This study took me 2 hours - I thought it would be easy because of the clear shadows, but I guess not lol. By the time I got to the abs, I was pretty tired, so I didn't focus as hard on them. I think overall, I guessed the colors as too red, when they are more orange. Also, my process is a bit of a mess - ideally, one should do one thing after another, but I just kept jumping from part to part, drawring and blurring and drawin and blurring again. It does work, but it's probably not a good habit. Also, I should probably focus more on actually thinking in 3D, instead if blindly copying spots of color.

What's the point in trying to shit on the threads? You always come spamming low effort trash, you'll never have good technique cause you are a woman.

The russki all 2 of them have completly stagnated for years now and probably will never get any better due to all the poverty, their smart men died 60 years ago.

The site is already fucking dead and buried, constantly ignoring real begs cause every single one of you is a huge attention faggot that just uses the board as a dumping ground.

So what's the point? Why haven't you fucked off from the site already. It's the /begginner/ thread not clear enough?
>>
also i think it's funny, you mix the warhammer faggot with the horrible dogshit proportions and pro-tier rendering and the ruski thats been drawing on the same int level for god knows how long and you get a pretty well balanced artist.

/beg/ needs to move away from the attention whoring. It's not even a question anymore, this thread doesn't work. Shame there's not enough people anymore for the exact same reason

Good. The weak should fear the strong.
Early beg should just study basics first and draw. Advice before high /beg/ is pointless. Unless that advice is basic resources (Bridgman, Morpho, Proko, Force!) and a small roadmap of skills (perspective , gesture, simplification) right at the start of the journey.

But that gets reposted every day here, no need to even ask for it

I used to hate on monkey-fag and I'd seethe at the schizos and rage against the people who trained wrong or didn't value my advice. It's not worth it, man. It's poison to your craft even if you still draw and it kept me from drawing. Fill yourself with inspiration and focus on helping the people on the same wavelength as you. Next time someone pisses you off write it out and before you hit that post ask if writing it made you happy and if pressing that post button will improve your art. The answer is always no for me and I let it go and delete the post. The times I'm weak and I don't, I always regret it.

How are my circles looking? I am using a tablet without a screen, and honestly this tablet holder kind of sucks dick.
Another question, how the fuck do people draw rocks, water, and shit? It doesn't make sense. It's not my focus, I just want to draw cute girls in perspective, but god damn is it discouraging to know I can't do anything and won't for several years

Kim Jung Ji told his students that they should use reference, and that imaginative drawing is optional.
Speaking from experience imagination drawing is good for things like forcing memory recall when trying to learn muscles, but to draw the entire body at every angle is something even he found frustrating, and was mastered because he literally drew 15 hours a day everyday throughout his entire life.

I would try to unify everything with a single, complex dark shadow. That’s what Frazetta usually did: a harsh contrast, with the black helping create a path through the whole illustration. There are many shape “leaks” that help as entry points for the eye.
Something you could try is thresholding the whole image until it looks readable in pure black and white. Then use that mask and play around with filters and layer modes. I did this with this mask and set it to Burn mode.
https://files.catbox.moe/03x43a.jpg

I think this is a little easier and more interesting to read. I kinda like that only the top shapes of the dudes behind the space hamster are visible.

I want to draw OC characters but as a /beg/ I often find that I have no idea what I am doing or a concrete conceptualization of what I even want to do. I think I should just focus on making fanart of existing characters to improve my skills and imagination.

>>
>>8031170
improving your technical skill won't improve your creativity
>>
>>8031066
there is time to study but don't make it your whole routine, having fun is most important because if you lack passion your art will suffer. No one likes drawing cubes hundreds of times so what's something you can do along side that, that is also enjoyable? Drawing cars, buildings mechs, backgrounds. Once you understand the fundamentals of perspective it isn't that hard, all you really need is your midpoint, station point, horizon line, cone of vision, vanishing point, diverging and converging lines and even these can further be broken down into easy to use methods like ratios and predicting angles. It's good to study principles like these but you should try making something out of it too. If you make your time drawing only full of rigorous exercises and mechanical thought, it's going to lack substance. Even if you're not good at drawing I would argue that following a specific passion for subject matter is the best route to go down. Create consistency with drawing rather than just giving up from the boring reality of drawing cubes for 3 hours a day.

