So Suebians and Visigoths ended up in Iberia.They invaded and settled.They arrived here and essentially became bandit-lords. They settled apart from the native population, they didn't bother to learn the language, disarmed the natives, and went around pillaging-taxing what they wanted for what they wanted.What is it that they wanted. Petty warfare with each other. Across the centuries of germanic Iberia, more Germanic kings died to murder commited by their family members than any other cause of death.Consequently not much in the way of "ruling" is done. Imagine if you will that your country is not "ruled" by what sounds like armed and Pope approved Britons on vacation in Spain.They didn't do much in the way of writting either, so history becomes scarce, and other than the writings done by the Church, we don't have much else on them.Like true Germanic peoples, they inevitably turned to the nafris and araboids down south to basically do the jobs they don't want to do. In this case, one germanic ruler was having the typical "civil" war with his cousin or uncle and decided that inviting armies of muslims into Iberia to aid him would be a good idea. So now the muslim armies are in Europe, red carpet rolled out for them, and they won't leave for a couple of centuries.The first sign of mingling between Germanic and Iberian populations came at the end of the Muslim conquests, as both peoples were psuhed into the north and essentially forced to live together. It's only after this point that Germanics begin to assimilate. For an idea, the first King of Portugal was still named in the Germanic tradition: First name Afonso, last name Henriques to denote that he was son of Henrique. Only after that did we have kings with Iberian naming conventions.

The distinctions made were in status and language, any understanding of ethnicity disappeared. As the Franks intermarried with the Roman elite (which they did, despite initially having laws against miscegenation), they had romanized, and had germanized the Romans in return too. Those that previously were Romans were now "French" and gave themselves names of Germanic origin. At some point they faded into the population, and both groups changed and merged into one.

There was a bunch of Volos-like hill people and a big contingent of Sarmatian and other Indo-Iranic-speaking peoples in South Poland and in Panonia.
