my polish grandma passed away in the summer. i didn't talk to her as much as i should've -- due to family politics i never got to meet her until i was 15. (25 now).
she called me out of the blue on a saturday and we spoke for two hours. i resolved i ought to speak with her more, and we agreed we'd call every tuesday. she died that monday night.
she made good pierogies. onion and sauerkraut filling, cooked in butter.
