Not looking for a redraw but advice on how to improve my figure drawings.I've been drawing from photos and doing gestures/silhouettes everyday this year and I'm still no better than I was last year.
>>8027825i think they're good but try spending less time per figure some guy said it looks doll like maybe going faster will help with making the pose flow better
>>8027825I've seen your inspiration map, you draw nothing like those artists and don't even attempt to. If you want to draw in your own style, you've accomplished it and it sucks balls
/3RT/ sounds like a dumb name.>>8027825they way you draw lines (thick lines, lots of straights) looks ugly. especially since it looks like your goal is curvy coomer figures.
>>8027829>/3RT/ sounds like a dumb name.any better idea?
>>8027828You also failed to read the fucking post next to the map about the artists I WANT to emulate, you illiterate retard. I literally said things like mechs and furries aren't things I necessarily want to draw, but those just happened to be SOME of the artists that inspired me.Jesus I literally typed a list of artists I specifically wanted my art to look like but you keep bringing up that influence map and ignoring the posts that explained it.
>>8027828Why is /ic/ so aggressive these days
>>8027831/beg/
>>8027831just /RRR/ or /redline/
>>8027847slow board so it only takes one guy i've seen hundreds of posts by one guy in one thread get deleted on other boards
>>8027852>/RRR/SIR
>>8027810>Make sure to specify what area you're struggling withalso your goals, like what style/mood/genre you are going for. so people can give you advice that actually aligns with your goals.
>>8027831Keep it. /3RT/ is clever because it almost spells ART. It's a lot better than /RRR/
>>8027810This is what /beg/ is for. Another useless thread. If you want to fix the board kill/ignore discords but you can't since they are the ones ignoring new people thus creating a deadboard full of circlejerking and names.External input is always cancer. Now let me copy paste
>>8027853>slow boardDead board* The ppm is abysmal, only /beg/ gets a constant influx of new posts and the discord circlejerk constantly ignores the actual /begs/ in the /beg/ thread while shitting on the few people that still post their work for whatever reason. Not like /dad/ /alt/ /draw/ /drawshitpile/ are any different. No community no board
>>8027831/R3T/ is better than /3RT/
>>8027836Stagnate Others gave you good advice too, but you're too far up your ass It's all studies, never a finished work
Can someone help me with the folds here? Someone told me they look wrong but idk what to do, maybe its my line art, for reference >>8026959
>>8027853>>8027871tho board's faster than in its heyday, dumb zoomers

>>8028077This thread***>>8026388
>>8027917It's only faster in terms of number of post per thread, not number of posters who draw or post work.
>>8028091>it's only faster in term of things that can be quantified to prove me wrong, muh fee fees tho
No reason for this general, when we have /beg/. more split, no gains because it is the same crowd.
>>8027810>redline>awful offmodel goon trashgo back to /beg/

I love the dunning kruger that comes out of these threads, and that includes what I do myself.
>>8028209needed to put tits in the op for attention, dont take it too seriously>>8028209>Also if you're just picking from /beg/, why not keep it in /beg/?where the fuck am i supposed to pick from when the thread doesnt exist yet?
>>8027825I gave you this same advice like a year ago, but I'll say again. You have so many bad habits it would take me a while to point out everything, so I'll tell you what to do instead. Stop trying to stylize the figure and try to copy more accurately when doing it from photos. Make sure to get the proportions right because yours are extremely inconsistent. Only then you can begin thinking about the forms.Use a different pen, one that you struggle with, to force your brain to switch its mindset. Oh, and if you've ever head about line economy and you're trying to follow it, just completely forget about it until you've improved because it's not doing you good.
>chicken scratch redlineasg gives better redlines thanks
>>8028268No one improves on /asg/, even when given redlines.
>>8027825Gesture will help you. You draw nice mannequins but they are very very stiff.
>>8028272Redlines help your understand and solve problems that are specific/grounded, which is good if you're not a beg. Begs have problems with basic, broader concepts, and redlines are not going to help them very much in that case.
>>8028281I completely agree, which is the biggest issue with /asg/ because 95% of the posters there are beginners who cannot utilize a proper redline.
>>8028281It is probably equally helpful/unhelpful, as long as you can comprehend the change. For example, a person who draws like this [ ] will look at something like this [ ] as just a better drawing. But if you just move the eyes a bit lower, that is a change they can comprehend. Similarly, the person who painted the girl can see the different colors and change what they pick if they agree it looks better. But if you go full Sargent on them, they will just get sad.
>>8028281redlines do not help, its like math the answer sheet doesn't help you understand the problem.
I remember that redliner who was making like 5 redlines a day on his redline threads. He filled the image limit all by himself. This is a lame travesty.
>>8028317yes they do
just fucking enable fappe tyme and hide all posts without images so you can ignore all the nodraw retardsyes this post included
>>8028317>like math the answer sheet doesn't help you understand the problemyou're brown

