So this cunt just fucking presented himself as an expert, told me the ice caps were gonna melt, New York was gonna be underwater and all the snow would disappear off Mount Fuji by like 2020. Then fucking bails like it's nothing after being wrong and never apologizing.I remember being 13 years old and having to watch this and getting sorta black-pilled and pessimistic about the future. Then I found out they did the same fucking shit in the 1970s and made out "global cooling" was gonna destroy the world in the next twenty years o algo. Yet if I dare suggest that climate change people are playing chicken little and bullshitting, suddenly I'm the science denier? I brought up this point with someone else and he was like "Well Al Gore isn't an expert, he was just commenting on an issue he cared about.". THEN WHY WAS I TAUGHT HIM AT SCHOOL? Why did I have to spend an assignment making climate change proposals to stop the end of the world?
Ao this guy bombs civilian towers with his pedo friends from SA and tells everyone there are bio weapons in itak and the invades afghanistan and then just bails and goes into retirement like nothing happened... I think americans are just full of shit in general
>>215347525The point of climate change propaganda is to shift the attention of environmentalists away from the poisoning of entire ecosystems / water supplies we all rely upon by transnational megacorporations who can't be asked to dispose of toxic waste responsibly (esp. in the third world) and towards a looming existential promise of environmental disaster that we're all as individuals equally culpable for as a result of our daily habits. Environmentalism is no longer about preserving specific at-risk ecosystems, it's about "saving the world" from global warming which really means "raising awareness" and doing not much else. It's actually kind of brilliant.
The oil companies that pushed all the misinformation you morons are spewing have moved on from global warming denial and are investing their billions in alternative energy sources. You've been left behind.
wait until you hear about this book and who commissioned it
>>215347630>The point of climate change propaganda is to shift the attention of environmentalists away from the poisoning of entire ecosystems / water supplies we all rely upon by transnational megacorporations who can't be asked to dispose of toxic waste responsiblyThey used to do the same fearmongering with acid rain and river pollution. They did a massive commission study into water pollution in the Great Lakes region in the late 1970s. The fish in the rivers were dying off and people were getting worried about pollution, and it seemed like a slam dunk thing for passing environmental regulations. The scientists involved actually found (hilariously) that the acidity increasing was the rivers returning to their natural baseline. They became less acidic in the 19th century due to slash and burn farming. The fish that were dying off in the rivers were recently settled and weren't even supposed to be there. This infuriated the EPA and the government, as they were prepared to pass a slew of environmental regulations based on the results. They were so seething that they actually tried to sabotage and destroy the careers of the scientists involved in the commission. I honestly think the shift towards global warming after that was because it's less falsifiable. The IPCC gets to act as a sort of cartel and outside of climate change stuff, governments don't do the same sort of environmental commissions like that anymore.
An inconvenient anime
>>215347525yeah I remember the Manhattan will be underwater shit.I believe that pollution is real, but I'm not convinced about CO2 pollution.
>>215347525>brought up this point with someone else and he was like "Well Al Gore isn't an expert, he was just commenting on an issue he cared about.".The point is he's not a climate scientist he's just a random politician. And politicians and media personalities make sensationalist claims, that doesn't mean climate change isn't realthe increase is real but it's obviously not as dramatic as a city being underwater just takes the form of increased flooding But this thread is likely bad faith, and meant to disinform
I get where you wouldn't want to hang on to every word of every libtard ~grifter~ but there's like, fires and stuff isn't there?
>>215347905Well what's the right amount to care right now? And how would you have answered that when Al was doing the rounds
>>215347810Miss when it was just him and some friends fucking around
>>215347764>there could be infinite growth on a limited rock flying in the void
>>215347905> And politicians and media personalities make sensationalist claims, that doesn't mean climate change isn't realYou'd have a point if he wasn't on the school curriculum. You don't get to have it both ways, global-warmingmaxxers can't motte these figures forward as education material, and then retreat to the bailey of "well he's just a media personality" when they're laughably wrong. If someone spoke up about how he's exaggerating and being hyperbolic back then, you'd be laughed at as a science denier or being funded by the oil companies or whatever. It's also unfair to children to doomer them in this way. Climate change doomerism does cause negative psychological effects in many people, it's well documented. So if you're doing the doomerism while also being laughably wrong, you're causing harm.
The problem with climate change and so many other scientific subjects is that it gets mixed with left-wing politics and capitalist grift. Meaning the left uses it to promote degrowth and basically agrarian communism and the capitalist class just makes a whole industry in promoting this, the truth and the nuance is lost in the middle of all this grift.
>>215347984Well that's the point sensationalizers isnt the same as real science. You can go back and read what mainstream scientists, not media personalities, were saying A politician isn't an expert on anything. He probably didn't even write the book himself. Most politicians have these kind of slop pop books ghost written >If someone spoke up about how he's exaggerating and being hyperbolic back then, you'd be laughed at as a science denier or being funded by the oil companies or whatever. That's true, but it kind of cuts both ways. I bet oil companies actually like there being some sensationalist doomer figures like Al Gore out there, perfect opportunity to muddy the water. Someone who is not discerning is more bound to dismiss it all as bunk when they see these extreme and wrong claims being made, instead of making a careful distinction
