If you selected for general IQ (whatever this is supposed to be) you'd still be down trade specialists and construction workers. People who speedrun video games are high IQ, but still functionally useless, if you're not addressing a specific task then IQ doesn't mean anything. Perhaps the best thing humanity could do as a general rule is select for low time preference, but even then you may end up with a Laputa scenario where everything is contingency and nothing gets done.
