I always told myself that if I ever have kids I'm not going to give them a smart phone until they're like 14. But modern society doesn't make that easy. A phone is needed for a lot of things these days and if you don't use one you're basically not fit to live in the modern world. Access needs to be restricted wherever possible, like managing their screentime or blocking weird sites and Youtube videos, but if a kid is old enough to go to school they need to have a phone. The hard part is not letting them consume avsokutely retarded content on Instagram TikTok and Twitter since you just know your kids would get peer pressured into using those. At least you can stop them from becoming gamers, you can always just tell them you're too poor to get a gaming PC (which you are)
