Perhaps they don’t tell them as much as they used to, or perhaps the Germans I know just don’t. Some of the Polish jokes I heard as a kid in Massachusetts I have also heard recast in the upper Midwest as Norwegian jokes, where it was evidently once common for people descended from Swedes to laugh at rustic idiot stereotypes they assigned to their Norwegian-extracted neighbors.
