Welcome to /flag/ + /extraflags/, a lovely general for Extraflags users that combines your passions for geography, maps AND travel by using the Extraflags extension

Threadly activities include travelposting, urbex, wilderness exploration, hunting for radioactive minerals, (extra)flag collecting, map filling, cycling across Europe, other autistic activities and overall funposting

>What is Extraflags?
Extraflags is an open-source browser userscript that lets you choose regional flags, like states and provinces, to add to your already existing default country flag.
Turns out it's very well suited for travel posting because you can flex with the ultrarare (or at least, nice) flags you're travelling to, rather than using it as a tripcode for tripfagging in other (shithole) threads

Instructions and video guides for installing Extraflags can be found here: https://flagtism.gitlab.io/Extra-Flags-for-4chan/
Requests to add or change flags can be made here: https://gitlab.com/flagtism/Extra-Flags-for-4chan/-/issues

quite nice already
what are you doing in UZ btw? working? because i now have *another* exam to prepare (althou i should still have free time if i respect my schedules) so based on your availability, the options are
>you continue to do what you can (there's *at least* another month of time)
>we split the remaining work
>i completely take over

just for clarity: usually i ask for help not because i'm lazy (not for /flag/ business at least) but because there is a lot of work behind the courtains that only i can do (coding, doing operations that can only be done with my scripts, making the control list, processing geodata)
so if i can delegate work that others can do too, i can concentrate on more technical parts

>when will we finally have flag dumps Manhattan anon. i need to update my maps
I've been focused on making some more changes on the hosting side to improve stability, and had a bit of a false start with hosting a local archive for country flags for dumps. At this point I instead will rely on archives for the data which is not ideal but we need to get the people their dumps.
I can then add the country data to https://api.flagtism.com/int/recent_flags_api2.php , which will then need to be either processed into XML if you want to use flagminer.
I should also note that in theory flagminer could be made to work now to generate current dumps.

>why haven't you posted your trip to Canada yet
Don't have can proxy to dump, my other trips have been posted of course.

intredasting idea but i think automatically posting on 4chan once a week is just easier? I would provide the pass
>>
I know most of you already have my flag but still for the couple that don't.

Noice. However, the important flag is not the country flag but the sub-national one. See pic-related ;)

I know, I know you collected the santa cruz flag from my post. I wanted to post when I was in sucre but I was with family most of the time and posting here is dangerous around normal people.
>>
>>214533386
Ah I see, your flags don't show up. Also, I don't have any Bolivian flags (yet!)

>I was with family most of the time and posting here is dangerous around normal people.

>>
>>214532971
>>214533386
for the 247th time: you have no flags and you aren't posting any, you never posted any in your life, not even the Santa Cruz Department one

https://desuarchive.org/int/search/text/Santa%20Cruz%20Department%2C%20Bolivia/country/IT/
the flag of the Santa Cruz Department was posted two times in the entire history of 4chan, one time in 2016 on /int/ and one time in 2017 on /sp/.
None of those was you and nobody ever collected anything from your flaglet post

tldr; you have to install extraflags to post here

>>214533363
it's not the first time this dude posts here, he thinks he is magically posting regional flags without installing extraflags and then when you point that out he doesn't reply
https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/195495631/#195584606
he also thinks this thread is about flag collecting so he refuses to install because he would never complete "the collection" or whatever the fuck that means
https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/195495631/#195594439
when you point out that this thread is not about flag collecting, again, he doesn't reply. very convenient innit
he also thinks that posting regional flags is a favour he does to us, notice the word choice "to help you out" always in https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/195495631/#195594439

honestly it's a pretty desperate case

immediatly southeast of Rome, a small mountain range called the Alban hills is found. It's part of the anti-Apennine range, a series of ranges separated from the main chain of the Apennines by deep valleys

on one of these hills (Monte Cavo, ancient Mons Albanus) the temple of Jupiter Latiaris, one of the most important religious sites in the whole Roman Empire, was found. today the site is unfortunately degraded and occupied by an abandoned monastery and illegal communication towers

this nice bridge leads to Albano's most prized feature: the railway station, which allowed me to reach Castel Gandolfo before dark. otherwise i could have walked all the way adding to my already 23 km hike of that day

also it's always nice to add a new railway line to your collections; for some reason, in the roman castles alone (that's how the villages in the Alban hills are called) there are THREE distinct railways: one to Frascati, one to Albano and one to Velletri

The other day, at the immigration office, I tried to explain something in basic English and after a while the person replied "Well, why don't you say it in Turkish then, come on!" upon learning I'm from Turkey lmao.

