I feel like there is a great deal of "unspoken" history about the Arab conquest of the Middle East/Africa

history books just gloss over it like it's totally normal that centuries-long world's most advanced civilizations adopt a foreign religion and language with no sign of resistance, completely erasing and forgetting about their earlier cultural heritage

Egypt was the global centre of science, philosophy and most importantly - Christianity - around the time the Arabs came. 50 years passed and suddenly Egypt is completely arabized and islamized as if Christianity was never anything more than a small marginalized sect followed by the poorest part of the population. Not even Europeans conquering the Americas, where the civilizational gap was much greater in favor of Europeans, managed to impose their culture so fast and to such degree like the Arabs could. Yet we don't even know the details of this assimilation process going on under Arab rule, almost as if it was the most normal thing to happen. Weird.

This is wrong thoughbeit, Egypt was majority Christian for centuries afterwards. Islamists downplay that aspect, same with Iberia.

nigga what the fuck are you talking about? it took until the 1200s and 1300s for Islam to become the majority in Egypt, and Christians continued to thrive for centuries and still exist in Egypt and the Levant, where they were often rich merchants or administrators. They still had influential nobility for a long time

Egypt was majority Christian and Coptic speaking until Black Death it were Mamluks who really introduced forced assimilation policy

Read more about it and it'll become less mysterious. Egyptian Christians, for a start, were already at odds with Byzantines over religious differences and some were persecuted or even executed over christological disagreements. Sassanids had a caste system and Muslims offered better social mobility for those at the bottom. Plus, Persian culture massively influenced Islamic, Arabic and later Turkish culture, it wasn't just erased and forgotted just like Roman culture wasn't erased by Christianity. Byzantines and Sassanids were two empire with lots of stability problems that then decided to try wipe each other out. Arabic conquest really isn't much of a surprise.

Alternatively, take a look at Dalmatia. Byzantines literally signed it off to Croats for nothing, no war. They just went "fuck it, let them have it", de facto at first, de jure later. Byzantines were generally shit at empire management and their ability to influence anything outside of Constantinople just declined and declined.

must have been something small and insignificant if memory about it was preserved only in some sparse arab sources and it wasn't even noted in Europe, and most importantly - that it failed despite Egypt being seemingly very rich, advanced and populous comparing to Arab invaders.

Neither is Hinduism to India, your point? Every religion was founded at some point in time.
