I left my job a few weeks ago and have just been doing food delivery about on my down time. It comes out to about $25 an hour after tips and a lot of the people I'm delivering to obviously make less than that. I was a middle manager at my last job so knew how much all the staff were making and a lot of the entry level zoomer staff who made minimum wage were still paying fucking $30 per day to get fucking McDonalds and Starbucks delivered. A lot of them didn't know how to drive or own a car because "it's a waste of money" but would also take Uber everywhere. I've not even had to dip into savings yet because just catering to the lazy wasteful retards pays enough to keep the basics covered.

I had to get a major servicing done on my car this week and switched from driving myself to taking Uber (I live in the mountains with no public transit up in the high altitude suburban areas) and I went from spending about $7 in gasoline per day, taking Uber averaged out to $35 each way to and from work and family or about $70 daily. If I factor in my insurance costs and what my average auto maintenance costs are on a day to day basis; it costs me roughly $14 daily to own and run my car. Back when I still had to make car payments it cost me roughly $15 daily to own and run, plus $12 towards the car payment or $27. Still cheaper than using uber eats or taking uber every where. Also our public transit here is garbage so taking public transit plus walking still costs me about $9 per day. This was calculated on numbers for a basic Hyundai but I got almost identical fuel and operating costs on a Mercedes Benz C-Class.
