>Silent letters? Multiple pronunciations of the same written word? Why do you do that in English, we DON'T do that in MY irrelevant language>NO this is DEFINITELY NOT just cope for me being too low IQ to learn the nuances of the world's single most advanced language
>>215956643by this logic the perfect writing system is Chinese
>>215956643>t. has never studied history The reason why English is such a mess in terms of pronunciation is that throughout it's history English has decided to take influences from completely incompatible languages. English is a language based on the Germanic languages, but has over the years taken influence from Latin, French, and other languages which are completely different in terms of pronunciation and grammar. Also calling it a "advanced language" despite it being one of the easiest languages to learn is pretty stupid.
>>215958863All this tells me is English has ascended and advanced beyond the primitive bounds of other languages.
>>215958863>decidednigga the cutoff for the start of Middle English is exactly 1066. Why do you think that is, and what "decision" was made?

>>215958863>unironically engaging in a conversation with an EFL ape about languages
>>215958863It's the easiest language to learn because of Hollywood, not because other languages are just sooo complex
>>215958917That only applies to French, I was trying to speak more broadly.
>>215958996Oh look, it used articles in its sentence. Congratulations.
>>215956643We actually do both of those things all the time
>>215959042Cheerfully withdrawn. The rest of what you said is true. IDK why they were like this.

>>215959356>something something Indo-European>something something all euro languages mix a bit

>>215959020>tp>tfThe hardest part of english is the spelling of meme words, appart from that its easy as fuck compared to 99% of other languages.
>>215956643reminder: you are using the Latin alphabet to post on the internet in the current yearit wasn't originally intended for your cough rough dough through plough thorough nonsense
>>215959480Maybe if you include sub saharan africa and the native American nations.Tons of EFLs learn Arabic and Japanese. The availability of resources and opportunities to converse are what make the difference.
>>215959491>wasn't originally intendedIsn't that how the Latin script developed out of Greek and Etruscan in the first place?
>>215959650boyzeeeeeeee
>>215959020English really us just very simple. >no noun declension>no article declension>no gender even>barely any congjugation
>>215959731Further than that.
>>215959650Mire usted señor, comparado con las lenguas romance y cosas como el finlandés, el griego o el polaco, el inglés es cosa de niños. Gramaticalmente no tiene mucha complejidad, lo cual es su principal ventaja en cuanto a su aprendizaje. El japonés gramaticalmente es también muy fácil, su principal dificultad es el autismo que son los Kanjis. El americANO señores.
>>215960647No jablo ethpañol.
>>215958863> Also calling it a "advanced language" despite it being one of the easiest languages to learn is pretty stupid.Fucks your problem then?
>>215958863>English has decided to take influences fromthe english were ruled by the normans for like a hundred years; it wasn't a decision.
>>215959411A language is more than its vocabulary. A Romanian should know that.
>>215956643>the world's single most advanced languageFactually, provably wrong
>>215963204What then, something with fewer words? Something with more restrictive grammar?English is the perfect balance of hippie and autism.
>>215963427>something with fewer words? Something with more restrictive grammar?More rules ≠ more restrictive grammar. Take Slavic languages for example, they have significantly more freedom in the syntax of a sentence, yet they also have more rules. Why is that? It's because rules are created after the language already exists to attempt to logically explain how it works. Therefore rules aren't a restriction, they are a result of the language's natural complexity. Though arguably there are exceptions to this.
