I really like the Victorian London aesthetic from stuff like Willy wonka or whatever

What is your favorite story set in Victorian London

I like the whole era between 1860 to 1920, from London, Paris' Belle epoque, but don't underestimate Germany, it was really comfy too.

The era is called "Gründerzeit" in Germany and refers to the founding of the German empire from 1871 on. They really created beautiful architecture back then. Some of the buildings survived WW2.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is a book set in an alternate Victorian era universe that I enjoyed.
It's written in the style of Victorian novels too though so not for everyone..

Holy comfy. That train over the river is quite stupid though. If something like that was built today people would scream that it ruined the atmosphere and view

You don't know the topology. Wuppertal is four towns in the river valley with often steep inclines towards the surrounding hills. You couldn't build a train in any other place there, over the river Wupper was and still is the only solution. It still runs and what's more it also runs in winter when bus lines shut down, because busses fail to go up the slopes when there's ice and snow.
