They aren't going every week to golf courses, but they have interest in golf and will go when they can and this is a stop gap.In the same way that if I had a building with skiing practice machines, I'd assume the people there were practicing for when they actually go skiing. My (admittedly lacking) knowledge of japan is 'everything is either a mountain or a heavily urbanized city where having a medium sized garden is a sign of obscene wealth' so I imagine golf courses are relatively rare and not everyone lives near one.
