With how effective and easy the nature method books are I’m shocked there aren’t more languages covered by them.I did see someone basically made a nature method book for Spanish though. But its worked so well for me to have a chapter with a discrete narrative and discrete set of grammar rules that I can just reread over and over until I master it that I wish it existed for languages like Japanese. I asked Alexander Arguelles about that once and he just told me to use linguaphone, but I can only find the main coursebook and not the supplementary texts, and the whole book is written in romaji instead of Kana which he usually advises against using, so im at a loss here.

>>215759077If you can't tell it's working, it's probably not. A lot of people seem to think that inpoot is just passively watching some content and hoping something magically sticks. It's a very active process and after every sentence you're basically asking yourself if you understand and using that as a gauge of how well you're doing. Maybe you need to slow down, pause and reflect on each sentence. Maybe you need to do more lookups. Maybe it's just too difficult for you now and you should seek something with easier sentences. You need to have a specific goal post in your head so that you can aim for it and hit it every single time, but for some people it doesn't seem to ever click on what they're supposed to be doing.
You need to have the HEART and COMMITMENT to the game. You need to be the Tony G of languages.

I tried the thing with english sentences on the front of the card and native sentences on the back of the card yesterday. I'm a full convert, should've tried it earlier. Forces you to internalize grammar and syntax quickly. Also forces you to clearly differentiate similar sounding words. Way way more efficient use of time than TL on the front

I'm 3 weeks in to Mandarin and loving it so far. However, I worry if learning Pinyin is a waste of time even if it makes the early stages easier. There is literally no reason to learn another language as an EFLI've even dabbled with French, Spanish, German, but it's all SO pointless. English has attained such global dominance that it's far more worthwhile spending my time reading and listening to low level ESL to understand the difference in how their native language expresses things, the grammar, the accents, so in the future I can pinpoint that type and location of ESL to understand the meaning quicker. After so much time online I can meet someone who just knows some English words or phrases pretty much halfway no matter what their native language is.

My interest in Korean stuff can branch out into many areas, but having the strong foundation of Kpop and idols, thats everything. I use idols to motivate me to run and work out. Leaving aside how stupid it would be to actually do this, could you theoretically learn to read and write Chinese while not being able to speak it at all? Since the characters are logographic and don't have anything to do with how they're spoken?
