What goes on here?
>flagthe fuck goes on there?
None of your business
>>216008337I worked at a resort there for 3 months. hated it
Steven King got high on cocaine and wrote The Shining there
>>216008337Most of us don't know. They keep to themselves and tell us they're full and to fuck off.
>>216008337Commuting to Boston.
>>216008358Lots of Indians
>>216008337>in america, dover, portsmouth, rochester, manchester and derry are all in hampshireA strange place, this "America".
>>216008337It's cold and rural. Nothing to do there but tourism and farming maple syrup.
>>216008396no I swear he wrote the shining in colorado or at least he got the idea there after stay at that one hotel
>>216008337Mt. Washington is the highest mountain in the state and also all of New England. It's less than 2000 meters tall and has a literal cable car going all the way to the summit, but is still one of the deadliest mountains in America because Americans are fat and stupid.
>>216008337From my limited understanding it's New Englanders that enjoy larping as rough and tough libertarian frontiersmen but in a state with an Ivy League school. Seems a bit farcical from my perspective. NH personified by those online reminds me of the character Mr Holloway from KOTH.
>>216009572>this is a "mountain" to coasties
>>216008367>>216008367
>>216008411It's just that from American media, some states seem so culturaly distinctive while others are just...there. If you look online, it seems that the conensus is that the most boring/obscure states are places like Iowa/North Dakota/Missouri.But to me, at least I hear those states tangentially mentioned in some way in media. Meanwhile, let alone something actually being set there, I don't think I've heard New Hampshire even get mentioned in anything.>>216008358Mostly rugby and religion.>>216009572>>216009690Interesting. Is it kind of a "preppy" type of place? That's what I'm imagining.
>>216011191u gonna apply for the DV lottery? You would have pretty good odds of winning
>>216008337Nothing, now fuck off and go talk about California instead of us.
>>216011191>I don't think I've heard New Hampshire even get mentioned in anything.Good. Nothing happens here. We're full.
>>216008337I had poutine there and it made me want to KMS my self to death
>>216009572An old man died there the day I was there, cable car dropped him off and at 5pm and he decided to walk a trail despite not having any clue where he was going and he had zero gear on him. That cable car (and the road up) should not exist, the summit was packed with lardass mutts. Climb a mountain, and on top you see a hundred fatties standing in line to take a photo of the summit sign.
>>216011380Nah>>216011568Lol calm down. I'm not migrating anytime soon and even if I were, I would go to a more interesting state. Also drop the tough guy act you're probably soi as fuck.
>>216011803I've lurked here a bit and I feel like I hear about people dying when /out/ somewhat frequently enough to raise an alarm in me, I don't have the means to go camping or hiking for a while and have never done it. Why do so many people die? is there a good guide to camping and hiking that people here share for newbies or some good books and youtube channels to watch?
>>216013052You should tho. I won on my second attempt and I'll move to the land of freedom next year :)
>>216011803>trainwhy is the ground station in the middle of nowhere? and it's more expensive than a car>roadmost american insult to a mountain
>>216011191>Is it kind of a "preppy" type of place? That's what I'm imaginingYes and no. It's preppy when you're near Phillips Exeter and Dartmouth, but it's also got its own literal Moonshiners and Hillbillies living with a diet of meth and booze
>>216013078People die because they aren't prepared and suddenly find themselves in over thier head with no way out. People die on that mountain because a train takes them up to the top and they think it's civilized and safe, but in reality they are exposed above the treeline on a mountain. They go for a walk, get lost, and either fall off a cliff in thier panic or go hypothermic overnight. Don't think hiking is dangerous though, it's not and not everything is a mountaintop. There are plenty of outdoor youtubers now to watch, but wilderness safety really comes down to "be prepared."
>>216008337What chance does a genuine Anglo have at fitting in there?
>>216013662Apparently the road is privately owned as well to further the insult to injury. There is a visitor center with a fast food place on at the summit. On top of that, there are two lodges on the same ridgeline so people can stay overnight above the treeline. The whites felt depressingly commercialized, at the very least most of the people outside of mount Washington were in good shape so it was not so insulting but still.
>>216008337Stupid yankees
>>216008337Quiet peace, we're full.
>>216014058Among American anglos, you aren't a genuine Anglo. You're some sort of Victorian "Britishâ„¢" with very little in common with the real Anglo Saxons of New England.
>>216009500We've got a Chichester, Lancaster, Lincoln, Plymouth(landlocked!), Walpole, Marlborough, Exeter, two towns named after William Pitt and others which may be english but I'm not so sure.
>>216009572It's not a cable car, it's a cog railway which is much jankier, old and cool. You can drive up it in an auto-mobile too if you fancy.
>>216011750This is our defense mechanism against stupid canadians who intrude. Fuck off.
>>216013078People usually die because it is warm at sea level so they walk out in a t-shirt and shorts. Then the sun starts to go down and they are up near where the treeline ends and they get cold extremely fast. That or a rain/snowstorm rolls in and gigafucks them.
>>216014058Depends, how strong is your accent? We have almost no accent at all here so you'll stand out a little. Some people will fawn over you I imagine, mostly older ladies.
