If you had to learn one, which one would you pick?
>>
Faroese
>>
Swedish is nice and good help around the other languages apart from danish no clue what those guys are doing but they sound genuinely like downs syndrome people
>>

Think Danish gets too much hate desu. Doesn't really have any unpleasant sounds. Just not the most enunciated language.
>>
>>214606501
They speak different languages?
I'd rather learn Scots or Frisian first.

Not really. It's like the difference between jamaican pidgeon and english. Spelling and grammar is near identical. Spoken it can become incomprehensible depending on how thick accents are

Finnish because it's the most phonetically consistent.
>b-but it's not germanic
I know and I don't care. I have no interest in any of that scandinavian trash in the OP.
>>
>>214606848
Would Swedish be the closest to "standard" North Germanic? I took 3 years of German in college and I can read the Nordic languages decently.
>>
>>214606501
None, I don't learn genocidal colonial languages
>>
>>214606895
Not really anything like a standard one. Norwegian, Faroese, and Icelandic come from Old West Norse, while Danish and Swedish come from Old East Norse. Danish and Swedish are more closely related than Norwegian and Swedish in that sense. The pronunciation just hides it.

Norwegian sounds like something that I should understand. Like English spoken with your hand over your mouth.
>>
>>214606895
Danes are the ones who controlled the most nordic cunts. Iceland, Norway, Greenland and the faroes all have danish proficancy. But then again, most of those cunts have populations consisting of what in normal countries would be considered a flyover town in terms of size.

Swedish is the one with the highest number of speakers and people with danish proficancy have no problems understanding it. It's us who have a hard time understanding spoken danish. I don't know what causes the discrepency.

Tldr: with danish you'll be able to understand everyone. With swedish, everyone will understand you

What does the Russian national football team look like in 2025?
>>
>>214606970
Yeah, Swedish spelling sticks out a bit. Norwegian is a bit simpler sometimes, like in how they spell the equivalent of the sj sound. It's fairly minor though.

>>214606999
Trickiest part besides vocabulary might be plural and definite.
>>
>>214606618
I don't think youve ever heard danish being spoken if that is your opinion
Or maybe you're from the skåne region
>>
>>214607142
Nope, not skåning. I just don't hate it. Smaken är som baken.
>>
>>214607157
Fair enuff, i just really feel instant disgust when i hear the danish throat sounds
>>
>>214606501
Icelandic so I can read the sagas in their original language.
I do actually want to do that but I don't want people to think I am one of those weird neopagan larper americans

There's a dialect of Danish called Gøtudanskt that's spoken on the Faroe Islands that's super clear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJCimiapQmM. Makes it sound really Swedish.
>>
>>214607256
Based. I knew they were always just speaking their language wrong.

Heard of the cowboy viking guy? Think he has an Old Norse course.

Used to study Norwegian for a year, somewhat 15 years ago. Still remember some grammar but the vocabulary is gone.