>you've climbed the ladder and are pulling it behind yourself
I'm not trying to shit on people, this is my genuine advice. Do your studies but also make time for art you enjoy on an equal or greater measure. The more pieces you make the more corrections you can make with your work, the more you improve. If you don't produce pieces you're really in a rut, no great artist is a study monkey. And above all don't make art miserable.

doing material studies like pic related can help, as it isolates the treatment of the different light factors, then you can apply the material in your own drawings
you don't need fancy layer modes or brushes, a hard brush and a soft brush is enough

I stare at the Y I have drawn and I try to visualize the cube it will become. I see it in my mind's eye as plain as day, each face, and their facing angle, too. Yet not their vertices, which lay upon the blurred periphery of my imagination. I search for them and find them, and I see the angles by which I must draw the lines from my Y to them in order to form the cube rightly. And yet, I no longer behold within my mind the faces of the cube I had but moments ago seen so clearly. As my focus travels from the faces to the vertices, the form shifts and wavers, undetectably so, for it gives only in the places which slip, in their own diminutive slice of time, out from under my attention, so that when I behold the whole, it seems to be the revealed shape of that thing I had a second ago only glimpsed. But upon putting pen to paper, it becomes evident: that alien thing which had come to reside within my mind hasn't the scantest correlation to the mangled configuration of stray lines now littering the page.

Most of the times, adding some big hair on top makes the face look way more cuter. Also just by moving the nose and mouth a little bit, can change everything. You already have the rendering and the lineart, you just need to calibrate the small details. You're almost there.

How is this for a start?
>>
>>8031603
Alright so the main thing I think has to be understood about faces is that any subtle change can completely change the way you read everything as a whole, so you have to be extremely patient and keep coming back to it as you work on other elements.

Secondly, I think that familiarizing yourself with the surface of (most) faces will help a lot. Just grab something like the image I put in the middle, literally just google something like "planes of the face" or something similar, and draw it the way you see it. Do that until you feel confident, then try drawing it from a different angle from the one you're seeing. You don't have to memorize a single schema with 100% accuracy since faces will vary from person to person, but having an idea of when and where bumps happen will help a lot in achieving a 3D look, especially for young female heads since they tend to be very smooth. If you're ever in doubt on whether or not the face you're drawing makes sense in three dimensions, try drawing a line through its surface like the example on the right. Just keep in mind that you need to practice first before you can confidently do this.

Lastly, I'd say find out whether you want to lean more into 2D or 3D. I say this because a lot of artists draw very angular and sharp faces and they still manage to look good, and I believe that is a slightly different skill than being able to perceive and position facial features in three dimensions, so you'd need to practice it separately. I could be wrong though since I haven't really tried, so just focus on steps one and two.

Also you picked a pretty difficult angle, I won't lie.

I've barely drawn over the past couple weeks. I feel like it's finally sank in that I'm the autistic permabeg I used to think I'd never be years ago, and it's sort of killed my will to continue.
I've become particularly resentful towards drawing because music used to be my thing. I was able to pick out songs by ear in a snap and jam along to anything. It was THE thing I was truly talented in.
But I've spent so much time drawing and studying art, I wish I could just undo all those hours and put them into my music instead. Then I'd have something to truly show for it. Instead all I have are piles of mediocre porn drawings no one will ever give a shit about or remember.
That resentment has built up to a point where I'm seriously considering burning my sketchbooks and selling my tablet, and going back to music 24/7.
Obviously, I'm still hesitant to commit to quitting, partially because sunk cost and partially because there are times I have had fun drawing. And I do think I'd regret it in the longterm if I quit.
Idk, my mental health is generally in the shitter and I go through these phases. So idk if any of these thoughts are real or if it's just my depression talking again.

>>
Fucking around with some new brushes and did some construction practice. I don't think I'll ever get the hang of it. I honestly think I got some more results from doing quick little figs, even if they were terrible.
I've set an arbitrary goal of "get good" but can I ever actually reach it? I've looked back to things I did a few months ago and while I can see I've improved, its not enough for me to see any noticeable quality difference. Is there some sort of enlightenment gained from grinding and grinding, a sudden epiphany, or do I just wallow in mediocrity? What the hell am I even drawing for? I don't really have any desire to go commercial, no stories that I need to tell the world, nothing I really have to express, no obsession to get out on canvas. Everything I'm drawing now is the same tired old shit; all I need to see how I'd draw in the future is just go on twitter and look at countless other artists producing the same soulless semirealistic slop.
