Is there any country or group of people on the planet who are religious due to genuine curiosity in the universe and interest in mysticism?
Or is religion always politically motivated everywhere on earth?

In europe and the USA, christianity is deeply tied to the white european identity
In india, the hindutva movement is tied to india's concept of the nation
across every islamic country, muslims are used as pawns by the saudis who are basically the CEOs of islam

has their ever been a "pure" religious movement not directly and incontrovertibly tied to some political machination?

>Or is religion always politically motivated everywhere on earth?
bonhoeffer visited america and talked shit about the sermons here
>In New York they preach about virtually everything; only one thing is not addressed, or is addressed so rarely that I have as yet been unable to hear it, namely, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the cross, sin and forgiveness, death and life.

this is absolutely true, sermons in the USA are always super political.

Organized religion and therefore most major religions don't inspire curiosity, they inspire control and shared identity.
You could probably find what you mentioned in stone age level tribes like the cargo cults etc, but they'd have to be so behind everything that modern things would look like magic/divine.

i think its material and time. the religion of America is the reflection of that.

Any monastic movements? I don't think any monastery in random greek islands or deep in japanese mountains do any politicking.

Basiacally any esoteric sect.
Gnostics, kabbalists, hermeticists, certain forms of buddhism, etc.
A lot of them are retarted though.

>any country
All the Muslim ones.
>group of people
The Haredim, the Amish.
>>

All three of those religions you mentioned are highly political.
>>
>>214606491
They're not, not even in the slightest. Also OP is jeet. Yikes!

Islam is very political by nature.
Judaism is too.
And you don't know jack about the Amish.
>>
>>214606555
>Islam
Read Guenon.
>>214606555
>Judaism
Literally the most apolitical thing ever. They survived all that time because they weren't political.
>you don't know jack about the Amish
Perhaps.

>They survived all that time because they weren't political.
There's been like eight different political movements in the last century spearheaded by Jews.
Any esoteric tradition isn't going to be political but mainstream Islam by nature is very political. The fact sharia exists at all testifies is political nature.

>by Jews
By Orthodox Jews? Are you retarded?
>sharia
You're absolutely retarded, I bet you're the jeet OP. Divine law is a key feature of Abrahamism, and that's why Christianity failed when Judaism and Islam prevailed - it removed that key component so religion turned into politics.
