>Orsted, world's largest wind turbine producer excluding Chinese companies>spent $1B building offshore wind turbines off the coast of New Jersey>supposed to power 1,000,000 homes>85% complete, to be finished in 2026>Trump cancels ALL renewable energy production in the USA, solar/wind/etc>Orsted on the hook for all production costs>now it's seeking $9.4B in bailout money from DenmarkShould they give up Greenland for this bailout money from the USA?
>>214603820Sell the turbines to offshore private AI datacenters.
>>214603820I thought it was the Ozempic alike new pills joining the competition.
>>214603820Greenland is like 50 thousand people. The real question is: what resources does Denmark want out of Greenland? Are they using it to mine for rare earths to fuel this wind power program? Is there oil? Possibly enough oil to bail the EU out of their dependencies on Russia/Saudi Arabia without resorting to coal? Would the US use it better? Did the US sabotage Denmark to promote China? Mysteries.
>>214605430Trump doesn't like looking at windmills. There's no building them, public or private.
>>214603820wait why do they ask for 9 billion if they only lost 1?
>>214605540>Did the US sabotage Denmark to promote China? Mysteries.under trump, there's no way to tell, it's not out of the question
>>214605599>had to borrow $1B to build wind farm>wind farm cancelled>no money coming in>have to pay debts + interest>other wind farms struggle because you don't have incoming revenue to build those>whole thing collapse
>>214605540>Would the US use it better?Absolutely, I can think of no better play than for America to send in troops and secure Greenland by force. Honestly, it's the most brilliant idea Washington has had in recent memory. Please do it. Don't be a faggot and flake out, give me that generation-defining event, it would be so fucking sick.
>>214605636so? Free market. Declare bankruptcy and sell
>>214603820>leeching stolen money from the governmentthey get what they deserve , make a real business next time not one relying on printed 'money'
>>214605698uhhhhh
>>214605642The US being able to annex territory willy-nilly will throw the door open for a free for all across the whole earth. Russia and Crimea/Donbass, Israel with Gaza, Thailand with Battambang, Siem Rath, Pursat and Si Rat Malai, etc
>>214603820They were already doing so bad even before Trump comes in. Same for Vestas.>>214605430Gas Turbines are way better for power sources rather than windmills.
Surely there's a clause in the contract that the client has to pay compensation if they cancel the project? The client would be the state government company they set up, which would have the state government as a major owner and because they've been ordered to stop it by the fed government they'll want to sue the feds for the money they'll use to pay this Orsted company in damages. If that doesn't happen, I don't understand how the USA has a future as a first world country. Cancelling foreign contracts then not paying people for their work is Africa style shit, not only will it lead to foreign divestment it'll also lead to local investment leaving America.
Wind energy is the least efficient, highest-maintenance energy source
>>214606308>Cancelling foreign contracts then not paying people for their work is Africa style shitAre you unfamiliar with the type of shit that's been happening for the past 8 months?
>>214606217Russia is already trying to annex territory (and did so successfully in Crimea and Georgia), and China wants to do it to Taiwan. This whole meme of "but the US can't do it! Imagine what other people would do!" is cuckshit. The reality is there are those who can annex territories by force, and those who cannot. And the US is in the "can" category. What's the EU gonna do? Whine?
>>214606308>cancel contracts saying you'll pay>continue to force countries and their companies to invest into your country by threatening tariffs
>>214606217I know you're only saying that because you know that's what I want to hear. How deliciously sycophantic. <3
>>214606308>You cancel contracts with France all the timeYou cancelled a military one recently where you backtracked on buying their planes
>>214603820That's what you get for not giving us Greenland
>>214606652>planesYou mean the nuclear subs? That Australia won't even get the ownership of, and would have Americans on board? And that it won't be delivered for 20 years? And that have already gotten more expensive than what was stated in the contract?
>>214606370I guess this is the only way to make it work.>>214606652>>214606853How can both of you, combined, still be so stupid as to get almost every basic fact of the topic wrong? And even after that, my post wasn't saying cancelling contracts is impossible, but that you need to pay damages in the event you do cancel them.
>>214606308International law is only a thing if countries agree to follow it or if it is enforced using military force.
>>214608009It's like people forgot all about the invasion of Iraq and right now people getting nuked from orbit in international waters.Laws are fake and gay.
>>214608100>Laws are fakeLaws are real if they are being enforced consistently. Living in a society where laws are often not being enforced consistently is not fun. It's also bad for business and economic development.International law is oftentimes not being enforced because it's difficult to do so. So I think it's fair to say that international law is mostly fake.

>>214605655But governments support businesses all the time? This is t 1850 laissez faire
