Reinventing my Spanish is the most awkward thing in existence almost feels harder than learning something totally new.

I knew and only spoke Spanish when I was like 8yrs and younger but totally forgot it. I was so ashamed my spanish was mid compared to other people I black marked it from my vocabulary and language for yearss. I wanted to learn French but I feel like I owe it to my ancestors to learn Spanish first as I already have full coherent understanding of it. I'm lowkey rewiring my brain and enjoying it

Thinking of picking up another accent other than my island although women adore it. Ordered many books written in Spanish and have a journal solely dedicated for Spanish.

How do you guys do to even understand German Grammar ?
Supposed to memorize words first : yes
But then… you also need to be able to read, write, speak. How do you do this all by urself ?
>>
>>214789314
I don't concern myself with the grammar. I don't even think about grammar anymore because my main goal is comprehension, and usually vocabulary is the deciding factor of whether or not I will understand a sentence.
If my comprehension someday becomes so good that I can just effortlessly consume content, then I'll just keep doing that for a few years and hopefully the grammar will just become intuitive. If not, then maybe I'll pay someone to correct my mistakes but that's a problem for future me to deal with.

Spanish.

Constantly changing my dabble tier language. I honestly find it hard to get super pumped about Spanish even tho it seems pretty useful. Other languages that draw me in more are just way harder and more of a time sink. Like I'd like to learn Russian but it's intimidating and I feel I wouldn't succeed with it as a dabbler. </blogpost>

>>214789690
Okay, so you learned by yourself I assume.
Because when you learn a language, you kind of need to know its structure and everything else and I’m so lost and confused. I’m just memorizing words for now. I want to be at a b1/b2 level. No textbooks yet because some have good and bad reviens so idk which one to buy etc

Why can't you? It's SVO.
>>
>>214777841
>German is in the same branch of Germanic as English and has considerably different syntax, though.
The split between north and west Germanic languages is not really a big deal. Old English and Old Norse were still mutually intelligible 1000 years ago even though supposedly Old English and Old German had already diverged by that point.
>>
>>214783783
English does this
>>
>>214793011
Spanish and German are SVO as well and you can't do it with those
try taking a sentence of actual Chinese and translating it directly into English and see what the result is

Good morning (night) Anons, i wanted to steal the Brazilianon's idea >>214657741 to have native English speakers give me their opinion on my accent. It's difficult to hear what you're saying. Besides the noise, it sounds very echoey and like you're speaking from far away.

As far as I can tell, your pronunciation of most words and sounds is pretty good. There's an exotic flavor to your voice, but it's hard to pin down exact causes. I'll give a few examples where your vowels sounded like they might deviate from a standard American pronunciation (although I might just have a hard time hearing due to the bad audio quality).

"unfortunately" (~0:05) - This almost sounds like a Scottish or Irish pronunciation, "unfartunately."

"never" (~0:08) - This sounded strange to my ears. Maybe like you're saying "navver."

"plants" (~0:20) - This sounded like you might have said something like "plahnts," although your "a" sound in the word "Latin" sounded normal.

My overall appraisal is that whatever accent you have is very subtle. If you could post a better quality recording, I could feel more certain about that judgment.

Part of the "low T" aspect to your voice comes down to intonation. Read about the "uptalk" phenomenon, if you're not already familiar with it. You're staying in an elevated tone (pitch), which makes you come across as unconfident. Or like you're afraid that you need to keep your voiced raised to keep our attention, and that if you drop your voice you'll lose our attention. This mode of speech sounds effeminate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_rising_terminal

Also, don't say "anywho." You probably know this, but it's not a real word. It's a cutesy mutation of "anyhow." Using it sounds effeminate.

>>214795211
>>214794894
I would say "fuh-BAY-see-ay" or possibly "fuh-BAY-see-ee." I think pronouncing "ae" "ee" would be more traditional and proper.

Also keep in mind that in certain places, "ae" can become a weak vowel. For example, Aegean.
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/aegean

Contrast with "aegis" (EE-jiss).
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/aegis
>>
>>214796512
Yeah it's echoey because there's nothing in the room other than a table and a chair and no furniture in the living room connected to it (long story). But damn this is a very in-depth analysis, thank you Americanon. I never knew about HRT and i think i got it from my dialect of Arabic where it's basically ubiquitous so I've never noticed it and i seem to have carried it over to English.

>Also, don't say "anywho." You probably know this, but it's not a real word. It's a cutesy mutation of "anyhow." Using it sounds effeminate.
Probably comes from how many female political/cultural commentators i used to watch (mostly Shoeonhead and Misha Petrov) to learn what females thought on that kind of stuff or why they're always in the front lines fighting tooth and nail to destroy the West.

>If you could post a better quality recording, I could feel more certain about that judgment.
Sorry i only have my phone's microphone and there's no fixing my room's echoing or the constant background noise. It's the best i can do desu
>>
>>214797806

you can learn sanskrit if you want; but most people that speak a euro language can identify a latin or greek word from a second glance, even if they don't speak a lick of the language. you're not going to be getting any sales for your commercialized prophetic scriptures with those funny squiggles that nobody outside of people that actually know the language can decipher.
also, pure? you're from the netherlands, a christian land.
