You can go to almost any city in SEA, the crime rates are as low as Japan and the cities look exactly the same. In fact almost all modern cities look the same I post pictures of Sao Paulo and say 'Japan is in 2050' and people believe me. Idk what you consider quality of life. If it's cheap, infrastructure works, and safe, then yes? Everyone has their own special definition of it. I personally think Taiwan has higher quality of life than most of Asia because the income is high, some people disagree with that because they don't waste money on public works as much as tourist traps do.

Japan is technically a welfare state, I never said I'd want to live in Korea, just if I went to the city it's equally as impressive in terms of infrastructure. If you can get a fake work job in Japan and live off minimal income or take your stronger currency and retire there it's probably better. Seems like most of the karoshi stuff was a lie anyway and Japanese will get jobs like being store greeters, sales, or crossing guards. Japan has had a one-party democracy that was literally CIA backed for nearly 80 years straight, so I'm failing to see the difference.
