The US doesn’t even build commieblocks. The government gives money to private companies to essentially slap “affordable living” onto places with 1200/month rent. The only places where rent isn’t expensive are historic row houses in cities like Philadelphia, St Louis, and Detroit where it’s a serious issue that landlords will burn down your house for insurance purposes and to build an Amazon warehouse there.

I live on the East coast so no, not even close. You're painting an even more depressing picture of yourself, though. This is the main thing that keeps me here. There are three different national parks and forests within a 30 minute drive in any direction from my house. It's an absurd amount of wilderness, close to 1 million acres if you combine them.
