People farm it by cutting the whole cactus off by the roots and waiting for small buttons to regrow, cause those will have more mescalin as a defense mechanism against predators. Then you dry those buttons for later and just chew on them/soak them in room temp water.With San Pedro most of the stuff collects in the outer part that touches the cactus "skin". You wanna peel it off carefully so you don't cut any of the "meat" inside. I've read that some people just get the whole thing, skin + thorns, and put it in a blender. Then you have a liquid extract that's ready to go. Don't drink too much too fast though cause it's so bitter you'll get nausea.