Numbers are exactly the same (how higher numbers are formed as well), so that's VERY useful.

and i know ive already posted this very route back in 2023 when i went to Donbass but i had to take a break
REALLY SUCKS UNWASHED DICKS that Krasnaya Polyana / Estosadok / Rosa Khutor do not have flags on their own (pic)

also, Ovodda, should i keep my Voronezh flags or change it to where im gonna be for the next year (here) and become a namefag like this
i dont post outside of this general anyway
oh and i forgot about the next periodic Russia update which im gonna cook in the next few days
>>
>>214751384
should we fully flag Krasnodar Krai to selsoviet level and then i'll make a map? Most selsoviets in the region already have flags, you would just add the remaining shape flags that i can generate automatically

I think it's a cool idea

>>214752203
>Krasnaya Polyana / Estosadok / Rosa Khutor do not have flags on their own
yeah they aren't even city districts. RIP

>should i keep my Voronezh flags or change it to where im gonna be for the next year (here)
the latter. you should always have the flags where you are now

>and become a namefag like this
that's up to you; i wouldn't, usually i put the name on only when i'm a tourist.

uhm i dont know, it is really up to you
but if you want i can look for what krasnodar krai selsoviets are missing

also check the gitlab issue page, ive made another periodic update
>>
>>214780120
>247 hours later
https://gitlab.com/flagtism/Extra-Flags-for-4chan/-/issues/1175
every single of these flags has to be in repository, if any of those is missing just drag it in

i had to manually draw on Google Earth the third level borders inside the city districts of Anapa, Gelendzhik, Goriachy Kliuch and Armavir. in fact those and other city districts (for example those in Novorossysk) should be most of the missing stuff

also i suspect they might have logos, so for example trying to google Cyпceхcкий ceльcкий oкpyг might give results

i think i will do Adygea too for geographical reasons, it's a small republic so it should be quick

i will soon release the geodata, for now in cyrillic but in the future i might release it transliterated. your issue update will be processed soon too :^)

:^)
i added Adygea selsoviets too because why not. i couldn't find an automatic way to remove the "skoye" so i left them there, you could fix them manually but it's not very important shape flags suck anyway
the unincorporated Mostovsky district "flag" needed to be added indeed because otherwise that territory would have been the only one in Krasnodar krai without a 3rd level flag. let's consider it a territory equivalent to a selsoviet (plus i want to go there, the mountains are spectacular)

2 regions done, 83 to go hehe
>>
>good news
hold on the unincorporated area *is* part of a national park, so i can add a symbol for it. OSM doesn't have it

it's a strict nature reserve..... do i have to sneak in from Abkhazia

luckily with mapshaper it's relatively easy to make them. with the command "-erase remove-slivers" you erase incorporated areas from the governorates layer, leaving you with a polygon (or multipolygon) for the unincorp. area of each governorate

all hail mapshaper

the 3rd level for Krasnodar territory and Adygea has been refined and doublechecked, so now it's possible to make maps with it. the rest is just a general overview that i quickly downloaded from OSM, mostly unusable but gives an idea

I hope. I will have a week-long break in either November or December, and I'm thinking of going home for a few days. If I can find good, cheap tickets, I wanna have a layover. I am thinking of Baku, but turns out Kuwait is well-connected with both Uzbekistan and Turkey.

now THIS is cool. Near Pozzomaggiore (province of Sassari) there are peridotite xenolithes, basically pieces of the upper mantle (35 km to 670 km deep) brought to the surface by a volcanic eruption. The green is olivine, one of my favourite minerals. As soon as i'll have good geology tools i'll 100% go there

for muttmericans, another similar outcrop is the San Carlos volcanic field in Arizona. looks like they're somewhat rare overall

definitely. It's what i immediatly find too with the correct search terms العديلية جمعية (<coop society> <area>, reading right to left)

another example: Wafra Farms (pic related), which are another area from Wafra Residential and the two have different logos. Not bad for a supermarket

also some areas are purely statistical, like the Al Sour Gardens. I will use shape flags for those lacking societies, like i will use the seal of Kuwait port authority for uninhabited port areas or of the Kuwait oil company or something for the oil field.

i know this is bait but i want to tell you flaggots a story. before my times the main mantainer of the repository was a nigger called Utrecht. Utrecht was the main supporter of the "official flags" faggotry*, at the time Goslar was cycling in Czechia and Slovakia so Utrecht took charge of making the flags there
in those countries almost all municipalities have flags, but a few don't. Goslar indeed went to a couple of those, and Utrecht refused to do anything about it. now there are nice holes in the map where nobody will ever go. he rather spent all of his time flagifying CoAs, which is not only pointless but straight up wrong. if anything those are the "fake" flags rather that placeholders; the nigger in the post above me is too retarded to understand but nobody ever pretended that placeholders are actual flags
i don't know what was going on in Utrecht's mind, but i think he didn't really understand what the general was actually about despite having been a very dedicated regular for several years. as a consequence he ended up leaving permanently, now he must be on social media or some latrine like that

tldr: the "official flags" faggotry is what killed /flag/

tldr2: kill yourself

>>
>>214971288
most of them are in the Netherlands and Belgium where he worked on the most.
there are still a few in Czechia and Slovakia for municipalities or places with CoA but not flag (in Slovakia you can recognize them for not being striped like all others). there were a few in Romania too before i redid the country

also remember those flags without gloss in Colombia? they were made before Utrecht's time. when he fully flagged Colombia, he added all the missing flags without fixing the previous ones! *facepalm*
