Kobe beef is well known, however the following story isn't.

The first ever cow slaughter in Japan took place in 1856 at the Gyokusen-ji temple in Nagasaki, which was then the U.S. Consulate. U.S. Consul General Townsend Harris had a cow brought and slaughtered on the consulate grounds. He and his interpreter Hendrick Heusken roasted and ate the meat with wine, causing great shock in the local community. Hendrick Heusken was later killed by a ronin (masterless samurai) in an anti-foreigner backlash, avenging the cow's slaughter. This incident marked a significant cultural clash and the beginning of modern changes in Japan regarding meat consumption

The brave ronin who killed Hendrick Heusken (Henry Heusken) was likely named Imuta Shohei, a samurai from the Satsuma Domain involved in anti-foreigner activities. Another name associated with the attack is Masumitsu Shinpachiro, but Imuta Shohei is noted as having inflicted the fatal wounds on Heusken. These attackers were part of a group of Satsuma samurai resisting foreign influence in Japan during that period.
