Do you remember your childhood in your country?
>>
I try not to.
>>
I remember being very cringe, like even for an autistic kid. I was the kind of kid who thought he was cool for knowing how to write in cursive but also knowing Elizabeth II's line of descent from William the Conqueror.
Maybe that's why my mother ACK'd herself, cuz she couldn't stand having an autistic son.

No, that's okay. It's okay to have special interests.

You mean the best part probably of anyone's life? yes
>>
>>214673535
No. And I question how useful memory is sometimes. I had a friend tell me that when he was a kid he remembered an air dryer in a relative's house, when they never had one at all. When I was young I remember some really large banded worm in my dad's car grille. Never happened. If you ask an old person about the past it's like 50/50 they can recall anything useful, or worse try to frame the past by what they understand in the present thus rendering any context they can provide useless. Talking to people about 4chan culture gets varied results even if they both observed the same events, most people on /pol/ will flat out deny this website ever used to be left leaning even though moot was literally kicked off the site for being an 'sjw' in fact even 'sjw' itself was replaced by 'woke' 'dei' 'tranny' when none of these things existed in any meaningful way until late into the first Trump campaign. I remember back when people liked anime explicitly because western media wasn't gay enough for them and was too prude.

I don't remember much from my own. I consider 17-19 to be the peak instead which is when I moved town and was happier in the new one.
>>214673747
Is the Hollywood thing of characters remembering their childhood vividly just a trope then?
>>
>>214673793
No I think there's people who can remember things vividly. I don't think there's a way to separate memory from current bias, nor is there a way for children to have very concrete memory of anything. Perhaps the problem is identity, if someone lacked a sense of self then memory wouldn't warp around their identity. 'I was so cringe back then' 'How did anyone buy into this stupid trend?' and similar types of sentiment makes people feel like most of their time was wasted dabbling in trends. Humiliation ritual is a tired meme, but to some degree it holds true, people actively try to blot out humiliation from their memory or at least reshape the context. In essence whatever society says in the present will reflect in the past and there's no way to materially prove it apart from data, which isn't stimulating enough for the average person.

I fucking hate the fact that the term "woke" is used by conservative rednecks to designate both stuff that relies a lot on snarky humor/shock humor like but also to call stuff that doesn't conform to their normalfaggy sexual tastes.
I feel like the problem with the alt-right is that it doesn't actually have any revolutionary feel to it. It's just full of conformists who want everything to be exactly like it was 15 years ago but not either before or after that. Back when I was in my teenager, I was a fedora-tipping atheist who thought Republicans were absolutely retarded for sending hundreds of thousands of young men to die off to the Middle East in the name of Shell and BP, and I still think they're dumb.
The only difference is that now I feel like Democrats also got that retarded prudishness and political correctness I used to associate exclusively with Republicans. As far as I'm concerned, they're both just a bunch of retarded prudes who care more about preserving the right of companies to sell food with tons of artificial coloring and flavorings, giving more money to Israel so they can keep spreading their empire of blood with land claims based on retarded Bronze Age fairy tales, and keeping keyed futa loli porn away from America.
Fuck both sides.

Sadly yes

You have no idea how much the 'left' changed in a short period of time between 2012 and 2016. Because most of 'leftism' was associated with alt-culture like 4chan.

Check this article out.'
>For instance, you take the word “Nigger.” There is absolutely nothing wrong with the word “Nigger” in and of itself. It’s the racist asshole who’s using it that you ought to be concerned about. We don’t mind when Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy say it. Why? Because we know they’re not racist. They’re Niggers…
This is a leftist comedian in the 90s doing a set. I can also find videos of fairly recent content creators on Youtube, like Keemstar, saying nigger and it wasn't offensive until Youtube went corporate. Should give you an idea of how shallow the memoryhole is.

The thing is that most of the people who browse 4chan today didn't know old 4chan. Myself I came here in late 2015. The "pool's closed" 4chan is old history to me. All I've ever seen were chuds here.
>>
>>214673535
there's not much to remember
>>
in retrospect I think I ended up living in my head for the most part, I had a more vivid imagination back then and things didn't look so soulless back then, now I don't really lose myself in made-up scenarios and the world around me looks more stable and less mystic/shady
>>
>>214677285
Were you that different before smartphones? Didn't spend time with the screen regardless?
>>214677649
I honestly think they just returned to lurking. Neither the perpetually outraged chud culture or modern liberal culture appeals to the reserved and autistic.
