got the redline makes the same mistake again. It happens way too often.
>>
>>8028479
>if you think redlines and studies are the same, you are truly helpless.
Says the baddraw
>>
>>8028705
Redlines are a goyslop concept to begin with.

There are corrections like some Japanese channels do, where they completely repaint/redraw the thing to actually fix its issues and make it look better as a finished piece while making it biased to their own style.
Then there are anime pipeline style corrections where you redraw the lineart on a separate layer in the exact style the anon was trying to attempt.

Redlines are just low effort slop where it always looks badly made but that's excused cause it's le educational or something. You should be posting pngs of your corrections on a new layer and make them actually high quality finished art level lines so that anons can learn, but obviously this is too high effort for the redlinoors farming /ic/ cred, it's much easier to slop some vague lines onto the page to illustrate "concepts" instead of actually making artistic corrections.

>It's probably better to keep redlines as basic as possible to illustrate concepts.
Those aren't "redlines", that's edutainment /ic/ street cred farming stuff.

>>
>>8028705
>if the redline is particularly detailed and well drawn, they just use that as a basis
which is how the animation pipeline works, and results in junior animators growing in skill from each correction
>>
>>8028745
This is probably true. But what's DEFINITELY true is 90% of people posting for crit don't know what the problem is they're asking about.

>You should be posting pngs of your corrections on a new layer and make them actually high quality finished art level lines so that anons can learn

Half these anon's know fuck all about style, how do you expect a red liner redoing the art in their style to help them anymore than trying to demonstrate the real problem in simple terms?

The solution is that either dumbass anons think critically, read the sticky and realise their problem is fundamental, OR red liners carry on posting "unhelpful" help to jerk themselves off at how good they are and how bad anon is (this is rarely the case btw, most of the time they just wanna help or warm up or some shit).

Which do you think is more conducive to progress here?
>>
>>8028756
> But what's DEFINITELY true is 90% of people posting for crit don't know what the problem is they're asking about.
Yeah I was mostly dunking on the redliners, but the beginners and people asking for corrections themselves need to be more based too.

> how do you expect a red liner redoing the art in their style
The issue is that if it's an actually good high effort style that anon is attempting (which granted is almost never so on /ic/) the redlooner himself cannot draw in it so they make it look like slop (biased towards their style) but excuse that with it being educational or something.

I have posted traces of pro Japanese works in these threads before and redlooners lack any discernment at all to see that it's a piece way beyond their skill level. They post sloppy lines drawn over it to show how "it's supposed to be done" without getting close to the quality of the lines I traced at all. Idk why they think this is acceptable at all, if you can't draw better than the person you're correcting even at the most obvious level you should not be farming /ic/ street cred by showing "concepts".

Ok but in this image the guy putting up perspective lines on a pose where limbs are bent at different angles is the true retard
>>
I want the muscles to be smooth and clear, but I find I draw them way too smooth and clear, its just open space. its supposed to have more subtle details to suggest things, and scratchy details than this, even if i want it smooth.
>>
like for example, this one has gooder 3D shapyness in the belly, but it still just needs a bit more "scratchy" detail I feel, like say in the arms

the arms are in a different angle from the torso and it makes it look like her right arm is a lot longer than her left's, also one hand should be tucked in if she is crossing her arms unless it was done on purpose, looks silly tho.
the chin shouldn't be that tucked in, it looks like the angle of the head it's pointing down a bit but the cheeckbone should be lower if we follow that angle, the eye in the left shoul be less visible too.
the hat could have better wrinkles and form, but that could depend on the stylization you are going for, since her boots and clothes follow some realistic drappery the flat shape of the top hat looks off in contrast imo.
