The Amish are American and have a more distinct culture than any country in Europe, the US government is also older than virtually every government in Europe so it's history is more relevant than some historic fanfiction romance dreamed up in the Napoleonic era after he bent the whole of Europe over. At some point Europe needs to cope that Kaczynski was right and the technocratic apparatus that runs the world has become the center of gravity for all modern culture.
