It's very mixed, goes from hatred, ethnic replacement fears, accussations of crime, some teen groups actually physically assaulting them or ordering food delivery and then robbing them to stances like "poor people just want to earn some money", "they're better than local workers who complain all the time", "Germans say the same for us when we go work in Germany", etc. If the goverment actually enforced some health checks like ensuring a proper vaccination status, checking that they can actually drive before letting them work as taxi drivers and banning practices like renting out a single house to 40 Nepalis, people would complain less. I don't hate them, but they speak zero Croatian and barely struggle with English, I can't do my job with Google Translate and no assimilation policies of any kind exist in this country. People who have them as coworkers usually get used to them quickly, though, depending on the profession.

And it's mainly Indians and Nepalis people complain about. Filipinos assimilate better and are more decent, plus, a lot of them are female workers and they're picking up Croatian fast. There's also some Arabs that seem to get a lot of hate just for the Muslim factor even though they seem more resourceful and intelligent than Indians and Nepalis.

This is a really important point and people don't bring it up at all when talking about immigration. You can easily misunderstand eachother because Google translate is not good enough and god forbid it can have consequences on the person's health. Also imagine a coworker you can barely communicate with in a setting full of deadly machinery. It's a recipe for disaster. It's not the immigration that's the problem, or even the ammount of people coming in. It's that they're not being held up to a very high standard which as a result makes life more difficult to both the natives and the immigrants. If they were required to show some set ammount of skills and language ability there would be less immigrants as a result and the immigrants you recieved would actually function well in society too
