do children and parents have a weirdly distant relationship in your country? I noticed that compared to my extended family in italy, there's a disconnect in northern countries. parents give their children so many rules and tasks and don't give a lot of warmth. that disconnect becomes a lot worse when kids turn 18-19. some parents demand rent from their children, lol. those who move out at 19 will barely contact their parents, and kind of just forget about them over time. Sometimes when I see families eating in a restaurant, it feels more like a business meeting than a happy family reunion.
