isn't it kind of funny how if you asked the average american to tell you about ancient greece, ancient egypt or ancient mesopotamia they would be able to recite 15,000 random facts they learned on middle school social studies class, but if you asked them to tell you about modern day greece, egypt or iraq they would have nothing to say? really highlights the fact that our education system needs to get its priorities straight.
>>
If you went to Greece 200 years ago not a single Greek would be able to tell you who Aristotle was, they only started LARPing once they realized rich educated Westies would reward them for doing it.
>>
why? all of those countries were more relevant on the past, why would they care about them now?

>middle school social studies class
Middle school world history focuses on ancient history
Why would it teach about the modern middle east o algo

You’re trying to seem intelligent and only exposing yourself as a moron.
What’s the point in teaching children about modern day politics and current events that are constantly shifting and changing? By the time their class is finished half their knowledge will be outdated, and half of it will have loose ends that were never resolved because the world’s political events aren’t structured around the school year. Geopolitical studies is a highly specified field for a reason.
Students are taught about the past because the issue of the past have been resolved. It’s possible to take a high level view of events that happened 2,000 years ago and point out key moments along a timeline when you already know what the eventual outcome is.

nothing relevant has come from these places in thousands of years though

Their histories are infinitely better than the shitholes they are currently.