>>8027958cute
>>8028360I'm black>>8028370if you think redlines and studies are the same, you are truly helpless.
>>8028385This guy did redlines on /ic/ not sure when.https://exhentai.org/g/2788523/a46c011e85/
Here's the thing about redlines: it's almost impossible to know how helpful they are, because the person asking rarely follows up with applying the advice given to them. They either realize how much work is ahead of them and abandon the piece in favor of a new one; or if the redline is particularly detailed and well drawn, they just use that as a basis instead of doing the work themselves. It's probably better to keep redlines as basic as possible to illustrate concepts.
>>8028705It's possible to know they weren't helpful when the begtard that got the redline makes the same mistake again. It happens way too often.
>>8028479>if you think redlines and studies are the same, you are truly helpless.Says the baddraw
>>8028705Redlines are a goyslop concept to begin with. There are corrections like some Japanese channels do, where they completely repaint/redraw the thing to actually fix its issues and make it look better as a finished piece while making it biased to their own style. Then there are anime pipeline style corrections where you redraw the lineart on a separate layer in the exact style the anon was trying to attempt.Redlines are just low effort slop where it always looks badly made but that's excused cause it's le educational or something. You should be posting pngs of your corrections on a new layer and make them actually high quality finished art level lines so that anons can learn, but obviously this is too high effort for the redlinoors farming /ic/ cred, it's much easier to slop some vague lines onto the page to illustrate "concepts" instead of actually making artistic corrections.>It's probably better to keep redlines as basic as possible to illustrate concepts. Those aren't "redlines", that's edutainment /ic/ street cred farming stuff.
>>8028705I had a different experience or outlook on this, but I just read the old threads, and fuck me, these OR's are funny aren't they?
>>8028705>if the redline is particularly detailed and well drawn, they just use that as a basiswhich is how the animation pipeline works, and results in junior animators growing in skill from each correction
>>8028745This is probably true. But what's DEFINITELY true is 90% of people posting for crit don't know what the problem is they're asking about. >You should be posting pngs of your corrections on a new layer and make them actually high quality finished art level lines so that anons can learnHalf these anon's know fuck all about style, how do you expect a red liner redoing the art in their style to help them anymore than trying to demonstrate the real problem in simple terms? The solution is that either dumbass anons think critically, read the sticky and realise their problem is fundamental, OR red liners carry on posting "unhelpful" help to jerk themselves off at how good they are and how bad anon is (this is rarely the case btw, most of the time they just wanna help or warm up or some shit). Which do you think is more conducive to progress here?
>>8028756> But what's DEFINITELY true is 90% of people posting for crit don't know what the problem is they're asking about.Yeah I was mostly dunking on the redliners, but the beginners and people asking for corrections themselves need to be more based too.> how do you expect a red liner redoing the art in their styleThe issue is that if it's an actually good high effort style that anon is attempting (which granted is almost never so on /ic/) the redlooner himself cannot draw in it so they make it look like slop (biased towards their style) but excuse that with it being educational or something.I have posted traces of pro Japanese works in these threads before and redlooners lack any discernment at all to see that it's a piece way beyond their skill level. They post sloppy lines drawn over it to show how "it's supposed to be done" without getting close to the quality of the lines I traced at all. Idk why they think this is acceptable at all, if you can't draw better than the person you're correcting even at the most obvious level you should not be farming /ic/ street cred by showing "concepts".
>>8028749Ok but in this image the guy putting up perspective lines on a pose where limbs are bent at different angles is the true retard
I want the muscles to be smooth and clear, but I find I draw them way too smooth and clear, its just open space. its supposed to have more subtle details to suggest things, and scratchy details than this, even if i want it smooth.
like for example, this one has gooder 3D shapyness in the belly, but it still just needs a bit more "scratchy" detail I feel, like say in the arms
the scratchy lines on the belly are the kind im thinking of, but I don't know how to do it. I want to be able to "suggest" forms better, especially for the belly and arm.
Still in the planning phase, don't want to cleanup yet. How can I improve? Thanks in advance.
It's already red, so a blackline(?) would be swell
>>8028953I just noticed the t-rex Arms on my own, but if there's anything else please highlight
>>8028825something like this or no cigar?
>>8028981the perspective of the implied ground plane vs the perspective of the shoes, makes it feel like the far leg is floatingI'd redline but I think you are skilled and able to see it
>>8028999it is helping just to see it, thanks
>>8029006Yup, you're correct. Come to think of it, for this sort of deep squat, both feet would have to be turned outwards too, so I have to change the far leg anyways. Thanks for the pointer!
>>8028874this is a bit too abstract to redline, maybe this is my light suggestion on perspectiveEven if you're going for a disorientating feel it's probably better to distort perspective rather then flattening it
something about the balance feels off. Especially the arm on the right. help please.
>>8028953the arms are in a different angle from the torso and it makes it look like her right arm is a lot longer than her left's, also one hand should be tucked in if she is crossing her arms unless it was done on purpose, looks silly tho.the chin shouldn't be that tucked in, it looks like the angle of the head it's pointing down a bit but the cheeckbone should be lower if we follow that angle, the eye in the left shoul be less visible too.the hat could have better wrinkles and form, but that could depend on the stylization you are going for, since her boots and clothes follow some realistic drappery the flat shape of the top hat looks off in contrast imo.
>>8029156IT'S DANDAN(@icantdravv)!!
>>8029155her left arm is way too long or im misjudging the length of her torso but then her shoulder to shoulder width would be too narrow, anyway the opening in the right sleeve should be wider
im trying to render my sketches, any tips for rendering butts and other parts?
