Speaking as an intellectual pleb, how is infinite energy useful? What are we unable to achieve because we don't have enough solar panels and power plants? It's not like food is going to grow instantly or cancer disappearing because we shoot more electricity into it?

A lot of things have energy bottlenecks, anon. Recycling could get ridiculously cheap. Plus storing food, as in dehydrating it would dramatically cut wastes in food which is a significant factor in food prices.
