That's part of the reason; it wasn't already known for anything in particular like California or Texas, which made it easy for zoomers to project their memes onto it. Also it's kind of poor I guess.

that’s precisely the point, it’s probably the most average, boring state there is. which is why it’s funny to say that only in ohio do you have aliens riding around on dinosaurs eating people or whatever
