I come from a Levantine bloodline.

Shudra pastoralists for thousands of years until great grandpa fled his farm and settled in shithole town

My father was a not-particularly-proud son of Germanic Switzerland, of fine pastoralist Appenzeller stock on one side and Basler on the other; my mother is an Appalachian descended from Swiss Germans on one side and the usual poor white Southern Anglo-probably-slightly-Irish miscellany on the other. Neither she nor I feel any close ties to her birthplace.

I was born in New England and raised mostly in a small series of American college towns in the Northeast and Midwest. I also spent some of every year with my father’s people in Switzerland as I was growing up, and I lived there on my own for a little over six years as an adult. I love both but feel more at home in the USA.
