Anglophilia is dead due to leftists using Ingerlund as a target for their slander.

UK is still well liked but obviously their soft power has waned big time--there was Harry Potter, One Direction, Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes.....what even is there to Britaboo about in 2025?

There are unironically USian youngsters who are into UK drill and they review it on YouTube
>>

For me, it was Top Gear and old sitcoms like Blackadder.

The best thing about the UK is the landscape and the network of paths and roads that connect it all. I love watching Geowizard’s videos where he traverses Britain and often wish I could do the same. I’m not even talking about the videos where he’s clearly trespassing on private land, but the ones where he walks on public footpaths through the English countryside simply to see where the path takes him. You can’t do that in the US, at some point you’ll need to walk on the side of the road, or at best some flat neglected path through mosquito infested woods with no view of anything. I plan on going to the UK in the near future to do the Hadrian’s Wall hike or something similar. I really want to experience this for myself, it seems so idyllic.

My opinion on Pottermania some years ago is that it's a socially acceptable way to indulge in Anglophilia. Same draw with Doctor Who fans, speaking as someone who was one back in middle school, a handsome guy pretending to be an alien who travels time and space in a giant police call box isn't that great of a premise for the disproportionate fanbase
>>
>>215978107
You’re definitely right about Harry Potter and Anglophilia. Half the appeal is just about the idea of going to a historic British boarding school. Putting Hogwarts and the modern day wizard idea in any setting other than the UK just doesn’t work.

What caused the decline of British media soft power? How did they allow themselves to be overtaken by Japan and even Worst Korea in terms of global pop culture imprint? Hell, I can't even think of any major British musicians anymore.
>>
>>215978403
>Hell, I can't even think of any major British musicians anymore.
Ed Sheeran, but he’s so profoundly generic that him being British has virtually nothing to do with his success as an artist.
I don’t really think there’s any good explanation to it, the UK just stopped producing good media. They had an incredible run for a few decades but it couldn’t last forever. The only reason the US is able to cling to relevance as a media powerhouse is because we control such a huge slice of those industries. America is Hollywood. We’re basically too big to fail, whereas other countries have to rely purely on the quality of their media to break out onto the global stage. If the success of media was purely merit based the US would be as irrelevant as the UK is now, our shit sucks (but we have the money and power to force it into relevancy).
>>
>>215978734
Thanks to language and cultural ties, British media had a natural conduit to a much larger market which in turn dominated the global entertainment industry. That helped for a long time but something happened where even American nerds like in OP stopped caring about the UK. Arguably this ties into a larger breakdown of any kind of British identity.

These dweebs only existed very briefly during the late David Tennant Matt Smith era of Doctor Who and Sherlock. Also Doctor Who sucks

Cool Britainnia of the 90s, and the Britlove of the Tumblr era, only could work as Britain was a white nation with an actual identity.

The romanticism is gone now that London is a third world shithole. The same thing is happening with Nipponphilia and and weebshit in Japan now they're losing their homogenous society.

In Canada at least boomers are still very fond of the UK. Millennials still have some of this residual tumblr era Anglophilia left. Anyone younger than that is brown and thinks the UK is a nazi state that killed 6 billion indigenous people o algo

Most Africans that were in the former British colonies are britboos to a surprising degree. The English speaking Cameroonians and Somaliland types go even farther. Only the Black diaspora living in the Western Anglosphere become virulently anglo-phobic, to a certain degree even the Caribbeans are less anti-British.

I went to the Universal Studios in Florida a few years back and I swear half the people in the Harry Potter world part were East Asians. They still love the UK and Harry Potter because they are always a decade or two behind on things like that.

It started earlier in the 1960s/1970s with British music gaining worldwide renown, lots of American boomers were Britaboos.
It hit peak in the early 2010s when Doctor Who, Sherlock, Harry Potter fandom culture was at its highest.
Bizarre how it all just evaporated in a decade.
Brexit and JK fucked it up.

Please designate a portion of Paris to look exactly as it did in the Belle Epoch, ladies in corsets with big fancy hats, everyone eating fresh baguettes and exotic teas, art nouveau everywhere, ratatouille music blaring on speakers, mimes, girls with amelie haircut running around maybe, everyone's still white...
I can't stand the thought innocent nips being soul crushed from Paris syndrome...
