I've only heard Appenzeller here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AcWX_-ez1U
>>215399868Appenzeller is God tierI have never tasted Comté so I can't compare them
I like Abbaye de Timadeuc made by your monks
comte, beaufort, abondance and gruyere are the exact same cheese; dont let any clown tell you otherwise. the silliness of french/frenchoid marketing conventions in the AOP/IGP sphere knows few bounds indeed. in e.g. bulgaria all kinds of different yellow cheeses are called kashkaval and the white ones sirene, while in france, the same cheese has a billion different regional names because their agroindustry figured out that product differentiation increases power over price
>>215400682Let me guess, red wines from Médoc and red wines from Bourgogne are the same ?
Im not a wine person so I dont have strong views on that. but I know my cheese, and I can tell you that a focus on terroir is really misplaced here. maybe the unique vegetation in an atypical environment like pag island can have some effect on the dairy outcomes, but there are no such major differences between cheeses produced on an industrial level in franche-comte and the romandie, no way
